Manchester City took home a resounding 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night but was unable to leave the pitch with only positive feelings after key striker Sergio Aguero suffered a knee injury during the win.

The Argentinian striker, who has scored 23 goals across all competitions for City this season, limped off of the field just before the half-time whistle blew after experiencing discomfort in his left knee.

After City’s 5-0 victory, Pep Guardiola offered some sobering and realistic words about his striker’s injury, saying “It doesn’t look good. Something in the knee and we will see tomorrow. He felt something in his knee. He struggled in the last month with some pain in his knee.”

Aguero, who turned 32 earlier this month, is expected to undergo a surgical procedure later this week in Barcelona in order to fix the damage to his knee ligaments.

It is still unknown how long he will miss after undergoing the procedure, but it seems likely that the striker could miss the rest of the Premier League campaign.

City, which is set to finish 2nd in the domestic league, will now hope that their leading goal-scorer will be healthy enough to return for Champions League action in August.
