Patrick Mahomes was named MVP as he lifted the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl LVII victory with a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

Following the victory, Mahomes and the Chiefs will head to Disney World to partake in the winners’ parade, which is set to commence at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Mahomes walked away with the MVP title despite aggravating his high ankle injury during the first half of the Eagles’ game. He continued with the game despite the setback, even scrambling 26 yards on the drive leading up to the Chiefs’ game-winning field goal.

“It felt great until I kind of rolled it a little bit,” Mahomes said of his injury. “I thought I felt really good and then that happened, and I had a lot of soreness going through into halftime and was able to move it around, kind of get taped up a little bit, and go out there in that second half. It didn’t feel good, but I was going to leave it all out there.”

This triumph marks the Chiefs’ Super Bowl comeback, having lost 31-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers in Super Bowl LV. By winning this year’s Super Bowl, Mahomes becomes the 13th quarterback in the NFL to win multiple Super Bowl championships.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said that his right ankle is on the mend ahead of his team’s Super Bowl LVII showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He stated that he does not expect to be limited in terms of playing ability because of the injury setback, despite there being no guarantees.

“You won’t know exactly how it is until you get to game day,” Mahomes remarked. “I mean, I definitely move around better than I was moving last week or two weeks ago. So, it’s just trying to continue to get the treatment and the rehab and get it as close to 100% and then rely on some adrenaline to let me do a little bit extra when I’m on the field.”

Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain during the Chiefs’ Divisional Round 27-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on January 21, when a Jaguars’ pass rusher landed on it during the first quarter. While Mahomes pushed through his injury to see out the game, he had to alter his playing style in order to accommodate for his injury. Mahomes started the 23-20 Western Conference Championship win over the Cincinnati Bengals and is expected to play in Super Bowl LVII.

With his team set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recalled how the pain of losing Super Bowl LV has served as motivation to him and his teammates to win this year’s contest.

“The win is amazing,” Mahomes said with regard to his and the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV victory a year before their bitter defeat. “It’s one of the best moments of your entire life. You take away all the positives from that. But that loss, that stings. That motivates you for years. What it’s done for me is it’s motivated me to be back in this game again. I want to make sure that I can have that winning feeling and not that losing one because that losing feeling is one you’ll never forget.”

Upon facing the Eagles on Sunday, the Chiefs will appear in their third Super Bowl in four years. While Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain during this year’s divisional round playoff against Jacksonville Jaguars, he played around his injury as the Chiefs emerged victorious.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes battled through his high ankle sprain to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, thereby booking his team’s place in Super Bowl LVII.

“People don’t realize how hurt he was,” Kansas City general manager Brett Veach said of Mahomes. “We all saw the injury. High ankles are terrible injuries, and sometimes guys miss two, three weeks, and he was out there and running for a first down and a big play in the game that got us in field goal range. But it just adds to an already great legacy.”

Mahomes was injured during his team’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars a week ago. Despite incurring the injury midgame, Mahomes pushed through to see out the remainder of the contest and went on to state his intention to play in the following game against the Bengals.

Despite playing through injury, the Chiefs quarterback made 29-of-43 passing while fumbling the ball just once throughout the game against the Bengals. In addition, he performed his final snap 17 seconds before the end of the game, thereby handing his team a last-minute victory.

Kansas City will face the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to undergo toe surgery this week. The procedure is expected to fix the “turf toe” issue that bothered Mahomes pretty much the entire offseason.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mahomes will take several months recovering and is expected to miss most of the Chiefs’ offseason workouts. He is, however, expected to make full recovery and be ready in time for training camp.

Mahomes initially hurt his toe during the Divisional Playoff round win over the Cleveland Browns, when he also experienced a concussion. The 25-year-old superstar returned in time to face the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship and looked unfazed by either issue as he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns.

But Mahomes did have one of the worst games in his NFL career in the Super Bowl loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past weekend. He threw two interceptions while failing to score a single touchdown.

The reporters immediately linked the struggles with the toe injury after the contest, but the 2018 NFL MVP didn’t want to use it as an excuse.

“I can’t say the toe was a problem when I played two weeks ago, and I played well on it,” said Mahomes. “Anytime you play football, you have to battle through injuries.”

Patrick Mahomes has been injury-free for most of his NFL career so far. The only time he was out because of an injury was in 2019, when he missed two games.

Kansas City Chiefs don’t have to worry about losing their prized quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 24-year-old signal-caller recently told the media that he wants to be with Chiefs “for a long time.”

Chiefs recently exercised the fifth-year option on Mahomes’ rookie deal while making preliminary talks with the player’s representatives about the long-term extension. The two sides reportedly still have a long way to go, but the 2018’s NFL MVP believes the deal will eventually get done.

“Obviously I want to be a Chief for a long time,” said Mahomes. “I want to have a contract that says that and I can go out there and know I have that security. I understand and trust the Chiefs organization and everybody in it that they’re gonna handle it the right way.”

Mahomes added that he just wants to focus on football and is in no rush, leaving his agents to handle the business side.

“I trust my representation that they’re going to ease my mind and let me go out there and just love the game I love playing,” he explained. “So for me, whenever that happens, it happens. But I’m gonna focus on being the best football player I can be every single day.”

Since being installed as Chiefs’ starting QB in 2018, Patrick Mahomes established himself as one of the best players in the game. In his first season as a starter, he led the league in passing touchdowns while claiming NFL’s Most Valuable Player award alongside several other honors.

2019 saw Mahomes struggle with injuries in the regular season, but he stepped up when it mattered the most and led the Chiefs to their second Super Bowl title. He was also named Super Bowl MVP.

It seems like Kansas City Chiefs will have their franchise quarterback for many years to come. Patrick Mahomes, who led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win on Sunday, told the media that he intends to stay in Kansas City for “a long time.”

Speaking with reporters on Monday during the annual day-after news conference, Mahomes was asked about his contract extension and expectations for the future. The 24-year-old Super Bowl MVP didn’t, however, wanted to get into that much, and instead talked about his appreciation for the organization.

“To me, that’s stuff that’s handled with other people,” said Mahomes. “Obviously I want to be in Kansas City for a long time, understand that. I also want to win a lot of football games here and for me, it’s kind of letting that stuff handle itself.”

Mahomes is still a young player, but managed to accomplish impressive things so far. Besides being the league MVP in 2019, he now also became the second-youngest starting QB to win a Super Bowl while also becoming the youngest player to win both the ring and Super Bowl MVP.

“I’m in a great organization,” he added. “I have a great team of guys and girls working for me and so for me it’s about trusting those people, finding the best way to do it in order to have the best team around me and getting that done whenever the time is right.”

Patrick Mahomes wasn’t on his best in Super Bowl LIV for the most part of the game, throwing two picks and struggling until the fourth quarter. Still, when it mattered the most, the third-year signal-caller stepped in and propelled the Chiefs to an epic comeback win. He finished the game with 286 passing yards and two TDs.

Mahomes isn’t just writing his name in the history books with his good performance, but it looks like he’s also extending his head coach Andy Ried’s career. According to Ried, he isn’t even thinking about retirement, despite working almost 30 years in NFL, and Mahomes is one of the reasons for this.

“I don’t know. I haven’t. I still enjoy doing what I’m doing,” said Reid. “I got this young quarterback over here that makes life easy every day. Every day, man, it’s a pleasure to come to work and know that you have an opportunity to coach him and his teammates.”
