One of the biggest names left on the free agent board this MLB offseason inked a deal on Monday with the Cincinnati Reds, continuing the team’s frenetic recent activity.

Nicholas Castellanos, the free agent outfielder who played for the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs last year, agreed to a four-year deal with the Reds worth $64 million, according to multiple reports.

Castellanos was a key figure for the Cubs down the stretch, despite the team’s failure to qualify for the playoffs. He batted .321 with 16 home runs and 36 RBI in only 56 games for Chicago, finishing the season with a .289 average and 27 long balls in total.

The Miami-area native has been a consistent offensive force since breaking into the league at the end of the 2013 season at the tender age of 21. Converted from third base to the outfield due to his defensive problems at the hot corner, what has never failed to produce has been the slugger’s bat.

Castellanos, who turns 28 just before the start of the season, is expected to be a fixture in the Reds’ outfield for the next few years. He will be penciled in as the team’s right fielder heading into the 2020 season.

He is expected to report to Reds camp in Goodyear, Arizona for Spring Training next month.
