After winning 2-0 at Anfield in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final matchup against FC Porto, Liverpool just had to be sure not to slip up at the Estádio do Dragão in order to advance to their second consecutive semi-final in the competition.

They certainly didn’t disappoint, as Jürgen Klopp’s Reds comfortably cruised to a 1-4 victory in Portugal to advance into the final four of the competition.

Liverpool suffered a few scares in the first 25 minutes of the game, as they struggled to create offensive chances and saw Porto get shots on goal several times.

The first time Liverpool got a shot, however, it was a different story. Sadio Mané scored to put the Reds up 0-1 in the 26th minute, virtually sealing Liverpool’s place in the next round.

After the break, superstar forward Mo Salah joined the ranks of the scorers with a 65th-minute goal to put his team up by 2.

Eder Militão headed in Porto’s only goal just three minutes later to add a tiny bit of suspense to the contest, but a Virgil van Dijk and a Roberto Firmino goal for Liverpool in the game’s final stretch certified Liverpool’s advance into the semi-finals.

There, a huge matchup awaits against FC Barcelona, possibly the competition’s favorite. The semi-final tie will open at Camp Nou on May 1 before moving to Anfield on May 7.

Liverpool took care of business in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final draw against Porto FC on Tuesday night.

The Reds will travel to Portugal with a 2-0 advantage in the tie after winning by that margin at Anfield on Tuesday.

Porto couldn’t keep up with Liverpool, which came out to bury their opposition quickly and painfully.

Liverpool took a 1-0 lead in only the 5th minute of the match after a beautiful combination between Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Firmino found a trailing Naby Keita in the box, who buried a shot past Iker Casillas to give Liverpool the edge.

The Reds didn’t stop there, however. Roberto Firmino got a goal of his own in the 26th minute of the match when Trent Alexander-Arnold found him in the box with a beautiful cross.

The Brazilian forward converted his shot, putting Liverpool up 2-0 and turning Anfield into a madhouse.

While Liverpool was unable to put more goals on the scoreboard, they did keep Porto from scoring, which gives them a strong advantage in the tie.

The second leg of the draw will be played next week at Porto’s Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night. Porto will look to pull off an upset, but Jurgen Klopp and his side have to be happy with their edge going into the match.

After losing in Rome by a 2-1 final, FC Porto completed a comeback of their own in the Estádio do Dragão to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time since 2014.

The match finished with a 3-1 final score.

90 minutes of regulation were not enough to decide a winner, as Porto and Roma were deadlocked in the draw 2-1 at the end of regulation.

In the added 30 minutes of time, however, Porto was awarded a penalty after a Roma player pulled Fernando’s jersey in the the box.

Alex Telles converted the penalty for Porto in the 117th minute, and the champions of Portugal held on to win the draw.

Roma was unable to capitalize on a Daniele de Rossi penalty goal that tied the game at 1-1 in the 37th minute that put them provisionally in the next round.

Porto’s Moussa Marega scored a goal to give his team a 2-1 lead in the second half, and the rest was history.

Porto now must await for the draw to find out who their opponent will be in the next round.
