The Championship promotion playoffs kicked off on Sunday and Monday, and bottom-seeded Swansea and second-seeded Fulham took important advantages in their draws against Brentford and Cardiff City, respectively.

Swansea City and top-seeded Brentford kicked off the action on Sunday, and the Welsh side, which barely snuck into the playoffs, surprised many by starting off the draw with a 1-0 victory.

After a Rico Henry red card left the Bees with a one-man disadvantage beginning at the 66-minute mark, Andre Ayew took advantage for the Swans and found the net at the 82nd minute to score the decisive goal.

On Monday, Cardiff City hosted Fulham in the second semi-final leg, with the London side claiming an important 0-2 victory which puts them in the driver’s seat to advance to the final.

After a scoreless first half, Josh Onomah and Neeskens Kabano each scored a goal in the second half to put them in a commanding position to advance.

The second leg of each draw will be played later on this week, with the winners of the matchups set to do battle on Tuesday, August 4th behind closed doors at Wembley Stadium in a final which will decide the Premier League’s 20th and final team for the 2020-21 season.
