The NBA trade market is still not in full swing, but that isn’t stopping the New York Knicks from working the phones. According to The Athletic’s Fred Katz, the Knicks are looking to trade a number of their players, including veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier.

Fournier lost his place in the rotation after the abysmal start of the 2022-23 NBA season. In 13 games he went out on the court, the 30-year-old only averaged 6.9 points and 2.1 rebounds. Considering he is earning $18 million this season and $18.9 million next, it makes sense that the Knicks are trying to get rid of him.

However, the reports indicate that they are not willing to go out of their way to see Fournier leave. They haven’t shown a willingness to attach draft capital to his deal so far. The team would be open to getting a player with a bad deal in return, but only if they can get also get some additional assets in the process.

The Knicks would be willing to talk to other players as well. Katz reports the front office told other teams that Immanuel Quickley, Derrick Rose, and Cam Reddish are also available.

Out of the three, Quickley has the best chances to leave the town, as he has fans around the league. The only issue has been the Knicks’ asking price, which is believed to be a first-rounder.

New York Knicks decided to do a bit of frontcourt shuffling on Monday, waiving forward Ivan Rabb and signing Kenny Wooten to a two-way contract instead.

Rabb joined the Knicks in the offseason but failed to make a single appearance for the first team. Wooten, on the other hand, has been great for New York’s G League affiliate Westchester Knicks, averaging 7.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while having impressive 3.4 blocks per game.

Knicks’ decision to move on from Ivan Rabb was expected, especially since the team has plenty of frontcourt depth. Rabb showed promise last season when he made 49 appearances with Memphis Grizzlies and averaged 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds. In 2019/20, however, he didn’t manage to crack Knicks’ rotation, spending majority of the time with Westchester, where he averaged 13.3 points in 18 games.

Kenny Wooten, on the other hand, showed significant growth since the Knicks signed him as an undrafted free agent in the summer. He has been very efficient from the field while being a nightmare for opponents on the defensive side of the ball.

This all made Wooten a target for other NBA teams, including Golden State Warriors, who reportedly explored the possibility of bringing him in on a 10-day contract. In order to avoid the risk of losing the 21-year-old, Knicks decided to react quickly and get him under contract.

New York Knicks are looking to the future and building a team that will become a significant force in the NBA once again. It appears, however, that this future will not include their center Joakim Noah at every cost.

According to ESPN‘s sources, if Knicks are unable to find a trade partner for Noah and his two years, $37.8 million, contract, the team will use the NBA’s waive-and-stretch provision. This way they will have the 33-year-old off the team, and his salary cap hit divided into smaller amounts over the next three years.

After signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the New York Knicks in 2016, Joakim Noah’s career took a downward spiral shortly after. Due to various injuries, he was limited to 46 games in his first year with the team and averaged 5.0 points and 8.7 assists per game.

After missing the first part of the 2017-18 season due to another injury, Noah joined the team in November but only managed to be featured in seven games. He engaged in a heated verbal altercation with coach Jeff Hornacek and was absent from the team since.

Prior to joining Knicks, Joakim Noah was considered one of the league’s premier defenders. He was selected by the Chicago Bulls in 2007 NBA Draft with the ninth overall pick. He went on to earn two NBA All-Star selections and All-NBA First Team honors during his time in Chicago. Noah was also named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.

New York Knicks were not a model organization for some time now, so it isn’t strange that they couldn’t attract any big free agents this summer or make some blockbuster trades. But, according to the team’s newly appointed head coach David Fizdale, that will all change in the summer of 2019.

According to Fizdale, the Knicks will be in place to “make some big moves” next year.

[Knicks general manager] Scott [Perry] and [team president] Steve [Mills] have done an incredible job of lining it up so that we’re in a position next summer to make moves,” – Fizdale told reporters on Tuesday. “I just feel like with the relationships we’ve built and our approach to the game and our view of players and the way we view guys and the way we treat guys and the culture we want to build, I really think we’re going to find somebody who fits the bill. As we get our culture in place, [injured All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis] gets healthy, we start moving into next summer, I really feel like we’ll have the bricks in place to make some big moves.

One of that moves might be signing an All-Star caliber free-agent. Steve Mills spoke about Knicks’ cap situation last week and told reporters that the team aims to clear enough cap-space until next year so they can sign a max-salary player.

We feel like we’re going to put ourselves in a position where stars are going to want to come to us,” – said Mills during his appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show. “That’s what we think.

