The Pittsburgh Steelers have made the first major move in their attempts to find a new starter under center after the retirement of their longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. According to multiple reports, the Steelers have signed free-agent QB Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year deal on Monday.

Trubisky’s contract is reportedly worth $14.25 million, but the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft could earn up to $27 million based on incentives.

The Steelers have yet to make the signing official, although the player himself confirmed the deal in a chat with ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“This was the best opportunity for me and my family … the best way to get back on the field and try to win games … You’ve got to go out and earn it,” said Trubisky, who will compete with 2018’s third-round QB Mason Rudolph for the starting job in Pittsburgh.

Mitchell Trubisky was supposed to be the Chicago Bears’ QB of the future and certainly played the part at one point with a Pro Bowl appearance in 2018. However, things went south after that for both the Bears and Trubinsky, prompting the franchise to let the North Carolina walk in free agency last offseason.

Trubisky opted not to pursue a starting job elsewhere and instead signed on to back Josh Allen in Buffalo. This turned out to be a good move as one year in Buffalo raised the 27-year-old’s stocks despite his limited time on the field. Several teams were reportedly interested in his services in recent weeks, including the Giants, but he ended up seeing the Steelers as his fastest track to a starting job.

Since entering the NFL, Trubisky has made 50 starts and is 29-21 as a starter in the league. His stats include 64.1 pass completion, 10,652 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and 38 interceptions.

After adding former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles in March, Chicago Bears now have one of the most intriguing quarterback situations. Still, it appears that last year’s starter Mitchell Trubisky won’t let Foles’ arrival shake his confidence as he believes that the Bears is still his team.

Trubisky staged a disappointing season in 2019, failing to propel the talented Bears’ team to the playoffs. This prompted the Bears to put some pressure on him by signing a veteran competition in Foles. And it appears that this is doing the trick.

In his first interview in almost six months, Trubinsky told reporters that Foles’ arrival provided him with motivation.

“I think I was kind of pissed off in a good way. I’ve been motivated ever since,” said Trubinsky. “I think it’s going to be a good competition. Foles has had a crazy career as well so it’s been cool having him in our room talking ball. I know we’re going to push each other.”

Despite the organization’s lack of faith in him, Trubinsky still feels like he’s the main guy in Chicago.

“But I still feel like this is my team and I’m excited for the competition and just get back on the field with my guys and show everybody what I can still do and how hard I’ve been working this offseason to help the Bears win games this year,” he added.

Mitchell Trubisky, who was the second overall pick in 2017, completed 63.2 percent of his passes last season, throwing for 3,138 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Bears finished the year with an 8-8 record, not enough to make it out of NFC North.

Nick Foles was limited to only four games with Jacksonville Jaguars last season due to a shoulder injury. In four starts, he threw for 736 yards and three touchdowns.

The Chicago Bears have decided to decline their fifth-year option for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky for the 2021 season, meaning that their former first round draft pick is set to become a free agent after the upcoming season.

Trubisky was drafted with the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of the University of North Carolina, a decision that surprised many in the wake of a solid college career that wasn’t spectacular. The Bears, however, loved Trubisky’s physical tools and thought that he would become a productive pro.

The 25-year-old has seen mixed results during his first three seasons in the Windy City, starting 41 games and passing for 48 touchdowns and 29 interceptions.

After a 2018 season which saw Trubisky break out, throwing for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, he regressed in 2019. The signal caller’s passer rating fell precipitously from 95.4 to 83.0 and he had trouble finding a rhythm with his pass catchers.

Chicago added veteran quarterback Nick Foles in a trade on March 31st, a move that brought in a player who is expected to push Trubisky for the starting job.

No matter what happens in 2020, however, it seems as if the Bears plan to move on from their once-prized prospect and go in a different direction at the position.

The Chicago Bears beat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night to extend their surprising start to 3-1. Unfortunately for them, however, they weren’t able to escape the game without losing a key player to injury.

Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was forced out of the game during the game’s first drive in the first quarter. While attempting to avoid pressure, he was brought down and sacked by Minnesota defensive end Danielle Hunter and landed awkwardly on his left shoulder.

Trubisky left the game immediately and was replaced by Chase Daniels, who threw for 195 yards and a touchdown in Chicago’s 16-6 home win.

The team still hasn’t released any information about how long they expect Trubisky to be out nor what exactly his injury is, but this appears to be a problem that will hold him out for at least one game.

Team sources have stated that Trubisky is expected to miss Chicago’s weekend tilt with the Oakland Raiders in London, and it’s unknown when he’ll be able to return afterwards.

The third-year signal caller has been up and down for Chicago this year, completing 67 of 103 passes for 579 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

The Bears are expected to provide more information about their quarterback’s status as the week progresses.

Chicago Bears will look to extend their winning streak to five games against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, but that might be easier said than done. Bears’ starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is battling a shoulder injury, and according to NFL Insider Ian Rapaport, the 24-year-old won’t recover in time. This means that the team will most likely start his backup Chase Daniel for the Lions’ game.

The Bears have officially listed Trubisky, who has an AC sprain, as doubtful for Thursday’s game, and he didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice. Since the team doesn’t expect him to be able to play, they have promoted Tyler Bray from the practice squad to the active roster.

Mitchell Trubisky has been great for Chicago Bears this season contributing with 2,832 yards of total offense and 23 touchdowns.

The game on Thursday will be the first NFL start for Chase Daniel since the 2014 season, and only his third during the nine years he spent in the league. The thing that worries Bears, however, is that he didn’t try a regular-season pass since 2016 season.

Daniel played a total 60 games in the league and managed to complete 51 out of 78 passes for 480 yards and a touchdown.
