Jason Kidd’s time as the coach of Milwaukee Bucks has come to an end. The team announced on Monday that they have fired the coach who led them to two playoff appearances in the last three years. The Bucks currently sit on the 7^th spot in Eastern Conference with 23-22 record, which was labeled as underachieving by the organization. Assistant Joe Prunty will take over as interim coach while general manager Jon Horst looks for the man to lead the Buck in the future.

“We appreciate everything that Jason has done for the Bucks organization, but we have decided to make a coaching change,” – said Horst in a statement. “We believe that a fresh approach and a change in leadership are needed to continue elevating our talented team towards the next level, bringing us closer to our goal of competing for championships.“

Kidd revealed that he received a call from Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo before he was officially fired. Antetokounmpo asked Kidd is there anything he could do in order to help him keep his job. About 15 minutes later, GM Horst and team president Peter Feigin revealed their decision to Kidd.

“I enjoyed my time in Milwaukee.” – said Kidd. “There’s no regrets. We took an organization that was in a bad place and shined a light on it. They’re still young in running their race. Giannis is young in running his new race, as one of the best players in the world.“

Milwaukee Bucks have a talented roster which includes Antetokounmpo, rookie of the year Malcolm Brogdon and the newest addition to the team, Eric Bledsoe. After a good start of the season, the Bucks have plummeted, losing four of their last five games before the Monday’s win against the Phoenix in which they were led by Prunty.

Jason Kidd, former NBA champion and Basketball Hall of Fame nominee, had a 139-152 record during his time as Bucks’ coach.
