The Detroit Pistons lost 126-115 to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, thereby recording their 26th consecutive loss. This feat equals the standing record for the longest losing streak in NBA history.

“None of us went through this, ever,” center Isaiah Stewart said, reflecting on his team’s 26th straight loss. “This is the hardest thing probably all of us went through, especially being in the pros.” Guard Cade Cunningham admitted the team’s pain, explaining “Everybody hates losing, so it’s hard”, adding that the team needs to make a plan of action in order to turn their fortunes around.

Despite another crushing defeat, Jaden Ivey emerged as the Pistons’ standout player, leading his team with 23 points as well as seven assists. Cade Cunningham followed closely behind with 22 points and six assists. The Pistons will have an opportunity to bring their losing streak to an end Tuesday night when they rematch the Brooklyn Nets at the Little Caesars Arena.

The Detroit Pistons may have recorded a tough 107-129 loss against the Sacramento Kings on Monday, but they can at least feel good about their future. The Pistons’ rookie guard Cade Cunningham had his best performance as a pro and even managed to make a bit of NBA history.

Cunningham, who was selected first overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, finished the night with a career-high 25 points. He added eight boards, eight assists, and two steals while shooting 10-of-20 from the game and making five out of his 11 three-point attempts.

Shortly after the game wrapped up, the Pistons announced on social media that Cunningham became the youngest player in NBA history to post a stat line of at least 25 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and five made threes. He did it while 20 years and 51 days old, beating out LA Lakers superstar LeBron James (20 years, 100 days), Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young (20 years, 163 days), and Dallas Mavericks phenom Luka Doncic (20 years, 248 days).

Cade Cunningham struggled a lot with injuries early in his rookie campaign and is having a slower start than many predicted. In eight games he played so far in 2021-22, Cunningham is averaging 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. His shooting numbers are more alarming, as he is only making 34.8 percent of his shots from the floor and connecting on just 27.6 percent of his shots from deep. However, this game was an optimistic change.

In yet another unprecedented performance, Russell Westbrook overwhelmed the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night with a performance for the history books.

Westbrook posted the second 20 point, 20 assist, 20 rebound game in the history of the NBA in a 119-103 home win over the Lakers.

The win pushes Oklahoma City to 45-33, pushing them into a tie with the San Antonio Spurs for 7th place in the Western Conference. Four games remain for the playoffs, and the Thunder could theoretically finish as high as 5th in the tight conference.

Without a doubt, the star of the show on Tuesday with Westbrook. The only other player in the history of the NBA to equal his 20-20-20 single-game output was legendary center Wilt Chamberlain, who accomplished the feat back in 1968.

Westbrook dedicated his game to rapper Nipsey Hussle, a fellow Los Angeles native that was killed in a drive-by shooting last Sunday.

Westbrook is now averaging a staggering 23.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 10.5 assists per game.

He and the Thunder will be back in action on Friday night at home against the Detroit Pistons.

While the starters on any sports team might get most of the glory, it pays to be a backup sometimes, too.

Lou Williams, the Los Angeles Clippers’ sixth man and one of the best bench players in the history of the league, set the all-time record for points scored off of the bench in the Clippers’ 140-115 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday night.

Williams, who is now in his 13th season in the NBA, had a masterful performance on Monday, scoring 34 points in the Clippers rout.

He passed point guard Dell Curry to set the mark for points off of the bench with a basket in the fourth quarter of the win on Monday.

Despite being 32 years old, Williams has been one of the Clippers´ most important players this season. Despite only averaging 26 minutes per game, he has scored more than 20 points per game on average and served as a veteran presence on a Clippers team that has exceeded expectations.

Williams has been named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year twice in his career, once with the Raptors in 2015, and again with the Clippers last season.

He appears to be the favorite to take home the award this year as well.

It´s certainly not bad for a former 45th overall pick and a bench player. Williams has proven that the brightest stars in sports sometimes aren’t even starters.

Russell Westbrook extended his NBA record with his 11th consecutive game with a triple-double on Thursday night in a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Despite losing 131-122 to the Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Westbrook recorded double-digit figures in points, assists, and rebounds for the eleventh consecutive time, becoming the first NBA player in history to record this feat.

