After a knee injury took him out for most of the 2021 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins’ running back Raheem Mostert is ready to go again. Mostert shared the happy news with his social media followers on Monday.

“Wanted to give you all an update … Yah Boy is CLEARED!!! It’s go time!!” wrote Mostert on Twitter.

“It’s been a long journey to get to this point!! I have so many people to thank,” the 30-year-old player added a while later in a series of tweets.

Raheem Mostert, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2015, spent most of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. In six years with the franchise, he played in 46 games and rushed for 1,610 yards and 11 touchdowns while also adding 36 catches for 361 yards and three TDs. The Purdue product went down in Week 1 of the 2021 season with chipped cartilage in his left knee.

Despite the injury, Mostert managed to land a deal with the Miami Dolphins during the offseason. He will reunite with former San Francisco offensive coordinator and now Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel in 2022. Despite the familiarity of the two, Mostert will have to work hard to find a significant role on the offense as Miami added several more running backs in free agency in an attempt to bolster their backfield.

The San Francisco 49ers appear to have lost a starting running back for the next few weeks after learning that Raheem Mostert suffered a high ankle sprain in the team’s 24-16 over the Rams on Sunday.

Mostert, the 49ers’ leading rusher this season, is probably heading to the injured reserve list for the next three games, at minimum, leaving the Niners and coach Kyle Shanahan without one of their key offensive pieces.

The veteran running back appeared to suffer the injury in the second quarter of the game. He attempted to play in the third quarter, but exited the game and did not return after only one carry.

Jerick McKinnon and rookie JaMycal Hasty shouldered the load at the position during the rest of the game, combining to rush for 15 carries and 55 yards.

If Mostert heads to the injury reserve list, he will miss the Niners’ games at New England, at Seattle, and vs. Green Bay, at minimum. It will be a difficult loss for the Niners to replace, as Mostert’s consistency on the ground has been a crucial element of their success over the past two seasons.

Mostert will now look to recover and speed up his rehabilitation process so that he can return to the field as quickly as possible.
