The Las Vegas Raiders and the Chicago Bears matchup in Week 7 promises to be quite an intriguing game. According to reports, neither of the two teams will have their starting quarterbacks on the field and could instead have rookie signal-callers under center for the clash.

The Raiders’ starter, Jimmy Garoppolo, is dealing with a back injury that has caused him to miss the Week 6 win over the New England Patriots. The Las Vegas team played veteran Brian Hoyer against the Pats, but head coach Josh McDaniels could reportedly turn to rookie Aidan O’Connell against the Bears.

O’Connell, a fourth-round pick out of Purdue, has been electric in the preseason but struggled in Week 4 starts against the Las Vegas Raiders. He finished the Chargers game with 238 passing yards but threw one interception and fumbled the ball three times.

The Bears, on the other hand, ruled out starter Justin Fields due to a thumb injury on Friday. Instead of Fields, Chicago announced that they would start first-year quarterback Tyson Bagent. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Shepherd, Bagent saw some action in last week’s 13-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Entering the game instead of injured Fields, Bagent completed 71.4 percent of his passes while throwing for 83 yards and one interception.

The Raiders are currently riding a two-game win streak and are second in the AFC West with a 3-3 record. The Bears dead last in the NFC North with a 1-5 record.

The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo passed his training camp physical with the Las Vegas Raiders, a league source confirmed on Sunday. The 31-year-old player spent the offseason recovering from a foot injury.

As a result of his injury, Garoppolo did not participate in any of the Raiders’ on-field activities during the offseason. The source claimed that Garoppolo would be eased back into the team “at the right pace.”

Garoppolo joined the Raiders on a three-year, $72.75 million free agent on March 17. Prior to his arrival Garoppolo signed a waiver/release in place of a physical due to the foot injury that he incurred back in December, while he still played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Following his arrival in Las Vegas, Garoppolo underwent surgery on his left foot, after which he was limited to classroom work during the Raiders’ OTAs and minicamps. He was primarily signed to replace nine-year starter Derek Carr; a decision that was viewed as controversial by fans due to the new arrival’s injury status.

Still, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels affirmed that he is not concerned over the team’s quarterback situation, thereby expressing confidence in Garoppolo and his recovery from injury.

The Las Vegas Raiders reached a deal with free agent tight end Austin Hooper on Wednesday. The details of the agreement remain undisclosed.

Hooper’s move to the Raiders comes after the player was released by the Cleveland Browns last year. Before that, he played for the Tennessee Titans, signing a one-year, $6 million deal before the 2022 season. Although he got off to a slow start in Tennessee, Hooper improved gradually as the season progressed, posting 24 of his 41 receptions during the last eight games.

Despite only playing two games for the Titans, Hooper made two receiving touchdowns, tying for third in the team with Robert Woods. He also made 503 snaps; the second-highest total on the team.

Originally drafted out of Stanford by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2016 Draft, Hooper is a two-time Pro-Bowl selection. He then signed a four-year $44 million contract with the Browns in 2020.

Jakobi Meyers has agreed to a three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, sources revealed to ESPN on Tuesday. The wide receiver’s deal, worth $33 million, includes a guaranteed $21 million.

Meyers was snapped up by the Raiders as an unrestricted free agent; the first time that he had been in this predicament since his time as an undrafted free agent out of NC State in 2019. He was most recently at the New England Patriots, where he played in 60 regular season games and made 235 receptions for 2,758 yards and eight touchdowns. This is the most career receptions and yards for an undrafted free agent in Patriots history.

In 2022, Meyers played for the Patriots on a $3.98 million restricted free-agent contract. This succeeded his initial three-year, $1.76 million contract with the team that included a $10,000 signing bonus.

Recruited to NC State as a quarterback, Meyers had transitioned to the role of wide receiver, where he played the last three seasons for the Patriots. He still uses his old quarterback skills when it comes to trick plays.

The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jarrett Stidham will be making the very first start of his NFL career when his team faces the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday. Currently, the 49ers have the number-one ranked defense in the league, thereby posing a fearsome challenge for the newly-installed starting quarterback.

