Washington Football Team will reportedly be sellers ahead of this year’s NFL trade deadline. According to Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer, Washington made pass rusher Ryan Kerrigan and defensive end Ryan Anderson available for trade and is willing to part with the duo if satisfactory offers come their way.

Breer said that Washington feels good about depth on their defensive line, especially with the emergence of star rookie defensive end Chase Young. This paired with the fact that Kerrigan and Anderson saw a reduced role in the recent week prompted the team to try and turn the pair of veterans into future draft picks.

ESPN’s John Keim followed up on the initial report, saying that Washington still hasn’t received calls on the duo, although this could change as the trade deadline approaches.

Washington’s decision to trade Ryan Kerrigan is intriguing, as the 32-year-old pass rusher has been with the team since entering the league in 2011. He has four Pro Bowl nods since then while leading the franchise in career sacks with 94.0.

Ryan Anderson, on the other hand, is a more obvious candidate for a trade considering his struggles in 2020. Anderson has zero sacks and only seven tackle this season, compared to 4.0 sacks and 44 tackles last year.

The future of the duo will mostly depend on Washington’s asking price. There are enough teams in the league that could use a veteran pass rusher, but it is hard to believe they would be willing to surrender anything besides a late-round pick to get one.
