The Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers revealed on Saturday afternoon that star center Joel Embiid is a doubt for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals to be played against the Boston Celtics on Monday night.

“There is no latest,” Rivers said of the sprained LCL the Embiid is dealing with in his right knee. “Obviously, the doctors looked at him, and he didn’t do anything today. I’ll say this, but if I was a betting man, I would probably say doubtful for at least Game 1. But we’ll see.”

Embiid suffered his injury during Game 3 of the Sixers’ first-round sweep of the Brooklyn Nets. When the media was allowed onto the court for Philadelphia’s practice last Saturday afternoon, Embiid was absent. He subsequently sat out of Game 4 against the Nets.

Should Embiid remain unavailable by the time of the 76ers’ trip to the TD Garden on Monday, the team is expected to use reserve Paul Reed in his place.

Joel Embiid has become the favorite in the race for NBA MVP after he scored 52 points to lift the Philadelphia 76ers to a 101-103 win over the Boston Celtics. With just five games remaining in the regular season, the Sixers are on course to clinch a playoff spot.

“We did so many things wrong,” Philadelphia head coach Doc Rivers said of his team’s narrow victory over the Celtics. “But what we did right was Joel Embiid. The MVP race is over.”

Sixers guard James Harden, who joined the team from the Brooklyn Nets in 2021, stated after the game that Embiid should win the MVP award. Harden was one of the Sixers’ standout players on the night, scoring 20 points and providing 10 assists in 40 minutes.

In addition to grabbing 52 points, Embiid delivered an impressive 20 from 25 shooting performance. In doing so, Embiid became the first player in the shot clock era to score more than half of his team’s points and shoot 80% from the field.

Joel Embiid scored 53 points as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 131-113 on Sunday night. The 76ers now sit in 5th place on the Eastern Conference standings.

As a result of his haul, Embiid becomes the third player in Sixers’ history to score more than 50 points in multiple games during the same season. Embiid joins Allen Iverson (2000-01 and 2004-05) as well as Wilt Chamberlain (1965-66 and 1967-68) in this exclusive club.

Embiid’s standout moment of the game came late in the second quarter when he scored 15 points in the last three minutes to extend the Sixers’ lead going into the break.

“He was in attack mode for the entire game,” teammate James Harden said of Embiid. “He made scoring look easy tonight. He was aggressive getting to the basket and his jumper was falling.” Following Embiid, Harden was a standout performer on the night, scoring 19 points, 16 assists, and nine rebounds.

When asked about his strong showing against the Hornets, Embiid brushed over his individual performance, instead insisting that the win was the most important achievement on the night.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Tuesday that their superstar Joel Embiid underwent thumb surgery to address the injury that hampered him during the team’s recent playoff run. As part of the procedure, the doctors also addressed the issue Embiid had with his index finger.

According to the 76ers, Embiid is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp for the 2022-23 NBA season.

Embiid suffered the thumb injury in Game 3 of the first-round series against the Toronto Raptors. While the injury didn’t cause him to miss games, it did affect his ability to shoot the ball and grab rebounds. The 28-year-old player would go on to suffer another injury in the Raptors series, a facial fracture, which ruled him out for the beginning of the second-round matchup against the Miami Heat.

Embiid’s struggles to stay healthy and All-Star guard James Harden’s failure to take the leading role have resulted in the 76ers being eliminated in six games by the Heat. This was the fourth time in the past five postseasons that Philly ended its playoffs in the second round.

Despite the lack of team success, Joel Embiid had a career season on an individual level. He finished second in MVP voting while leading the league in scoring with 30.6 points per game. Embiid became the first center to do the latter since 2000 and Shaquille O’Neal.

The Philadelphia 76ers still can’t find a way to complete “The Process.” Despite making significant front office and coaching changes in the offseason, the 76ers were once again handed an unexpected early playoff exit.

This time, the Sixers were eliminated in the conference semifinals after suffering a shocking 103-96 to young and playoff inexperienced Atlanta Hawks team on Sunday night in a home Game 7.

Despite playing inconsistently during the series and blowing significant leads, Philly entered the pivotal game as an overwhelming favorite. And they played the part early on, entering the second quarter with a 28-25 advantage, before going through another meltdown.

Like so many times in the series, the Hawks crawled their way back and found a way to get the better out of their opponent. After erasing Philadelphia’s advantage early in the second period, Atlanta took control of the game and never relinquished it. The 76ers made few runs to get back in the driving seat, but their offensive inefficiency did not allow them to come close enough.

The Hawks were led by Kevin Huerter, who had a career-high with 27 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Philly managed to keep Atlanta’s star guard Trae Young in check, limiting him to 5-23 shooting, but he still managed to score 21 points to go with his 10 assists.

Joel Embiid had a monster outing for the 76ers, managing 31 points and 11 boards despite playing on a meniscus tear. But that wasn’t enough as Philadelphia’s All-Star guard Ben Simmons had another disappointing night offensively. Simmons only had five points, making it the fourth game in the series that he wasn’t in double digits scoring.

The Atlanta Hawks are now headed to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will face the Milwaukee Bucks. It’s an amazing feat for a Hawks team that opened the season with a 14-20 record and hasn’t been in the playoffs for the past three years.

Philadelphia, on the other hand, will have to make some tough decisions in the offseason if they don’t want to continue finishing their season early.

The discussions about the best basketball player in the world are relevant as ever, but if you ask Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid, the discussion isn’t necessary. According to the All-Star center, this title belongs to him.

