The testing, challenging, and unpredictable 2019/20 NBA season has come to an end. It was Los Angeles Lakers who came out on top, capturing their record-tying 17th NBA title with a 106-93 win over Miami Heat in deciding Game 6 on Sunday night.

After narrowly missing the chance to clinch the championship in Game 5, the Lakers didn’t intend to leave it to a last-second shot this time around. They dominated the contest from the very beginning, and by the time the first half ended, they were sitting at a 28-point lead.

The lead didn’t change much by the fourth quarter, at which point the Heat tried to rally for another improbable comeback. However, the difference was too much to make up for and Lakers took care of business to get the franchise’s first championship in a decade.

“We have a Ph.D. in adversity, I can tell you that much,” said Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel. “We’ve been through a lot, but I’m so damn proud of this team. World champions!”

The Lakers are now tied with their bitter rivals Boston Celtics as the franchise with most titles in NBA history.

Lakers’ superstar LeBron James was the best player on the floor once again, pouring in 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists for his 11th triple double in the NBA Finals. James averaged 33.1 points per game throughout the series against Miami, resulting in the fourth NBA Finals MVP award of his career.

β€œThe first thing you start to think about is how much work you’ve put in over the course of the year,” said James after the game. β€œHow much you’ve sacrificed, how much you’ve dedicated to the game, and to your craft. That’s always been the most fulfilling thing for me, besides seeing my teammates as happy as they are. Being able to know that you can put the work in, literally trust the process, live about the process and then see the results.”

James had help in All-Star Anthony Davis, who added 19 points and 15 rebounds, while veteran Rajon Rondo scored 19 off the bench.

Bam Adebayo had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Miami, but rest of his teammates failed to raise up to the occasion. No other Heat player had more than 12 points.

Can you believe that there is only a month and a half left until the end of the NBA regular season? Teams are in full playoff push mode, looking to grab the best seed that they can for the long and grueling playoff slate that begins in April.

While sixteen teams will make the playoffs, in our opinion, there are two teams, one from each conference, that are clear NBA title contenders based on how they have played this season and the talent on their rosters.

Here are the two NBA championship contenders most likely to triumph in the playoffs.

Los Angeles Lakers: Western Conference

The Lakers are the best-positioned team to win the NBA title this year based on their lethal combination of talent, both from veterans such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis as well as young stars like Kyle Kuzma.

LeBron James, in his 17th NBA season, continues to be a dominant force. The three-time NBA champion is averaging 25.5 points per game and leading the league with 10.6 assists per game. He is a tremendous, multi-dimensional talent who puts the Lakers in a different stratosphere based on his production, talent, and experience.

Davis and James are the fiercest 1-2 combination in the league, and complimentary players such as Kuzma, Avery Bradley, and Danny Green should be enough to make them the title favorites come playoff time as long as they can stay healthy. They’re the most talented team in the NBA, and they have the playoff experience and mental fortitude to win a championship.

Milwaukee Bucks: Eastern Conference

The Bucks are the unquestioned top team in the NBA’s Eastern Conference this season. Why? The answer to this question revolves around one single player who is becoming the most transformative player in the league: Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Greek Freak is the leading candidate for the NBA MVP Award, averaging 29.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game with absurd efficiency. He is the clear star and leader of the team, and he works with a supporting cast that allows him to shine.

Don’t think the Bucks are only about Antetokounmpo, however. Under-the-radar veteran pieces such as Khris Middleton (21.1 points per game) and Eric Bledsoe (a strong PG defender and a good ball distributor) are enough to propel their team past a dependence on their superstar. This might just be the team that will lift the title in June.

An overwhelming number of NBA analysts, experts and journalists have are favoring Golden State Warriors to win the NBA title this season as well. But, if you ask the Hall of Famer and TNT’s Inside the NBA analysts Charles Barkley, Warriors will meet their match this time around.

According to Barkley, Milwaukee Bucks will be the team that will win it all in the 2019 NBA Finals.

“The Bucks are going to win the world championship.” – proclaimed Barkley after the Milwaukee rolled over the Boston Celtic in the Game 4 of Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and took a 3-1 lead.

While picking someone else than Warriors to win the NBA title definitely raises many eyebrows, Barkley’s prediction isn’t so farfetched. Milwaukee Bucks have played spectacularly in the regular season winning 60 games and having the best overall record in the NBA. They also had a strong start to their playoff run, sweeping the Detroit Pistons.

Many started questioning Bucks’ ability to compete for the title when they dropped Game 1 at home in the Celtics series, but they returned to win three straight games and look like they are in complete control now.

It also doesn’t hurt that Bucks’ biggest star Giannis Antetokounmpo carried over his MVP form to the postseason and is currently averaging 28.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

While it remains to be seen whether Milwaukee is ready to go all the way this season, they will definitely give Warriors a good run for their money if they can keep playing like this.
