The Los Angeles Angels continued to make moves during the MLB’s offseason on Monday, acquiring closer Raisel Iglesias in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds.

After naming a new general manager in Perry Minasian and trading for slick-fielding Orioles shortstop Jose Iglesias, Los Angeles added yet another player who is set to be a big boost for their long-maligned bullpen.

Iglesias, who has spent the past six seasons of his career with the Reds, will join the Angels in a deal that sent righty reliever Noe Ramirez and a player to be named later or cash considerations to Cincinnati.

Since debuting in the big leagues, Iglesias has become one of the best and most consistent relievers in the league. His career ERA of 3.15 was improved upon in an excellent 2020, which saw the righty post a 2.74 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched.

The Angels, who are said to be committed to rebuilding their bullpen and pitching staff as a whole this offseason, have taken a big step towards locking down the back end of their relief corps with the acquisition of Iglesias.

The 30-year-old slinger is set to report to Spring Training in February with his new club.
