Egyptian star forward Mohamed Salah ended the speculation about his future on Friday by signing a new contract with Liverpool. Salah inked a three-year deal that will keep him in England until the summer of 2025.

Salah, who was set to become a free agent after this upcoming season, will reportedly be Liverpool’s highest-paid player with a £350K weekly salary.

“I feel great and [am] excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone,” said Salah after signing the deal. “It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done, so we just need to focus on what’s next.”

Liverpool entered the offseason with two of their biggest stars, Salah and Sadio Mane, having just one year left on their respective contracts. Mane decided to bolt for Bayern Munich earlier this month, and many believed the same would happen with Salah. Salah and Liverpool have been engaged in contract negotiations for a while but have yet to find some common ground.

“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career. But I can’t say much about that, it’s not in my hands,” Salah said in a recent chat with Sky Sports.
