The New England Patriots’ legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski is closely watching his former team and the way quarterback Mac Jones has been struggling in 2023. And he believes that Jones might lose his job sooner rather than later if he doesn’t improve.

Speaking on the Up & Adams show earlier this week, Gronkowski said that Jones has been making some mistakes in recent games that are probably making Pats’ head coach Bill Belichick “frustrated.” According to him, Jones can’t allow himself more “strike,” or he’ll end up being “out.”

“If he gets benched again and he makes another mistake that they’ve been going over throughout the week … he’s going to get benched a third time, and that will be strike three and he will officially be out as the quarterback of the New England Patriots,” said Gronkowski.

Jones was benched in 2022 in favor of then-rookie Bailey Zappe in the game against the Chicago Bears, and the same thing happened in a 38-3 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys this season. The Alabama product has been completing 63.7% of his passes this season while throwing for 898 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions.

What works in Jones’ favor is that the Pats don’t have a better option. Zappe wasn’t impressive against the Cowboys, while Grier played his most recent regular-season game in 2019.

Future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski already walked away from the NFL and then changed his mind once. Could he do it again? Absolutely no, if you ask the man himself.

Speaking about his close friend Tom Brady’s retirement on Tuesday, Gronk was asked about a wild scenario: “What if Brady changes his mind about retiring and tries to recruit him to follow him to his next stop? Would that make him want to return to football?”

“No, no. I’m done, man,” Gronkowski said with determination. “Tom is not reopening that door.”

Rob Gronkowski first retired in 2019 and spent one year away from the game before returning for the 2020 season to team up with Brady after the legendary quarterback signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gronk and Brady delivered a Super Bowl ring to the Bucs in their first year there and reached the Divisional Round in 2021 before Gronk decided to call it a career once again.

Gronkowski officially retired as a member of the Buccaneers but would consider signing a one-day deal with the New England Patriots to retire as a member of the franchise with which he spent the first nine years of his career. New England’s owner Robert Kraft previously expressed hopes to try and get Brady to sign a one-day deal and retire as a Patriot.

“If it was offered and presented, it would definitely be a possibility,” Gronkowski shared. “I love New England. I loved my time there. I learned so much. I love Mr. Kraft. I love the whole organization, coach (Bill) Belichick, everyone.”

Rob Gronkowski, one of the best tight ends in the history of the NFL, announced his retirement on Tuesday. This is the second time Gronkowski is stepping away from professional football.

Gronkowski, who spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, announced the news via social media.

” … I will now be going back into my retirement home, walking away from football again with my head held high knowing I gave it everything I had, good or bad, every time I stepped out on the field,” Gronkowski wrote in a statement.

Gronkowski initially retired after the 2018 season and Super Bowl LIII win with the New England Patriots. But just one year later, Gronk changed his mind and reunited with Pats’ teammate Tom Brady in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers. The duo won another Super Bowl in their first year with the franchise before being eliminated in Divisional Round last season.

While being non-committal to playing in the past few months, many believed Gronkowski would end up playing this season due to high interest in his services. The chances of this happening especially went up when Brady decided to return for another run with the Bucs in 2022. However, it turns out Gronk has other plans in mind.

It is worth noting that Gronkowski’s agent Drew Rosenhaus believes the five-time Pro Bowler could still play at some point in the future despite retirement.

“It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call,” Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “This is just my opinion, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.”

The Buffalo Bills are looking into adding another offensive weapon for their star quarterback Josh Allen in hopes he’ll finally take them over the playoff hump. According to multiple reports, the Bills are interested in adding Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski this offseason if the 32-year-old player decides to keep playing football.

Gronkowski retired from the NFL after the 2018 season but returned one year later to reunite with quarterback Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. However, with Brady choosing to ride off into the sunset, many believe Gronk’s time as a member of the Buccaneers is done as well.

Gronkowski’s plans for the future are unclear at the moment, but playing for the Bills could be tempting for him. He would not only get another chance to compete for a Super Bowl, but the Amherst, New York-native would also get to play in his home state.

Rob Gronkowski is coming off a productive season with the Bucs that saw him get 55 catches for 802 yards and six touchdowns. He managed to get to these numbers even after missing five games due to injured ribs.

While Gronk’s injury history might be concerning, the Bills wouldn’t require him to do too much. They already have a formidable option at the position in Dawson Knox, who had nine touchdowns in 2021. However, it remains to be seen if Gronkowski is even interested in playing one more year or playing for the Bills, for that matter.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski made a return to Gillette Stadium on Sunday night for the first time in a couple of years. But instead of wearing the New England Patriots jersey, Gronk arrived as an “enemy” with his new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gronkowski spent the first nine years of his career with the Pats, winning three Super Bowls with the franchise and claiming a number of individual accolades. This is why it isn’t surprising that the 32-year-old star is fond of New England even after going to the Sunshine State of Florida.

During his recent chat with ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Gronkowski shared some of his most favorite things about the region, including restaurants, monuments, and places he liked to visit. At one point, Reiss asked him to share the thing he misses most about New England. As you might imagine, Gronk gave a classic Gronk answer.

“Going to the Celtics games,” said Gronkowski. “They would hook us up, front row. Just to go check out an NBA game, being right there on the court, was always really cool.”

Gronkowski also shared that the thing he doesn’t miss at all about New England is the weather. And you can’t blame him as the sun beats rain every time.

After winning the Super Bowl in his first year with the Bucs, Gronkowski is currently on track to have another strong season. In the first three weeks of the 2021 campaign, Gronk has 16 catches for 184 yards and team-leading four touchdowns.

