It didn’t take long for cornerback Robert Alford to find a job after Atlanta Falcons released him on Tuesday. Just two days later, Alford signed a deal with the Arizona Cardinals which will keep him with the team through 2021 season.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian, Alford’s contract is worth $22.5 million, but the value can rise to $25 million based on various incentives. The 30-year-old will get $13.5 million guaranteed.

Robert Alford spent his entire NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons, who took him 60th overall in 2013 NFL Draft. He spent the 2018 season as team’s starting cornerback, contributing with 50 combined tackles and 11 passes defended, but Falcons decided to move on from him in a salary-cap move. Alford was due $8.5 million this year.

Cardinals acted fact in acquiring the 30-year-old, hoping to pair him with their All-Pro CB Patrick Peterson. The team featured several players alongside Peterson last season but failed to get an impact from any of them.  Now with Alford on board, Arizona has a veteran CB pair that can produce all sorts of problems for opponents’ wideouts

During the six years he spent in the pros, Robert Alford played 88 games and had 303 tackles, 85 passes defended, 10 interceptions, one forced fumble while adding two defensive touchdowns.
