New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino does not want to keep Joao Felix at Chelsea on a permanent deal, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo stated. Felix joined the Blues in January on a six-month loan from Atletico.

Although Felix impressed during his Chelsea tenure, scoring four Premier League goals in 16 appearances, Cerezo remains convinced that the 23-year-old player will return to Atletico at the end of his loan. Shortly prior to his loan deal, Felix signed a new contract with Atletico valid until 2027.

“The news that we received yesterday is that the new manager doesn’t count on him at Chelsea,” Cerezo told reporters. We don’t have anything planned, Joao is an Atletico player for now.”

When previously asked about his future, Felix hinted that his decision to remain at Chelsea would depend on the club’s ability to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Having finished the league season in 12th place, the Blues will not be involved in any European football next season.

Pochettino was revealed as Chelsea’s new manager on Monday after penning a two-year deal with the team. He will be tasked with helping the Blues improve after they endured their worst Premier League campaign to date.

Premier League club Chelsea confirmed on Monday that Mauricio Pochettino has been appointed as the team’s new manager. The Argentinian has signed a two-year deal with the Blues and is set to begin his role on July 1, before the team embarks on its preseason tour of the United States. The contract includes the option for another year.

Following the dismissal of Graham Potter as Chelsea’s head coach on April 3, the club began building a list of potential successors, with Pochettino soon becoming the team’s first-choice replacement.

Co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stuart, who led the search for a new manager, released the following statement: “Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities, and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward.”

Before arriving at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino served as the head coach of PSG, leading the club to a French Cup and a Ligue 1 title during his 18-month tenure in Paris. 51-year-old Pochettino also served as the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur for five years, leading them to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.

The Premier League side Chelsea reportedly settled on Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new manager. According to multiple reports, Pochettino accepted Chelsea’s offer and will take over after the 2022-23 season ends.

Chelsea still hasn’t made the hiring official. The club will wait until Pochettino arrives in London at some point this week to announce the news. The Argentinean is expected to sign a deal until 2026.

Pochettino was out of a job since being fired by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2021-22 campaign. He previously also coached Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Premier League side Southampton, and La Liga club Espanyol.

Chelsea started the 2022-23 season with Thomas Tuchel at the helm but replaced the UEFA Champions League-winning manager just two months into the campaign. The club plucked Graham Potter away from Brighton to replace Tuchel, seeing him as a perfect candidate for their long-term project. However, the plan didn’t exactly work out for the Blues.

Potter lasted only seven months on the job, having lost 11 out of his 31 games in charge. Chelsea ended up replacing him with club legend Frank Lampard on an interim basis as they looked for a new manager.

The London club took a different approach this time, casting a wide net and interviewing a number of well-respected candidates. While their shortlist included the likes of Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, Chelsea’s brass ended up deciding that Pochettino was the man who would bring the glory back to Stamford Bridge. We’ll have to wait until the next season starts in order to find out whether this is the case.

Mauricio Pochettino is in advanced talks with Chelsea over the club’s vacant managerial role, a source familiar with the situation divulged to ESPN on Tuesday. Chelsea is expected to replace interim boss Frank Lampard with a permanent manager at the end of the season.

Pochettino, who has previously managed fellow Premier League clubs Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, last worked as the manager of Paris Saint-Germain prior to being dismissed from the role at the end of last season.

Chelsea’s plan is believed to allow Lampard to continue managing the team until the conclusion of the current season, thereby giving the new manager time to build the Blues’ squad during the summer. According to sources, Pochettino is confident that the job at Chelsea will suit him, particularly since it will give him the opportunity to build a young squad of players that can adapt to his style of football.

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann was previously regarded as a favorite for the position alongside Pochettino, he dropped out of the running, thereby leaving Pochettino as a clear frontrunner for the role. While former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique was considered, his appointment was not considered beyond exploratory discussions.

Despite investing significant funds into their squad this summer, OGC Nice is struggling in the Ligue 1 so far in 2022-23. As a result, the team is expected to move on from head coach Lucien Favre and is reportedly targeting former PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino as his replacement.

According to reports, Nice brass is set to meet Pochettino soon and try to sell him on the project. The club is ready to meet his financial demands, but it is unclear whether that will be enough. Pochettino is believed to be waiting for a call from a bigger club and is reluctant to work in France again.

Pochettino won the domestic title and French Cup with Paris Saint-Germain last season, though his failure to deliver the UEFA Champions League ended up costing him the job. The 50-year-old was linked with Manchester United earlier this summer, but the Premier League side opted to hire Erik Ten Hag instead.

Nice hired Lucien Favre in June to replace Christophe Galtier, who joined PSG as Pochettino’s replacement. Favre was considered a foolproof hire considering he already coached the club between 2016 and 2018 and led them to the UEFA Champions League spot. However, things are far from successful in his second stint.

Under Favre, Nice opened the new Ligue 1 campaign with only two wins from eight matches and are currently sitting at no. 13 on the standings. They are also performing below expectations in Europa Conference League, where they have two draws in a favorable group.

Mauricio Pochettino’s era at Paris Saint-Germain is officially over. The Ligue 1 champions confirmed Pochettino’s departure on Tuesday while announcing Christophe Galtier as their new manager.

Galtier, who coached Nice to fifth place in the domestic league last season, will join on a two-year deal.

“I appreciate the responsibility that I have so that PSG can have a great season,” said Galtier at his introductory press conference. “I have been getting ready for it. If I have accepted his job, it is because I am capable of it. But we have to do it all together.”

The news is far from a surprise as this move has been expected for some time now. Despite winning Ligue 1 in 2021-22, Pochettino failed to make the noise in UEFA Champions League and missed out on the domestic cup. This was deemed a failure in the eyes of PSG owners, and they felt the change was needed if they wanted to capture the elusive UCL trophy.