The 2019 free agency promises to be an exciting one, with Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Kemba Walker all set to become free agents.

Some of these names wouldn’t be a long shot, especially since Kyrie Irving listed the Knicks as one of his preferred destinations when he asked for a trade from Cleveland Cavaliers last year.

It looks like the New York Knicks’ fans don’t have to worry about losing their superstar Kristaps Porzingis after all. Porzingis’ relationship with the Knicks took a hit in 2017 due to 22-year-old’s growing frustration with the team’s front office. But, that’s all in the past now according to Knicks’ team president Steve Mills.

Mills made an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show on Thursday and said that he and general manager Scott Perry “worked really hard” in order to repair the broken relationship between two sides and that he now isn’t afraid that Porzingis might want to leave New York.

We’ve worked really hard in rebuilding the relationship with KP,” – Mills told Stephen A. Smith. “For Scott and me, it’s been with his brother [Janis Porzingis]. We had to make Janis, who is his agent and his brother, make him feel like he was part of our group and let him understand what we’re doing as a team, where we’re taking this thing. We communicate with KP all the time. And we know he feels good about directionally where we’re going. I think you can see that through some of his tweets and social media stuff, and our conversations with him. He’s back on board with where we’re going and we feel really good about his future with us.

After several turbulent years, New York Knicks decided to start clean in 2017 and make Kristaps Porzingis a cornerstone of their franchise. It turned out to be a good move since Knicks played great basketball and Porzingis proved to be an exceptional leader. He averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.4 blocks per game. Unfortunately, he tore his left ACL in February 2018 and had to undergo a season-ending surgery. He will probably be sidelined until early 2019.

After suffering a torn left ACL in February and undergoing a surgery, New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis is working on his return to the basketball court. Porzingis spoke with the media for the first time since the injury on Tuesday, saying he will come back “better and stronger” and that he keeps a “positive mindset” during the rehabilitation.

I believe that I’m going to come back better and stronger,” – said Porzingis. “[I’ve] been having a positive mindset this whole time and just going day by day, doing whatever I need to. Every day is a little progress, a little something, and just moving forward and getting better every day with my knee.

The 22-year-old didn’t want to specify the timetable for his return, saying he is still in the early rehab process. According to ESPN, Porzingis should remain off the court for at least 10 months since the date of the surgery. Porzingis will use the time off not only to heal his injury but also to strengthen his body more.

Not only just getting bigger and stronger but just my movement, my body, the way my body moves and all those things,” – he said. “That’s going to be big for me also because of how long I am. So I think I don’t know how many months I have, [but] I’m going to use it as efficiently as I can to come back as a better player and also work on my mind … and come back sharp.

The injury of Kristaps Porzingis was a major blow for the New York Knicks, who hoped that he could lead the team to playoffs even without Carmelo Anthony, who was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Porzingis was very close to making that happening, playing great basketball, and averaging 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and a league-high 2.4 blocks per game. Unfortunately, his injury left the Knicks stranded, and they opted to give their younger players more room to develop and abandoned their playoff hopes.

New York Knicks has announced that they have acquired guard Emmanuel Mudiay from the Denver Nuggets in a three-team deal involving Dallas Mavericks as well. In exchange for Mudiay, the Nuggets received Devin Harris from the Mavericks and a 2018 second-round pick from the Knicks, while the Mavericks acquired Doug McDermott from the Knicks and a second-round pick from Denver.

The New York Knicks general manager Scott Perry previously said that the team would love to get a young, athletic player and they have achieved just that with Mudiay. The former seventh overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft lost his starting place in the Nuggets line-up this season, but still has a significant upside and will work well with the young Knicks core. Also, he is likely to get more minutes, especially since the Knicks have said goodbye to the playoff hopes after their star player Kristaps Porziņģis suffered a season-ending injury.

With Devin Harris, Denver Nuggets received a solid backup for their starting point guard Jamal Murray. Mudiay was a burden for the team on the offensive end, being the league’s third worse shooter considering the minutes he played. Prior to this trade, the Nuggets offered Mudiay and one second-round pick to Memphis Grizzlies for Tyreke Evans.

Finally, with Doug McDermott, the Dallas Mavericks will get a backup for Harrison Barnes on the wing. McDermott is known as a 3-point specialist, which will surely come in handy to the Mavs and he could end up playing more minutes than he did in New York.
