One of the top free agents on the Major League Baseball market this offseason didn’t wait long to sign a contract, inking a four-year deal with the Cincinnati Reds.

Former Royals and Brewers infielder Mike Moustakas inked a four-year, $64 million dollar deal with Cincinnati on Monday according to various sources.

The club has yet to officially announce the deal, but all indications are that the new player will be presented this week.

Moustakas is a three-time All-Star who impressed in a strong season at the age of 31 with the Brewers in 2019. The veteran infielder manned third base for the NL Central runners-up, hitting .254 with 35 home runs and 87 RBI on the season.

The California native has had a productive MLB career, owning a career .252 average with 182 home runs in 1131 games dating back to 2011. He is also known for his solid work with the glove.

As the Reds already have a third baseman in superstar Eugenio Suarez, the playing the position which Moustakas has occupied for the vast majority of his career, the new signing will be expected to move over to play second base for Cincinnati, at least in the short term.

Moustakas will look to help lead a Reds franchise back to the playoffs that hasn’t qualified for the postseason since 2013.

One of the top remaining free agents remaining on the MLB market reached a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Mike Moustakas, who spent the second half of the season with Milwaukee after being traded to the Brewers from the Kansas City Royals, agreed to a one-year, $10 million dollar deal with the reigning NL Central champions.

Moustakas hit .251 with a total of 28 home runs and 95 RBIs in 152 games last season. He is regarded as one of the best third baseman in baseball.

The 30-year-old left-handed hitter, despite not putting up the strongest numbers with Milwaukee, convinced the Brewers´front office that he should return to man the hot corner for the Brewers due to his solid defense, offensive production, and his positive presence in the clubhouse.

The 2019 season will be the California native´s 9th in his MLB career. In addition to his above-average defense, the lefty third baseman has a capable power stroke, as he has totaled 66 home runs in his last two seasons.

Moustakas and the Brewers will look to repeat as NL Central champs this season.
