The Yankees continued their dominance of the Twins in the playoffs with a 3 game ALDS sweep. Minnesota broke the record for the most home runs in MLB history with 307, but was held to only 7 runs in 3 games on their way to an MLB record 16th consecutive postseason loss- 13 of which have come against the Yankees!

Luis Severino labored through 4 scoreless innings, and although it wasn’t as smooth as he hoped, Severino managed to get out of a bases-loaded no-out jam and hand the game over to the bullpen with a 0 on the scoreboard.

The Bronx Bombers proved they could win games in more ways than just home runs, by making a couple of key defensive plays and shutdown pitching. DJ LeMahieu, Didi Gregorius, and Aaron Judge contributed stellar plays on defense to snuff out the Twin’s rallies in numerous different innings.

Didi continued to erase his September slump with an RBI single and Cameron Maybin’s 9th inning homer took the life out of the packed Target Field crowd, as the Yankees won 5-1, the closest game in the series.

The Yankees will take on the winner of the Astros/ Rays series with the first game of the ALCS on Saturday.
