Stefon Diggs is getting a nice welcoming gift from the Buffalo Bills. According to reports, Bills decided to rework Diggs’ contract after his trade from Minnesota Vikings in order to pay him more money in 2020.

Diggs inked a five-year, $72 million contract extension in 2018, which kicked in last season. According to the original terms, the 26-year-old wideout was set to make 11.5 million this year. However, under new terms, Bills will now pay him $14.8 in 2020, increasing his salary up by $3.3 million.

The reworked deal will also see Diggs’ guarantee in 2021 being increased by $7.7 million to $11 million while his base salary next year will be being reduced by $300K. In 2022 and 2023, he is set to receive less money, with the overall number dropping from $25.55 million to $22.67 million.

The deal appears to be beneficial for both sides. Diggs is set to receive his money a lot earlier than scheduled, while Buffalo uses current available cap space to give themselves more wiggle room in the future.

It is important to note that the new terms were agreed upon when Bills acquired Stefon Diggs in March. In order to land Diggs, Buffalo sent first-rounder, fifth-rounder, and sixth-rounder to Vikings.

In the past five years, Diggs played 70 regular-season games with Minnesota and has 63 starts. His career numbers include 365 receptions for 4,623 yards and 30 touchdowns.

The problems just keep on coming for Minnesota Vikings. The team is currently sitting at the bottom of NFC North, while witnessing some concerning locker room issues after their star wide receiver Adam Thielen called out quarterback Kirk Cousins for a string of bad performances. And if that wasn’t enough, now WR Stefon Diggs is feeling frustrated with the way the team is playing and might want out.

In recent days, reports surfaced that Diggs was unhappy with the organization, and might seek a trade. The 25-year-old was absent from practice on Wednesday due to “non-injury reasons” which only fueled the trade talks even more.

Diggs returned to practice on Thursday, where he spent time answering the questions from reporters. At one point, he was asked whether he wants out of Minnesota.

“There’s truth to all rumors. I won’t be speaking on that.” – said Diggs.

When pressed to elaborate on the matter, Diggs admitted he is frustrated with the lack of winning, but refused to give further explanation.

“I said there’s truth to all rumors,” – he added. “What I mean by that … there’s a lot of speculation of me being frustrated. Of course being a receiver and wanting to have success and wanting to win. If you’re not winning of course you’ll be frustrated. That’s my answer.”

The Vikings’ struggles with the passing game have caused Stefon Diggs’ stats in 2019 to take a hit. He has only had 13 receptions in the first four games of the season while scoring one touchdown.

There is no indication that Vikings are willing to trade Diggs at the moment. Reportedly, the only way they could think about moving him is if they would receive a massive offer they couldn’t refuse.
