Since Trevor Siemian walked away this offseason to join New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings found themselves in the need of a backup quarterback for Kirk Cousins. Now, after considering several names in the past few weeks, Vikings decided that Sean Mannion is their man.

According to NFL Network, Mannion inked a one-year deal with the Vikings. The26-year-old spent the last four seasons with Los Angeles Rams but the team decided not to retain him after his contract expired in March. Rams signed former Jacksonville Jaguars’ starter Blake Bortles as his replacement.

Sean Mannion was drafted by the Rams in the third round of 2015 NFL Draft. During his four years with the organization, he only played 10 games. His lone NFL career start came in Week 17 of 2017 season against San Francisco 49ers.

Mannion’s career stats include completing 33 of his passes out of 53 attempts for 258 yards. He failed to throw any touchdowns while having one career interception.

Minnesota Vikings made several other free agent additions in the past few days, including safety Deeron Smith and cornerback Duke Thomas.
