Veteran quarterback Robert Griffin III hasn’t given up on returning to NFL despite having a new career as a football analyst. And he hopes that might be with the Washington Football Team, the franchise that drafted him second overall in 2012.

Griffin recently made an appearance on the Adam Schefter Podcast where he discussed his new job and how it impacts his future as a professional football player. The 31-year-old star told host Adam Schefter that he still works out and keeps himself in shape in case he gets an opportunity to step on the field again.

“First and foremost for me, I still want to play,” Griffin shared.

Naturally, the subject of the Washington Football Team came up after this. The team recently lost its starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a hip injury, so Schefter wondered whether a return to the franchise would be an option for Griffin.

“Would I be open to it? Yeah, I would love to go back and be able to have that come full circle,” Griffin told Schefter. “But am I begging for that or pleading for that? Nah. But if your guy goes down, make the call. Wouldn’t it be a great story?”

While it would be a great story for sure, it is unlikely that Washington makes that call. The team seems committed to Taylor Heinicke as Fitzpatrick’s replacement while having Kyle Allen waiting for his turn as well. It also doesn’t help that Griffin hasn’t seen much action in recent years and has struggled when given the opportunity.

Robert Griffin III had a dream start of his NFL career with Washington, earning Pro Bowl honors and leading the franchise to a playoff appearance in his rookie year. But a severe knee injury in the postseason derailed his career, and he was never the same afterwards. Griffin was released by Washington after the 2015 season and made attempts to resurrect his career with the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens but without much success.

Ravens’ Robert Griffin III hasn’t started more than seven games since 2013, his second year in the NFL, and has been a full-time lineup for Baltimore the past two years. Despite this, Griffin doesn’t want to spend the rest of his career as a backup and he plans to become a started in the NFL.

Griffin signed with the Ravens in 2018 after spending a year out of the league. Since playing with the Ravens, he went from being a third-string QB to the primary backup of 2019’s MVP Lamar Jackson. The 30-year-old player dreams of more opportunities in the future.

“I do want to be a starter again,” Griffin said during a recent appearance on Matt Mosley Show. “I’m 30 years old. Quarterbacks are playing into their 40s now. There’s a lot of time left to still go achieve all the dreams and goals I set for myself.”

Griffin also talked about his amazing experience in Baltimore so far, “It’s been an amazing experience being in Baltimore. A top-notch, first-class organization. They take care of their players. They understand the importance of taking care of the quarterbacks and surround the quarterback with guys and people that will help them grow. I’m a part of that. I’m a part of that for Lamar (Jackson), helping him grow, helping him see the game, helping him continue to get better every single day.”

For most of his career, Griffin was a starter, making 35 starts with the Washington Redskins between 2012 and 2014. His career stats include 63.1 competition percentage alongside 9,229 passing yards and 43 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,740 yards and 10 TDs.

Baltimore Ravens might have to get a new man to support their star quarterback Lamar Jackson. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Ravens’ backup QB quarterback Robert Griffin III might be on the move this offseason.

After spending the 2017 season without a team, Griffin signed a deal with the Ravens and managed to earn a roster spot two seasons ago. The 30-year-old former second overall pick played 10 games, mostly as a relief, during that time and contributed with 246 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Considering that it’s unlikely for Griffin to get a more prominent role with Ravens in the future, his time in Baltimore is likely coming to an end. Reportedly, his name is coming up often in trade talks with several NFL teams expressing their interest.

Robert Griffin is seven years removed from his Pro Bowl season as a rookie in 2012, so it’s unclear whether any team would strongly consider him as a starter. With this being said, Griffin looked really good when he was on the field in the past two years and could be a nice option for teams unsure in their QBs like Chicago Bears.

Griffin’s NFL career stats include 63.1 percent completion, 9,229 passing yards and 43 touchdowns to go with 1,740 rushing yards and 10 rushing TDs.

