Injuries are slowly creeping on the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense. After losing defensive tackle D.J. Reader to a season-ending injury earlier in the week, Bengals now learned that they will not be able to count on starting defensive end Sam Hubbard in the coming games.

Bengals announced on Thursday that they have placed Hubbard on injured reserve, ruling the 25-year-old DE out for at least three weeks. The former third-round pick is dealing with an elbow injury that he suffered during Sunday’s loss against Cincinnati Bengals.

Besides Reader and Hubbard, the Bengals also have veteran Mike Daniels and second-year DT Renell Wren on IR. The team is expected to fill in the void from inside the house, but it would be surprising if Cincinnati looks towards the free-agent market if some of these players take longer than expected to come back.

Sam Hubbard was coming off a promising season in 2019 when he started 15 games and had 8.5 sacks and 76 tackles to show for. He had a slightly slower start this year, contributing with one sack, 23 tackles, and three QB hits.
