After receiving offers from both the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs in free agency, it appears that Marcus Morris has chosen his next NBA destination.

Despite receiving a two-year, $20 million offer from the San Antonio Spurs earlier this offseason, Marcus Morris has decided to accept a one-year, $15 million offer from the New York Knicks.

The move is saddled with a bit of controversy. Reports say that Morris had agreed to a two-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs earlier in the offseason, but then spurned his verbal agreement after the Knicks offered him a higher per-year salary average.

The 14th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the 6’9″ forward has spent time as a part-time starter for the Rockets, Suns, Pistons, and Celtics in a productive nine-year career.

Morris, who spent the past two seasons with the Boston Celtics, averaged a solid 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in 75 games in the 2018-19 season. While the Knicks are clearly in a rebuilding phase, Morris’s experience and veteran know-how attracted them to his services.

The Kansas alum is expected to share time at the power forward position with Julius Randle and Taj Gibson.
