Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes cleared another big career milestone in a 41-10 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Mahomes finished the game with 272 passing yards, getting his career total to 25,044.

Mahomes is now the fastest QB in NFL history to reach 25K passing yards, needing only 83 games. The previous record was held by LA Rams’ Matthew Stafford, who did it in 90 games.

Mahomes cleared the 25K passing yards mark in the third quarter with a 37-yard throw for Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

“It really is cool,” Mahomes said after the game. “Doing it at Arrowhead … it’s a tremendous honor to be a part of this organization and be able to do stuff like that at this stadium. It’ll be stuff I remember the rest of my life.”

Mahomes didn’t finish the Bears’ game, exiting in the third quarter once the Chiefs got to a 41-0 lead. The reigning NFL MVP said that the decision was made because the game was already decided and not because of a rolled ankle he sustained in the first half.

“I would’ve been fine to play the rest of the game,” he said. “If anything, it kind of scared me more just being that ankle.

Mahomes had a slow start to the 2023 NFL season for his standards. He is completing 65.5% percent of his passes throughout the first three weeks while throwing for 803 yards, seven touchdowns, and two picks.

Mahomes added to his already long list of accomplishments on Monday night, when he helped the Chiefs to a statement 20-34 win over Baltimore Ravens on the road. In that game, the 25-year-old Mahomes became the fastest player to reach 10,000 passing yards in the history of the NFL.

Mahomes needed 34 NFL games to reach the mark, beating the previous record held by legendary Rams’ signal-caller Kurt Warner. Warner got to 10K in 36 games.

Mahomes finished the game against Baltimore by completing 31 out of 42 pass attempts for 385 yards and four touchdowns.

“The sky’s the limit for this kid,” said Mahomes’ wide receiver Sammy Watkins said. “He’s a special, rare breed of talent.”

After leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory last season, Patrick Mahomes isn’t showing signs of stopping down this year either. Three games into the season, Mahomes already has 898 passing yards and nine touchdowns without any interceptions. Kansas City won all three contests with an average 7-point margin.
