]]>Ryan Griffin emerged as New York Jets’ primary tight end in 2019 and this helped him land a new deal. Jets announced over the weekend that they have signed Griffin to an extension that will keep the 29-year-old with the organization for years to come.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Griffin inked a deal that runs through 2022 and comes with $10.8 million in value. According to Garafolo, the contract has $4 million in guarantees while the rest comes in “reachable” incentives.
Jets have confirmed the deal on their social media.
Ryan Griffin, who was the sixth-round pick in 2013, spent the first six years of his career with Houston Texans. After Texans released him in the summer, Griffin ended up landing a one-year deal with Jets ahead of training camp.
Griffin was initially supposed to serve as a backup, but with starter Chris Herndon struggling with injuries, he managed to emerge as a reliable option. Through the first 12 weeks of 2019 season, Griffin caught 28 passes for 282 yards and team-leading five touchdowns.
