Despite an impressive resume, which includes eight Pro Bowl appearances, veteran corner Patrick Peterson remains a free agent. Teams seem to be vary of the fact that Peterson will turn 34 in July, but the player himself believes that shouldn’t be a concern because he still has “a lot left in the tank”.

During an appearance on NFL on Fox over the weekend, Peterson said that he isn’t too worried about whether he’ll have a team for the 2024 season. His representatives have already been in contact with several teams, and he expects his market to pick up after the upcoming draft.

“I do feel like I still have a lot left in the tank and can provide, not only leadership, but playmaking ability to whatever team desires to have me on their roster,” Peterson said. “At this point and stage in my career, going through the free-agent process, I’m just taking it a day at a time.”

Peterson spent the 2023 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, inking a one-year deal at the start of the free agency. He played in all 17 games, making 16 starts, and finished the campaign with 42 tackles, 11 passes defended, and two interceptions.

Patrick Peterson previously spent the first 10 seasons of his pro career with the Arizona Cardinals before embarking on a two-year stint with the Minnesota Vikings. Besides his eight Pro Bowls, Peterson also has three First-team All-Pro nods and was selected to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are bolstering their secondary with veteran corner Patrick Peterson. The eight-time Pro Bowler is reportedly set to sign a two-year deal with the franchise.

Peterson is expected to get a $7.15 million guaranteed salary for the 2023 season, with the second year being a team option. If the Steelers decide to keep him for 2024, he will get an additional $6.85 million.

While Pittsburgh still hasn’t made the signing official, Peterson himself confirmed the news on social media and his weekly All Things Covered podcast.

Speaking on All Things Covered, Peterson said that he always admired the Steelers franchise and their coach Mike Tomlin, which played a big role in his decision to go to Pittsburgh.

“My agent was doing his job, and he was calling around and seeing what teams were wanting to have me in their locker room, and Pittsburgh was one of those teams we felt would be a great destination for me,” Peterson added.

The 32-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, totaling 111 tackles, 20 passes defended, six interceptions, and one defensive touchdown. He said that returning to the Vikings was a real option, but the business side of the deal didn’t work out.

“I definitely wanted to go back to Minnesota,” he explained.

Peterson is now expected to provide veteran leadership to the Steelers and step in for Cameron Sutton, who decided to sign with the Detroit Lions earlier this week. Besides his eight Pro Bowls, Peterson also has two First-Team All-Pro nods on his resume. He has a total of 610 tackles, 111 pass deflections, 34 interceptions, and six touchdowns throughout his 12 years in the league.

Veteran All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson won’t be one-and-done in Minnesota after all. On Wednesday, Peterson announced that he would return to the Vikings for 2022 after agreeing to a one-year deal with the franchise.

Peterson revealed the news in the new episode of the All Things Covered podcast.

“I’m gonna stay put in Minnesota and run it back with the guys. Keep it in the North,” Peterson said.

The Vikings also confirmed the news later in the day on their social media.

The 31-year-old corner joined the Vikings as a free agent during the 2021 offseason. While he didn’t put up the remarkable numbers in the 13 games he played last season; he still proved to be a valuable addition to the team. Peterson finished the campaign with 45 tackles, five passes defended, and one pick-six.

While discussing his free agency, Peterson explained that he had a number of suitors in recent weeks, including Super Bowl contenders like Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ultimately, however, he felt that his best option is to stay in Minnesota and be part of an “exciting” situation with the Vikings.

Patrick Peterson played 10 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before becoming part of the Vikings. While at its peak, Peterson was considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He made the Pro Bowl each year between 2011 and 2018 while also getting three First-team All-Pro nods in the same period.

Peterson, who was part of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, has 544 career tackles, 4.0 sacks, 96 pass deflections, and 29 interceptions.

Patrick Peterson’s first season with the Minnesota Vikings isn’t going as planned. After struggling to make a significant impact in the first six weeks, the Pro Bowl corner will now miss the following three on the injured reserve list.

The news was confirmed by the Vikings’ head coach Mike Zimmer, who told reporters on Monday that Peterson is dealing with a hamstring injury. The 31-year-old was hurt late in the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s thriller overtime win over the Carolina Panthers.

Zimmer also said that he believes Peterson isn’t dealing with a season-ending injury while adding that he trusts the rest of the team’s cornerback core to step up.

“Yeah, I feel fine,” Zimmer said via the Vikings’ official website. “Patrick has played really well. We’ll miss him, for sure. But Dantzler has done decent, and so has Breeland.”

Patrick Peterson joined Minnesota on a one-year, $10 million contract after spending the first decade of his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals. Peterson has been solid for the Vikings in coverage so far but lacks the big-time plays that were the staple of his career. Throughout the first six weeks of the campaign, he has 13 tackles and two pass deflections without any interceptions.

Second-year player Cameron Dantzler is expected to step in for Peterson as a starter moving forward. Dantzler has eight tackles and two pass deflections in four games he played in 2021.

Future Hall of Fame corner Patrick Peterson is leaving the Arizona Cardinals after spending 10 years with the organization. According to multiple reports, Peterson agreed to join the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year deal earlier this week.

Peterson, who became a free agent for the first time in his career, will reportedly earn $10 million in 2021.

The Cardinals publicly said earlier this year that they intended to re-sign Peterson, but it is unclear whether they made a real push to make it happen. The sides haven’t been on the best terms in recent years, with the 30-year-old veteran even asking for a trade early in the 2018 season.

At the time, Peterson was reportedly unhappy with the direction in which the franchise is going and had issues with the team’s struggles on the field. While the three-time All-Pro later withdrew his request, the relationship between him and the Cardinals front office remained fractured.

With the Vikings, Peterson will have a chance to make a fresh start and play a central role in the team’s secondary. He will also bring veteran leadership to an inexperienced corner corps that features second-year players Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler.

Peterson earned eight Pro Bowl nods during his time in Arizona and was selected into the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. He has 499 career tackles to go with 91 pass deflections, 28 interceptions, and five defensive touchdowns.

Several days ago, Arizona Cardinals’ All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson demanded a trade after the team’s 1-6 start of the season. Now, it looks like the 28-year-old changed his mind. Peterson decided to issue a statement, saying that his trade request came out of frustration and that he indents to be part of the Cardinals’ organization “for years to come.”

I’ve been incredibly frustrated with how the season has gone,” – said Peterson in a statement released on Twitter. “But my energy is 100% focused on being part of the solution & helping us turn this around. I’ve never shied away from a challenge before, and I’m not starting now. I have always given my all to the Cardinals organization, my teammates & fans. That is what I intend to do for the years to come. I am an Arizona Cardinal and my focus is on this week’s game.

While several NFL teams made calls to Arizona after finding out that Patrick Peterson wants out, the organization was determined not to let their best player go.

“I’ve seen the speculation. But it’s not happening. Not happening,” – said Cardinals’ owner Michael Bidwill last week.

“We’re not trading Patrick. That’s out of the question,” – coach Steve Wilks confirmed on Monday.

Patrick Peterson was selected fifth overall by Arizona Cardinals in the 2011 NFL Draft. Peterson made Pro Bowl selection each year since entering the league while receiving First-team All-Pro honors three times. His career stats include 366 tackles, 74 pass deflections, 23 interceptions, and five touchdowns.
