The Atlanta Braves went into their Wednesday night match with the Miami Marlins looking to avoid a series sweep. They certainly did that and set a new National League process in the record.

The Braves annihilated their NL East rivals by a 29-9 final score at Truist Park, setting a National League record for runs scored by a team in one game.

Things didn’t look great for the Braves early, as they went down 2-0 in the first inning after starter Tommy Milone gave up a pair of runs.

They exploded, however, in the second inning with an 11-spot on the scoreboard. The Braves got home runs from Travis d’Arnaud, Adam Duvall, and Ozzie Albies in an outburst that put the game out of reach.

They kept scoring, however, as Freddie Freeman added a two-run homer the next inning and Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a three-run bomb in the fifth.

Adam Duvall had a record-setting night, as he joined Acuna with a three-run homer in the fifth and then hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to push the lead to 29-9.

Duvall finished the night with three home runs and 9 RBI, tying a Braves record for the most runs batted in in a single game.

Atlanta moved to 25-18 on the season with their win, and they now hold a 2-game lead over the Phillies in the NL East.

Angels outfielder Mike Trout is already one of the greatest players in baseball history at the age of 29, and he added yet another accomplishment to his long list of them after a third-inning home run against the Astros on Saturday evening.

Trout hit an opposite-field drive, clearing the right-center field fence at Angel Stadium to add home run number 300 to his career list. He became the eleventh-youngest player in MLB history to reach that mark.

Not only that, but Trout also broke Tim Salmon’s franchise record for career home runs as an Angel. He had previously tied the mark with a home run on Friday night.

Trout, who is tied with Fernando Tatis for the league lead with 15 home runs this season, is having yet another excellent season as he looks to claim another MVP Award, which would be the third of his young career.

The slugger is hitting .290 with 38 RBI, one of the few bright spots on an Angels team that has failed to live up to expectations this season. His team is only 16-25 this season and finds itself out of the playoff picture with little time to go.

What’s for sure is that Trout, who will now look to continue climbing the all-time home run leader board, will continue to be one of the league’s top stars for years to come.

Mets veteran second baseman has played for 15 seasons in the MLB, recording 320 home runs in 2,153 career games.

Before Tuesday, however, he has never gone deep three times in one game. That changed after a memorable performance in a 5-2 Mets win over the San Diego Padres.

Canó, who has been slumping in the midst of his worst career season, broke out for three home runs in front of the Citi Field crowd to lead the Mets to victory.

Canó had been batting .246 with only 6 home runs in a slow start to his tenure with the Mets. The veteran second baseman has dealt with questions as to whether or not his days as a productive MLB player have come and gone. With his performance on Tuesday, those doubts were laid to rest, at least for one night.

Canó’s first bomb of the night was a fourth in inning solo shot off of Padres starter Chris Paddack to open the scoring. Next, the Dominican second baseman tagged Paddack again for a two-run homer in the sixth inning to extend New York’s lead to 3-0.

His final long ball of the night came off of reliever Logan Allen in the 7th, another two-run shot. He finished the night 4-4 with 5 RBI.

2019 has been a year to forget for the fourth-place Mets and their highly-paid second baseman, but July 23rd is a day that they’ll want to remember forever.