Having appeared in 11 games in his NFL career to date, Stidham arrived at the Raiders in 2021 after spending the first three seasons of his career with the New England Patriots. Stidham was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

“You dream of playing in the NFL as a kid,” Stidham reflected. “

“And to start a game in the NFL, it’s a dream come true. But at the same time … I’ve tried to prepare the same every single week. Obviously, I’ve gotten to learn under a bunch of really good guys, players, coaches. So, I’ve always tried to treat the weeks the same, and it’s no different this week.”

In addition to having to cope against the 49ers’ solid defense, Stidham also has to deal with the pressure of convincing coach Josh McDaniels that he is capable of retaining the starting quarterback slot over the long term.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ chances of making the playoffs for the first time in four years are down to a minimum after they suffered a surprising 24-30 overtime loss against the LA Chargers on Thursday night.

The Raiders entered the game as notable favorites, facing a team that was plagued by injuries, as well as being led by a rookie quarterback. However, it turned out that the Chargers came to Allegiant Stadium wanting a win more than their opponents.

The Chargers were the first ones to get points on the board thanks to a nicely executed 78-yard drive that culminated with Justin Herbert’s touchdown pass to tight end Hunter Henry.

The Raiders were close to hitting back but couldn’t find their way to the endzone, and had to be content with a field goal. In the meantime, starting quarterback Derek Carr suffered an injury, and backup Marcus Mariota took his place.

Mariota immediately got in sync with the Raiders’ offense and found tight end Darren Waller for a 35-yard score.

This turned out to be all for the Raiders in the first half, with the Chargers rallying back for 10 unanswered points before the clock ran out.

The third quarter saw an exchange of rushing TDs before Mariota managed to level the score halfway through the fourth quarter.

Both teams attempted to seal the game with a field goal attempt, but the Chargers’ Michael Badgley missed from 51 yards while the Raiders never got theirs off the ground thanks to a bad snap.

In overtime, the Raiders orchestrated a nice drive that ended with them putting three points on the scoreboard. However, the Chargers used their possession much better and took it all thanks to a QB sneak from Herbert.

With this win, the Chargers improve to a 5-9 record and find themselves on a two-game winning streak.

The Raiders, on the other hand, are now 7-7 and out of the playoff picture. They will most likely stay there when the regular season wraps up.

The Raiders kicked off their Las Vegas era in the best way possible. On Monday night, the Raiders welcomed New Orleans Saints for their first-ever home game at Allegiant Stadium and managed to celebrate an unlikely 34-24 win.

The Raiders entered the game slowly, being held scoreless in the first quarter and falling behind 10 to enter the second period. However, fueled by quarterback Derek Carr’s two touchdown passes, the Raiders managed to tie the game 17-17 before the end of the first half.

Carr threw another touchdown pass in the third quarter, while Jalen Richard rushed for a TD midway through the fourth to give the Raiders a nice 31-17 cushion ahead of the closing period of the game. Saints responded with a touchdown rush by Alvin Kamara, but their comeback attempt ended there.

Kicker Daniel Carlson removed all doubts about the winner less than two minutes before the end, delivering a 54-yarder that set the final score of 34-24 and improved the Raiders to 2-0 record.

The Raiders were led by Carr, who finished the game with 282 passing yards and three TD scores. His favorite target was tight end Darren Waller, who had 12 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown, while back Josh Jacobs added 88 rushing yards.

“This organization means everything to me,” said Carr after the game. “They’ve stuck behind me through some hard times. Through some times our team, we struggled, there’s no doubt about it. But when you can get on the other side of things, be 2-0, as the Las Vegas Raiders, that’s a pretty cool thing.”

Saints’ best player on the field was Kamara, who had 174 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. However, the absence of star wideout Michael Thomas and shaky outing by signal-caller Drew Brees prevented New Orleans from doing more in this game.

Brees threw for 312 yards and a TD but also had a key interception that likely shifted the momentum towards the Raiders.