Westbrook played 39 minutes in Thursday’s game and finished with 44 points, 11 assists, and 14 rebounds. Despite his magisterial performance, the Thunder lost to move to 37-20 on the season.

He now must wait until after the NBA All Star break to continue his run. The league will be on a break for All Star Weekend from Friday until next Thursday.

The Thunder will return to action next Friday, February 23rd, against the Utah Jazz at home.

Westbrook will start on the bench in Sunday’s All-Star Game in Charlotte, North Carolina for Team Giannis after he was selected 16th overall in the All Star Game draft.

The 30-year-old guard is averaging 21.7 points, 11.2 assists, and 11.2 rebounds in his 11th NBA season this year.

Russell Westbrook, one of the most dynamic and special players in basketball, made history on Monday night after recording a triple-double in his tenth consecutive game.

Westbrook notched 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in the Thunder’s 120-111 win against the Portland Trail Blazers. This was the first time any player in the history of the league had strung together double digit games recording double digits in three statistical categories.

The Thunder superstar equaled the old mark of 9 set by Wilt Chamberlain back in 1968 against the Rockets on Sunday. He wouldn’t be denied in his quest for ten straight.

Not only does Westbrook have a ten-game streak with a triple-double intact, he is also averaging a triple-double per game on the season.

Westbrook is averaging 21.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 11.2 assists per game. He is one of the team’s leaders that have propelled Oklahoma City to their current 37-19 record, good for 3rd place in the Western Conference.

Westbrook and Oscar Robertson are the only two players to average a triple-double during an entire NBA season. If Westbrook repeats his feat again this year, after doing so once in 2016-17, he’d be the only player to do it multiple times in a career.

Westbrook will look to make it 11 games in a row when the Thunder travel to New Orleans to face the Pelicans on Thursday.

The Golden State Warriors scored 51 points in Tuesday’s 142-111 blow out win over the Denver Nuggets to set a new NBA record. On top of that, they made 10 three-pointers in the first quarter, a franchise record for any quarter.

The Warriors started the game in the best way possible, compiling 19-for-25 from the field and 10-of-14 from beyond the arc to end the first quarter with 51 points. Kevin Durant was the most dominant player in that quarter with 17 points. Klay Thompson had 13 points while Steph Curry had 12 points.

The last time the Warriors scored that many points in a single quarter was in 1989 when they scored 57 in the third quarter against the Sacramento Kings.

“It’s beautiful, beautiful basketball,” Coach Steve Kerr said. “I don’t remember a better first quarter. That was a fireworks show.”

Curry hinted the Warriors were onto something—making a statement to playoff teams in the west.

“We’ve been paying attention,” he said. “We know who’s been playing well—and to be honest, we haven’t played as well against the playoff teams in the West. We wanna kinda correct that going into the last half of the season.”

Durant had a closely similar message saying, “I think they know who we are.”

Saturday’s final NBA match was thrilling, edgy, and full of three-pointers. The Golden State Warriors put on a show with 21 three pointers to defeat the Sacramento Kings 127-123. The Kings produced 20 three-pointers, making it 41 three-pointers in total—a new NBA record for most three-pointers in a single game.

Steph Curry, who hit 10 three pointers and a game high 42 points, called the game fun and “pretty crazy” with all the 3s.

“It’s a fun way to play, especially when you’re shooting a high percentage,” said Curry. “You can shoot as many 3s as you want to, but shooting a high percentage the way it was tonight on both ends was pretty crazy.”

Kevin Durant, Quinn Cook, and Klay Thomson combined for nine three pointers while Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green garnered two. Buddy Hield scored eight three-pointers for the Kings while Justin Jackson scored five. Bogdan Bogdanovic scored three while Nemanja Bjelica added two. The Kings had two more three-pointers from Ben McLemore and Yogi Ferrell.

Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr described the match as “an incredible offensive display” and but admitted his side gave away too many pointers through turnovers.

“Just an incredible offensive display by both teams,” Kerr said. “The problem for us was the turnovers (13). Every time we turned the ball over it was a 3 or a dunk. That’s what kept them in the game.”