Hiring Christophe Galtier is certainly an unconventional replacement, considering there were more reputable managers available. However, the Frenchman isn’t without his qualities. After all, he won the Ligue 1 with Lille in 2020-21, which was the only time in the past five seasons that a club besides PSG did it.

Galtier is an ex-defender who played professionally with Marseille, Lille, and Toulouse, among other clubs. He had his longest managerial stint with Saint-Étienne, where he spent eight seasons between 2009 and 2017. During that time, he led the club to seven consecutive top 10 finishes in the domestic league.

Winning the Ligue 1 title with 15 points advantage didn’t help Mauricio Pochettino to keep his job as Paris Saint-Germain manager. According to multiple reports, the French club has decided to fire Pochettino and enter the 2022-23 season with a new face on the bench.

PSG has been rumored to go in this direction in the past several weeks, but the final decision was only made on Wednesday morning, according to Julien Laurens of ESPN. However, the Ligue 1 side still hasn’t decided on Pochettino’s successor and has several names on the list.

The hiring process is expected to be led by new sporting director Luis Campos. Sources close to the club say Campos’ favorite is Christophe Galtier, who did a great job with Lille and Nice in recent years. However, the club’s brass is still hoping Zinedine Zidane changes his mind and considers taking the job.

Mauricio Pochettino, who played in Paris in the early 2000s, took over as Paris Saint-Germain boss from Thomas Tuchel midway through the 2020-21 season. Under Pochettino, PSG won Coupe de France but failed to make up the lost ground in the domestic league title race.

Things looked a lot better in Ligue 1 this past season, as PSG comfortably regained the title with just four losses throughout the campaign. However, they once again failed to make a mark in the UEFA Champions League, where they were eliminated by Real Madrid in the Round of 16 despite having a lead after the first leg. The UCL failure was the thing that most likely sealed Pochettino’s fate.

Paris Saint-Germain isn’t dominating Ligue 1 this season, and manager Thomas Tuchel will be the one to pay the price. According to ESPN, PSG informed Tuchel that his services are no longer needed on Thursday.

However, the managerial vacancy on the French team won’t be open for too long with the club reportedly already agreeing to terms with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino. The two sides have been reportedly negotiating for the past two weeks.

Tuchel was on the hot seat last season but was granted more time after PSG’s good performances in Europe that saw them reach UEFA Champions League Finals for the first time in club history. However, the club’s struggles in 2020-21 prompted the Paris front office to make a change.

PSG is currently third in the domestic competition, having uncharacteristically lost four games early in the season. They managed to make it to the UCL knockout stage but needed a late surge and help from other clubs to do so.

According to reports, Tuchel also has a bad relationship with sporting director Leonardo, which speeded up the process of his firing.

PSG now hopes that Mauricio Pochettino can take the club to the next level and get them the elusive Champions League trophy the club so desperately wants. It may help that Pochettino has a history with the club, having played there between 2001 and 2003.

Pochettino was unemployed since November 2019, having been fired by Tottenham after a series of bad results in the Premier League. He spent five and a half years with the Spurs, leading the club to a UEFA Champions League Finals in 2018-19.

Before Barcelona settled on Ronald Koeman as their new head coach, numerous reports indicated that the Catalan giant offered the job to former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino first. But, according to Pochettino, there is no truth in these rumors.

In a recent interview with Marca, Pochettino discussed the links with Barcelona and said that he never even met with the club.

“They didn’t offer me to coach Barca,” said . “I didn’t see myself with [president Josep Maria] Bartomeu.”

The original reports said that Pochettino strongly considered taking over, but ended up backing out as he believed the club is surrounded by too many controversies and drama. Also, he wasn’t sure about the reception he would receive from the club’s fans, considering that he coached their cross-town rivals Espanyol in the past.

Barca ultimately decided to hire Koeman, while Pochettino is still looking for the right offer after turning down Benfica and Monaco.

“I did have a call from Benfica and Monaco. I have no need to lie,” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Pochettino also discussed the offer from Real Madrid he received in 2018. He turned Los Blancos at the time to stay with Tottenham, but admits that this remains his “dream” job.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever coach Madrid, but of course, it’s my dream,” said Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur’s highly-rated manager Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily linked with several jobs recently, including being Massimiliano Allegri’s successor at the helm of Seria A giants Juventus.

Still, we will have to wait until Tottenham plays the UEFA Champions League final match against Liverpool to learn if Pochettino considers a change of scenery.

During a press conference on Monday, Pochettino told reporters that he doesn’t want to discuss his future until after the clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

“Today, no one is more important than the game ahead,” – said Pochettino. “We can make history, we can provide our fans and our people the best happiness in football that you can provide and I think today to talk about individual things would be embarrassing and a shame.”

The 47-year-old Argentinian added that his team is more important than him at this moment.

“I am not important. I am not more important than the Champions League and the possibility to win a trophy,” – he explained. “Of course rumor is rumor and of course you are going to ask me about me, but today the focus is 200 percent on the final. After the final, we will have time to talk but today my commitment is about Tottenham.”

Mauricio Pochettino was targeted by several big European clubs in the past, but each time, he chose to stay in London and try to make a good result with Tottenham. Still, he indicated earlier this year that he is second-guessing his decision, and will consider remaining with the Hotspurs if he is given funds to build a contender and challenge Manchester City for supremacy in Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino joined Tottenham in 2014 and managed to lead the team to four consecutive Top-4 finishes in Premier League since then. His biggest achievement in the national competition is being runner-up in 2016/17.