It looks like Baltimore Ravens have their quarterback situation sorted out. After trading Joe Flacco in order to clear the way for Lamar Jackson to become an undisputed starter, they now also have a backup QB in place. Ravens recently announced that they had resigned Robert Griffin III to a two-year contract with the deal pending the passing of a physical.

After spending the 2017 season out of the league, Griffin impressed the Ravens during a workout in 2018 offseason, and the team decided to give him one-year,$1.1 million deal.  He had several impressive moments in the preseason, and although he spent the regular season as team’s third QB, he impressed the team with his work ethic on training to earn a new contract.

Ravens are now hoping that the 29-year-old will not only be a solid primary backup for Jackson but can also continue to mentor the young QB.

Robert Griffin entered the NFL in 2012 when Washington Redskins took him second overall in that year’s draft. Although he had a spectacular start of his career, earning a Pro Bowl appearance and leading Redskins to playoffs in his rookie season, Griffin started struggling with injuries which ultimately derailed his development.

Griffin’s career stats include 9,004 passing yards for 42 touchdowns and 26 interceptions alongside 1,670 rushing yards and 10 TDs.

Former second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, quarterback Robert Griffin III, returned to the NFL after missing out the 2017 and signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens in April. Now, Griffin played his first NFL game in 19 months on Thursday against the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame game.

After the game, the 28-year-old was overjoyed to be back in the league and said that the game against the Bears was “an emotional day” for him.

People don’t understand that once you’re out of the league for a year, it’s really hard to get back in, especially if you’re a quarterback and a high draft pick. It’s just really hard to do,” – said Griffin. “[Thursday] was an emotional day for me, just coming back out here. I know it’s the preseason, it’s the Hall of Fame game, but to have an opportunity to come back out here and play football is something that I really cherish.”

With Ravens starting QB Joe Flaco not being active on the roster for the matchup against the Bears, Robert Griffin III started the game and completed 7 of 11 passes for 58 yards while having one touchdown and two interceptions. The interceptions weren’t exactly his fault since his receivers couldn’t hold on to the ball on both occasions.

This was a good start of his career with the Ravens for Griffin, but his stay in Baltimore is everything but sure. Ravens currently have three QBs on the roster, something that didn’t happen since 2009, so Griffin will have to work hard to keep his place.

After being taken second overall by the Washington Redskins, Robert Griffin III went on to have a fantastic rookie season. He was selected to Pro Bowl and earned NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year while leading Redskins to the playoffs. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed his career, causing the Redskins to move him to back up an eventually release him. Griffin then signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2016, but after a string of poor performances, he was released by the Browns as well.

After being without a team for more than a year, quarterback Robert Griffin III has agreed to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. He will serve as a backup for team’s starting quarterback Joe Flacco.

You look at the veteran quarterbacks out there, where we’re at right now, I’m pretty excited about this player,” – said Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh. “I’m really feeling like we got a steal. I really feel that way.

Robert Griffin III, who previously played for Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns, was brought in by the Ravens for the last week’s tryout. The team initially only wanted for him to throw to free-agent wide receivers, but ended up being impressed by his showing and decided to offer him a deal.

I felt like he wanted to be a Raven,” – added Harbaugh. “He felt like this was the place for him. I believe our players are going to love the fact that he’s here. They like him as a person. It makes us a better football team. This move makes us better.

After an impressive college football career, during which he won the Heisman Trophy, Robert Griffin III was selected as the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He was named the team’s starting quarterback and had a successful rookie season in which he broke several records and won the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Griffin III, however, didn’t manage to replicate this success in the following seasons, which were plagued by inconsistency and injuries. He eventually lost the starting QB spot to Kirk Cousins, and the Redskins decided to release him in March 2016.

Cleveland Browns jumped on the opportunity and signed Griffin III to a two-year deal couple of weeks later. He was named the team’s starting quarterback for the season, but the injuries limited him to only five games. Browns released him before the start of 2017 season, and Griffin III ended up sitting out the entire season, unable to find a team.