Embiid had a monster game on Thursday night in which he poured in 39 points and grabbed 16 boards to fuel 76ers to a 112-104 overtime win over Brooklyn Nets. After the contest, the 25-year-old said that his attitude was a continuation of aggressive play he had in the All-Star game.

“The All-Star Game was fun. Being there in the fourth quarter, doing my thing at the end of the game, I thought it was great,” said Embiid.

Embiid then added that his role as “the best player in the world” requires him to compete each night.

“But the All-Star Game, just proving I’m here, I belong, and being the best player in the world, I just intend to keep coming out every single night and just play hard and trying to get wins and just go out and try to win a championship,” he explained.

While Joel Embiid is certainly in discussion for being in the top 10 – 15 best players in basketball, he didn’t even come close to show he deserves any higher consideration. Besides struggling with injuries, Embiid is having rather an average year, putting up 23.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. And this isn’t even the biggest dent in his claim.

76ers are struggling mightily this season, despite having a loaded team that features All-Stars in Embiid and Ben Simmons, as well as quality complementary pieces in Tobias Harris and Al Horford. Philly is currently fifth in the East and will have to work really hard to even get home-court advantage for the playoffs.

If Embiid intends to put himself in the “best player” conversation, he will have to show much more than he’s doing now. Winning some games would also help.

The Philadelphia 76ers were dealt some unfortunate news this week, finding out that star big man Joel Embiid is dealing with a torn ligament in his left hand that will sideline him indefinitely.

Embiid suffered an ugly-looking injury in the first quarter of Philadelphia’s 120-113 win on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite hurting his hand, he was able to finish the game before being further evaluated the next day.

After evaluation, team doctors discovered that Embiid had suffered a torn fourth metacarpal ligament. The injury will be treated with surgery, and it is unknown when he will be able to return to the court.

Embiid, the 25-year-old center, has been one of the most dominant players in the league when he hasn’t been sidelined with injuries. After missing his first NBA season with a foot injury and parts of the next three seasons with various ailments, he has now suffered another setback that will keep him off of the court for a time.

The two-time All Star’s absence will be felt strongly by the 76ers, who will miss Embiid’s 23.4 points and 12.3 rebounds per game as they look to stay near the top of the competitive Eastern Conference.

For now, fans will just have to wait and see to find out when the Sixers’ star will be able to return to the court.

Watching Kawhi Leonard’s buzzer beater going in and winning Game 7 for the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night made the world fell apart for Philadelphia 76ers’ superstar Joel Embiid. While Raptors players were celebrating this big win, Embiid started walking towards the locker room with his head held down and tears in his eyes. This is when Toronto’s center Marc Gasol decided to make one of the classiest moves in these playoffs and approached Embiid to console him.

Gasol knew really well how it is to be on the losing end of Game 7 better than anyone. During his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Spaniard played three times in Game 7 in the postseason and lost all of them. This is why he decided to offer some words of comfort to Embiid and let him know that he will have a chance to do better next time.

Speaking with the reporters after the game, Embiid didn’t want to reveal what Gasol told him, but he did say he has a “lot of respect” for him.

“Marc has a lot of class, obviously I have a lot of respect for him,” – said Embiid. “I won’t share anything but he was just talking to me, making sure to let me know that I’ll be right there at this moment and further in my career. I have a lot of respect for him and he’s a great guy.”

Joel Embiid and Marc Gasol battled it out throughout the entire series, providing a must-see matchup for the fans. Using his experience and veteran skills, Gasol made it really tough for Embiid as his primary defender, limiting the 76ers’ big man to just 17.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in the series.

After losing Game 1 in Toronto, the Philadelphia 76ers have stormed ahead to win two consecutive games in the Eastern Conference semi-finals and take a 2-1 series lead over the Toronto Raptors.

Philadelphia returned home and blew out the Raptors by a 116-95 final score at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.

The Sixers were fueled by a rowdy and raucous crowd that created a hostile environment for Toronto.

Center Joel Embiid had a monster performance for Philadelphia, scoring 33 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on the night. The Raptors’ Marc Gasol just couldn’t contain him inside of the paint, and Sixers fans showered Embiid with “MVP!” chants all night long.

All of Philadelphia’s starting 5 finished with double-digit points on the night. As per usual, Jimmy Butler was the number two option behind Embiid, chipping in 22 points of his own along with 9 boards and 9 assists.

Kawhii Leonard had another excellent game for the Raptors, also scoring 33, but it simply wasn’t enough to overcome an excellent team performance by the 76ers.

The series will continue with Game 4 on Saturday night in Philly.

Two of the top teams squared off on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee in a game that did not disappoint.

The East’s top team, the Milwaukee Bucks, mounted a furious battle but ultimately came up short in a 130-125 final against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Philadelphia, currently in position to be the Eastern Conference’s #3 seed in the playoffs, officially clinched a playoff berth in the process with their victory.

Sunday’s affair was an exciting, high-scoring clash. The Sixers and Bucks traded countless buckets during a high-flying game that was frantic and played with lots of intensity.

Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo gave his team a herculean effort. He tallied 52 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in one of the MVP candidate’s best games of the year. However, no other Buck scored more than 19 points.

Philadelphia won largely due to Joel Embiid’s monster game of his own. The Philly center registered a double-double of his own, scoring 40 points and tallying 15 rebounds to lead his team to a big win.

Jimmy Butler also came up big for the 76ers, as he scored 27 points and was a constant threat.

Milwaukee still has a comfortable lead for the top spot in the East, but Philadelphia’s win on Sunday showed them that they are not invincible. They might be the conference favorites, but teams like the 76ers will be in the fight until the end.