“If there’s one thing I wish I could take back from the game, it would be that,” said Brees. “Otherwise, we had a lot of mental errors. I felt like we were not playing as fast and just as sure and confident.”

Saints will look to bounce back against Green Bay Packers on Sunday while the Raiders face New England Patriots in hopes of extending their winning streak to three games.

There will be a number of NFL teams looking to draft a quarterback in this year’s draft, but don’t expect Las Vegas Raiders to be one of them. According to the team’s general manager Mike Mayock, Raiders “feel really good” about the players that they have on the position.

There has been a lot of talk about the Raiders’ QB position ever since Jon Gruden took over the team in 2018. The starter Derek Carr has had its ups and downs, and the team reportedly entertained the idea of trading him. According to rumors, they were also one of the teams interested in Tom Brady before he signed with Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Still, the Raiders ended up settling on just bringing a veteran competition for Carr in former Tennessee Titans’ signal-caller Marcus Mariota, and believe they now have a strong QB core.

“We’re very appreciative to have Derek Carr,” said Mayock during a conference call with reporters on Tuesday. “Jon [Gruden’s] offense, he’s going into year three of it. Marcus Mariota, Jon and I both know him very, very well. We feel really good about the quarterback position.”

Mariota, who was Titans’ second overall pick in 2015, signed with Raiders this offseason hoping to bounce back after a season in which he was benched for Ryan Tannehill. Mayock believes that he’ll get the chance to redeem himself with Raiders.

“He wants to become the best version of Marcus Mariota that he can become, and that’s the way we look at it. Let’s see who the best Marcus Mariota is, and in the meantime, we love what we have with Derek Carr,” he added.

Raiders ended the 2019 season 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the fifth time during Derek Carr’s reign at QB. However, what allowed Carr to keep his starting position is increased production, as he delivered one of his most statistically impressive seasons as a pro. He finished the year with 70.4 percent pass completion while throwing for 4,054 yards, 21 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Oakland Raiders managed to get the win in Week 1 against Denver Broncos on Monday night, but that came with a significant price. The team confirmed on Wednesday that their rookie safety Johnathan Abram suffered a shoulder injury during the game and will be placed on the Injured Reserve list.

The first reports say that Abram, who was the Raiders’ first-round pick in 2019, is expected to have surgery on his shoulder next week, which would effectively end his season. The 22-year-old had an encouraging NFL debut, playing 57 snaps against Broncos and recording five tackles and one pass defended.

“He’s everything as advertised. He’d probably play this week if we let him,” – said Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. “But he’s going to have surgery I think tomorrow, and we’re just keeping him in our thoughts and prayers, and we’re going to miss him no doubt.”

Raiders will now probably turn to veteran Curtis Riley to be their top pick on the safety position. Riley started his career as a cornerback, but played the entire 2018 season as a free safety with New York Giants. He ended the year with 75 tackles, five passes defended, four interceptions, and one touchdown.

Oakland Raiders will play on Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum stadium in 2019 as well. According to the Review Journal, The Coliseum Authority unanimously voted to extend Raiders’ lease for one more year, fiving the team an opportunity to play a farewell season in Oakland before relocating to Las Vegas in 2020.

According to reports, the Raiders will be required to pay $7.5 million in rent for using the stadium and headquarters in Alameda. The agreement also has a $10.5 million option for 2020, in case that the team’s new stadium in Las Vegas doesn’t get finished on time.

It appeared that the Raiders will have to find a new home for 2019 season after Oakland sued the team and NFL for Las Vegas move. This prompted the team’s owner, Mark Davis, to end the negotiations about extending the lease for using Oakland Coliseum in 2019 and start exploring new options. Several other venues were considered, including playing at San Francisco Giants’ Oracle Arena.

Davis has been looking to relocate the Raiders since 2011 and ultimately decided to move the team to Las Vegas. NFL team owners approved the move in March 2017 with the plan that Raiders start playing their home games on Las Vegas Stadium in 2020. The stadium, worth $1.8 billion, is still under construction and is expected to be finished until August 2020.
