The Green Bay Packers intend to keep head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst with the franchise for years to come. According to multiple reports, the Packers recently locked LaFleur and Gutekunst to contract extensions. In addition, executive vice president Russ Ball reportedly also received a new deal.

Despite the deals being done and signed, the Packers don’t have any intention of making them official. When asked about the report, Green Bay’s president and chief executive officer Mark Murphy declined to confirm. He did, however, say that he hopes the trio “will continue to be Packers’ employees for years to come.”

Despite significant skepticism about his hiring, Matt LaFleur proved to be a slam dunk for the Green Bay Packers. Since taking over from Mike McCarthy ahead of the 2019 season, LaFleur has led the team to three NFC North titles and two NFC Championship Games. During his tenure, the Packers have also posted the best regular-season percentage in the league.

Brian Gutekunst initially landed with the Packers as a scout in 1998. After holding the position until 2011, he made his way through the organization’s ranks before longtime Green Bay GM Ted Thompson selected him as his successor in 2018. Since then, Gutekunst constructed one of the best rosters in the league and is keeping the Packers a Super Bowl contender year in and year out.

Green Bay Packers have reportedly found their new head coach. According to ESPN, Packers have decided to hire Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur as the successor of Mike McCarthy, who was fired back in December.

Green Bay hope that LaFleur, who previously worked under Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, will get the best out of their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and bring offensive innovation to the team. Besides the fact that the 39-year-old learned under McVay and Shanahan, who are considered among the best offensive minds in the game, Packs’ also liked the fact that he got the best out of Atlanta Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan during his 2016 NFL MVP campaign as well as helping LA Rams’ Jared Goff turn into a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback.

Matt LaFleur started his coaching career in college football before being named Houston Texans’ offensive quality control coach in 2008. Between 2010 and 2013 he served as a quarterbacks coach with the Washington Redskins while spending the 2014 at the same position with the Notre Dame. After being the Falcons’ QB coach in 2015 and 2016, LaFleur spent one year as Los Angeles Rams’ offensive coordinator before taking the same position with the Tennessee Titans in 2018.

Besides Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers interviewed nine more candidates for the head coaching position: their interim head coach Joe Philbin, former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, former Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, New England Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and linebackers coach/defensive play-caller Brian Flores, New Orleans Saints OC Pete Carmichael Jr.and assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell, Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC Todd Monken and former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.
