The LA Galaxy continued their busy offseason on Thursday, bringing in winger Samuel Grandsir from Monaco. The club already signed a number of players earlier in the offseason, including defenders Jorge Villafana and Derrick Williams.

Grandsir is expected to join his new teammates after he receives his visa and will occupy an international roster spot, according to the Galaxy. The transfer was completed using Targeted Allocation Money, but the exact figure remained undisclosed.

The former France youth international will ink a three-year deal with the MLS side, with the contract also having a fourth-year club option.

Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese said in a statement that the club is pleased with getting a player that has experience of playing in one of Europe’s best leagues.

“Samuel is an attack-minded, talented player who will strengthen our roster,” said te Kloese. “We are confident he will show his potential and are excited to watch him grow even more and have him become an important part of our roster.”

Samuel Grandsir spent his youth and early career with Ligue 2 side Troyes, where he played several promising seasons and attracted the attention of several high-profile clubs. Monaco ended up making the best offer and signed the player in 2018.

Grandsir played 18 games in all competitions for Monaco in 2018-19 but didn’t particularly impress. He spent the rest of his time with the club on loans.