The longer one follows the NFL and its athletes, the longer one realizes that there’s so much more to them than meets the eye. In fact, some of the players are downright jokesters—Rob Gronkowski, to be exact.

The star tight end is known best for his time with the New England Patriots, but after he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he engaged in a clever scheme to get out of doing extra workouts.

During the 2020 season when everyone was forced to quarantine themselves, Tampa Bay strength and conditioning coach Anthony Piroli had assigned the players a strict regiment of workouts. He then tasked them with sending personal videos of themselves working out at home, to prove that they had actually done it.

Gronkowski, however, figured out a scheme to get out of these workouts, as he recently explained in a Fox interview:

“I started tricking him. I would bring my shirt out, and then I would bring another shirt out, so when I’m running the sprints, I would film myself, like, 15 times for that session. But I would run it in a couple of different shirts because you only had to send in two or three reps. So when the next time came, I didn’t have to film myself because I already filmed myself running in a different shirt every time on that one day.”

Apparently, they completely bought his scheme and didn’t notice anything. However, considering the fact that he had an excellent season for them, we doubt they’re that upset after the fact.

Five-time Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski surprised the NFL last month when he decided to come out of retirement and join Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Many people thought that Gronkowski wanted to team up with former New England Patriots’ teammate Tom Brady, but it turns out this wasn’t the main reason behind his decision.

Gronkowski recently made an appearance on the “The Ellen Show” and admitted that playing with Brady added to the appeal of dressing up for Buccaneers. However, the 31-year-old added that the biggest factor for him was the fact that his mother lives close to Tampa Bay and will be able to see him play.

“The main reason why I came down to Tampa to play is because my mother live two hours away,” Gronkowski told the host Ellen DeGeneres. “She can get to all the games, all eight of our home games. Whenever I have days off, she’s two hours down the street and I get to see her. So she’s super excited.”

You can check out Gronkowski’s full interview on The Ellen Show below.

After a highly successful nine years in NFL, during which he won three Super Bowl rings with Patriots, Rob Gronkowski shockingly announced he is retiring from football after the 2018 NFL season. At the time, Gronkowski said that the injuries took a toll on his body and went on to work as an NFL analyst and made appearances on WWE among other ventures.

However, Gronkowski’s break ended up lasting only one season, as he un-retired in April and was immediately traded to Buccs by New England for a fourth-round pick. Reportedly, Gronk was only willing to play with Brady in Tampa and would stay away from football if Pats wouldn’t honor his request.

The surprises just won’t stop coming in the NFL this offseason, and that trend continued with a huge bit of news that almost no one saw coming on Tuesday.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who retired at the age of 30 following the last NFL season, has decided to unretire and has subsequently been traded from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gronkowski has been one of the biggest stars in the league as a Patriot since he was drafted in 2010. A five-time Pro Bowler and a four-time first-team All-Pro Bowl selection during his decade in New England, he shocked the world by announcing a premature retirement after the conclusion of the 2019 season.

However, after Tom Brady chose to sign with the NFC South team earlier in the offseason, it appears that Gronk changed his mind.

Gronkowski made it clear that he wanted to return to the field to reunite with Brady in Tampa Bay, but that he would not return to play for the Patriots. With this in mind, his former team decided to ship him to his preferred destination along with a 7th round pick in exchange for a 3rd round pick.

In an offseason full of surprises, Gronkowski’s return to the field is one of the highest on the list.

Former New England Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski kicked off his WWE career with a bang. At Wrestlemania 36, which aired on Saturday and Sunday night, Gronk won WWE 24/7 championship by pinning his friend and WWE colleague Mojo Rawley.

The WWE introduced a 24/7 championship in 2019 and made it available for grabs to anyone, regardless of their affiliation with the company. The championship can be defended and won anytime, with the only rule being that a WWE referee is present.

Gronkowski joined the WWE in March and was part of Wrestlemania 36 as a host. However, he had his eyes on the 24/7 championship belt the whole time.

On the first night of the event, Gronk tried to pin then-champion R-Truth, but Rawley got in the way and was credited with the pinning. The former NFL player didn’t give up and got his chance the second day. While Rawley was trying to fight off a group of challengers, Gronkowski used the confusion and pinned him down to claim the belt.

Watch Gronkowski win the WWE 24/7 Championship below.

Since retiring from NFL in 2018, Rob Gronkowski focused on his TV career. Besides taking part in several TV shows, including The Masked Singer, Gronk also joined the Fox Sports as football analysts and became part of the network’s Fox NFL Thursday program.

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is close to making a deal with WWE Pro Wrestling promotion. Reports are unsure exactly how he will be used, but he will likely appear on WWE SmackDown within the next month.

Gronk played nine seasons with the Patriots, was selected to five Pro Bowls, and helped New England win three Super Bowls. He retired after the end of the 2019 season despite being only 30-years-old, saying that the pain and injuries he suffered during his career have worn him down mentally.

Gronkowski has hinted that he’d be interested in working with WWE in the past and took part in Andre the Giant Battle at WrestleMania in 2017. His friend Mojo Rawley, a pro wrestler, told ESPN in October that the idea of Gronk participating in WWE is not far off.

In August, Gronkowski spoke at a sponsor’s news conference: “With wrestling, I don’t feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I’m down for,” Gronkowski said. “And that’s to do one crazy match. Practice it for a little bit, go out there- like in a royal rumble.”

Rob Gronkowski, one of the best tight ends in the history of the NFL, announced his retirement on Tuesday. This is the second time Gronkowski is stepping away from professional football.
