Parma and Torino closed the 6^th week of the Italian Serie A with a 3-2 score for the home team, a win earned late in the second half. 

The score was opened quickly after the referee’s whistle, a goal scored by the Swedish international Dejan Kulusevski, with Gervinho assisting him in front of the open goal. Torino managed to level the score just 10 minutes later through Christian Ansaldi. The defender out-jumped the defense and scored past Luigi Sepe. 

Torino’s defender Brener managed to receive 2 yellow cards in 8 minutes, after he touched the ball with his hand in the penalty box. The referee awarded a penalty for Parma after the consultations with the VAR system. Gervinho’s penalty was saved by Salvatore Sirigu in the 30^th minute. 

Shortly before half-time, another penalty was given, this time for the visitors and again rewarded after the VAR replay. Andrea Belotti scored past Sepe and giving his team the lead with 10 men on the field. Just 2 minutes later, Andreas Cornelius leveled the score for Parma, with Dejan Kulusevski providing the assist. 

In the second half, Parma pushed Torino in their own half and that paid off late in the 88^th minute when Roberto Inglese scored for 3-2.

With the recent 24 games, the new 2019-2020 Europa League season is underway, as 48 teams will battle for the title that leads to the Champions’ League group stage next year. Chelsea are the current winners after their 4-1 victory over fellow London rivals Arsenal, after which they’ve earned a spot in this year’s Champions League.

The first fixture brought some interesting results such as Wolfsberger’s huge away win at Borussia Park against Borussia M, with a final result of 0-4. Manchester United earned a hard-fought win against Kazakhstan’s recorders FC Astana with 1-0, a goal scored by Mason Greenwood in the second half. 

UEL runners-up Arsenal grabbed an easy 0-3 win away in Frankfurt, AS Roma had an easy night against Turkish Basaksehir (4-0), Espanyol and Wolves had their debuts in the Europa League, as Espanyol had a draw against Ferencvaros and Wolves suffered a 0-1 defeat to Braga.  

Basel and Ludogorets had the biggest wins of the night. Ludogorets defeated CSKA Moscow with 5-1, scoring all 5 goals in the second half, with Claudiu Keseru scoring a hat-trick. Basel had no mercy over another Russian team, Krasnodar, trashing them with 5-0. 

Rangers won the game against Feyenoord with 1-0, a goal scored by Sheji Ojo in the 24^th minute, who dedicated the goal to the recently passed away Rangers legend Fernando Ricksen.

On the first day of the second stage at the FIBA World Cup in China, former Euro champions Spain defeated Italy with a final result of 67-60. In a tough match with low points, Italy started the match by outscoring their rivals 15-5, forcing Scariolo to call his first time-out. After the short break, Italy made some changes and that backfired, as Spain made a 13-3 run, ending the first period with an 18-18 tie. 

In the second period, both of the team’s defenses were tough and the Italians won out with a narrow 12-13. After half-time, both teams started with a lot of misses from the field, with Spain making some shots and winning the 3^rd quarter with 20-17 score, making it harder for Italy as the pressure rose until the end, knowing that a loss would send the Azzuri home. In the last period, Spain scored only 2 points in the first 6 minutes, allowing Italy to take a 4-point lead which forced Spain’s coach to take a time-out. Like in the first half, Spain made a 10-0 run, taking back a 62-56 lead in the final 2 minutes. With this loss, Italy goes home, while Spain advances to the next round.

The European Qualifiers for the 2020 Euro are here once again with the first International break in the new season. Some interesting matches took place on Thursday night, as Armenia and Italy opened the round in Yerevan, with the Italians grabbing the win with 1-3 with the brace from Andrea Belotti, after the home side opened the score early in the 11^th minute through Alexander Karapetian. Armenia ended the match with a 10-man team when Karapetian received his second yellow card in the first half. 

The Republic of Ireland grabbed a tough 1-1 draw against Switzerland with both goals scored in the last 15 minutes. Fabian Schar scored for the Swiss and David McGoldrick leveled the score for the Irish. Ireland is at the top of the table with 11 points, while Switzerland is 3^rd with one played match fewer. 

Romania hosted Spain in Bucharest, narrowly losing by 1-2 from the former Euro champions. Sergio Ramos scored for Spain from the penalty spot and Paco Alcacer doubled the lead in the 47^th minute. Romania pulled one goal back through Florin Andone’s header in the 2nd half and missed many chances to earn a point. Spain ended the match with 10 men when Llorente received a straight red card at the end.

The NFL preseason week 2 has started with the first five games taking place on Thursday night. As the new season is about to begin, the teams are testing all of their weapons before kick-off day, forming their new starting line-ups. 

The most interesting match took place at State Farm Stadion in Glendale, Arizona where the improved Oakland Raiders squared off against Arizona Cardinals with a final result of 33-26 – without their star Wide Receiver Antonio Brown. Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr was on the field for a short time, throwing 2/2 from the field for a total of 40 yards, before being benched for the second QB Nathan Peterman (8/8 from the field for 41 yard) and later their third-string QB Mike Glennon, finishing the game with 14/11 from the field for 175 yards.  

On the losing side, Kyler Murray, the new star on the Cardinals roster, went 8/3 from the field for just 12 yards after being replaced later on with the rest of the QB’s on the roster, with Brett Hundley making the most of it by going 15/10 from the field for a total of 139 yards.
