The Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is unlikely to play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday as he battles with a right thumb injury. Still, one source claimed that the Rams are willing to wait to see if there is any change to his status before ruling him out completely.

Officially listed as questionable, Stafford was injured during his team’s 43-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. While one source mentioned earlier in the week that it “would have been unthinkable” for him to play on Sunday due to his ulnar collateral ligament sprain, he may end up being rested given that he will have two weeks to recover before the Rams’ next game due to a bye next week.

Should Stafford be rested, Brett Rypien would be expected to replace him with Dresser Winn as backup. Star rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is also listed as questionable, is expected to play.

The Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been ruled out of his team’s clash against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Friday. According to McVay, there is a strong possibility that the injury could see Donald remain on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.

Donald suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 12 during his team’s 10-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Soon after Donald’s injury, McVay announced that the team would monitor his progress on a weekly basis to determine when he could be considered fit enough to return to action.

McVay revealed on Friday that while Donald is making good progress in his recovery, he is unlikely to be cleared to play by the Rams’ medical staff before the conclusion of the season.

“Will he be fully cleared to be Aaron Donald?” McVay commented. “And if he is, then we talk to him and see. But if not, we’ll err on the side of being smarter. But obviously, he’s a guy that has certainly earned the right where you talk to him. But he’s not cleared yet and I don’t know that I see that changing in the next couple weeks.”

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been cleared to play in the game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday after being cleared of concussion protocol. Following his absence during the Rams’ 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, Stafford has been on the mend, becoming a full participant in the teams’ training all week.

Stafford entered concussion protocol on November 8 after the Rams’ Week 9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers after the team’s medical staff determined that this was the “appropriate” action following an examination of the player. After the game, coach Sean McVay revealed that he did not see any indication during the game that Stafford had been dealing with concussion symptoms.

Although Stafford is listed as being available for Sunday’s game, McVay has confirmed that quarterback Bryce Perkins may back up Stafford against the Saints should the need arise. Fellow quarterback John Wolford, who played in Stafford’s place against the Cardinals last week, has been listed on the team’s injury report after suffering a neck injury.

Prior to entering concussion protocol, Stafford had completed 68.4% of his passes for 1,928 yards this season along with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Los Angeles Rams’ Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib hasn’t played football since Week 3, but it looks like he could be ready to help his team on Sunday against Detroit Lions. Talib, who underwent ankle surgery in September, was taken off the injured reserve list early this week and already did one practice on Wednesday.

He did a good job,” – said Rams’ coach Sean McVay. “I think he got more and more comfortable as the practice progressed, which was a positive thing.

Although he expects Talib to play in the Lions’ game, McVay isn’t sure about the workload the 32-year-old will have.

[That] is something that we’re going to continue to evaluate based on the way that his ankle responds,” – he added.

Aqib Talib came to Los Angeles this offseason when the Rams traded a fifth-round pick to Denver Broncos to get him. In three games Talib played in 2018, he had nine tackles, two pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

During his time in NFL, Talib was named five consecutive times to Pro Bow, from 2013 to 2017, and has one First-team All-Pro honors. He is also a Super Bowl champion, lifting the prestigious trophy with Denver Broncos in 2015.

The Los Angeles Rams are expected to face the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday without top quarterbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. Both players suffered lower leg injuries last Sunday in the Rams’ 35-23 victory over the Chargers.

Linebacker Dominique Easley also suffered a knee injury, putting the Rams’ chances of extending their winning run to doubt.

If those guys aren’t able to go, it’s going to be some big voids that we’ve got to be ready to fill and set up,” Coach Sean McVay said.

Contrary to earlier reports, Peters suffered an injury to the calf and not his Achilles. The 25-year-old was helped off the field 6 minutes before the second quarter ended. After the match, the quarterback was spotted with a knee-high plastic boot covering his right leg.

Meanwhile, Talib suffered a high-ankle sprain and will likely be sidelined for at least one month. He left the locker room with a knee-high plastic boot on his left leg.

With three players injured and less than a week to the game, coach McVay will have to dig deep for good replacements. The Vikings have some of the best receivers in the league and look forward to ending Rams’ 3-0 winning run.
