San Francisco 49ers’ offense has taken a real hit in this past couple of days. After seeing Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk being ruled out for six weeks due to an MCL sprain just a few days ago, 49ers now found out that second-year right tackle Mike McGlinchey is facing a similar break as well.

McGlinchey suffered a knee injury in Monday’s win over the Cleveland Browns and has to undergo an arthroscopic procedure to repair the damage. It is estimated that he will be out four to six weeks while rehabbing.

According to San Francisco’s head coach Kyle Shanahan, McGlinchey played through the injury against Browns, not wanting to report the issue. Shanahan ended up taking him out himself late in the fourth quarter.

“He didn’t feel like he was that much after the game, but the energy goes down a little bit, how amped up you are, he came in the next morning it was hurt a little bit more and when they checked it out it was a surprise to him and a surprise to all of us.” – said Shanahan.

Mike McGlinchey was 49ers’ ninth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He started all 16 games in his rookie season.

With McGlinchey, Daniel Brunskill is expected to start at right tackle for 49ers going forward. Brunskill previously spent time on Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad, while also playing in AAF for San Diego Fleet.
