In the midst of a heated two-legged race for the EPL’s title, Man City gained a momentary advantage over Liverpool with a 2-0 home win over Cardiff City on Wednesday night.

The win moves City, which has accumulated 80 points in 32 matches this season, one point ahead of Liverpool with 6 matches to play in the season.

The 2-0 final score isn’t indicative of just how dominant Manchester City was in dismantling Cardiff City. The EPL giants had absolutely no problem controlling the match over the relegation-bound Bluebirds.

Man City took an early lead in the 8th minute of the match when superstar midfielder Kevin De Bruyne found goal with a near post, left-footed strike after an Aymeric LaPorte pass.

Things didn’t get better for Cardiff City when Leroy Sané doubled City’s advantage just before halftime with another goal.

City didn’t score during the second half, but they continued their dominance and control of the game. They managed 27 shots on goal on Wednesday in comparison to a paltry 4 for the Bluebirds.

The win gives Manchester City a slight advantage over Liverpool in the chase for the title, but anything could happen in the last six matchdays of the year.

Man City will be back in action in the FA Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Chelsea scored in each half on Saturday to beat Manchester City 2-0 and help Liverpool get some breathing space at the top of the EPL table.

N’Golo Kante scored the first goal in the 45^th minute with an assist by Eden Hazard to gift the hosts a crucial goal before halftime. City had the chance to score an early goal in the ninth minute but Raheem Sterling wasted the chance. The Citizens had one more chance through Leroy Sane but he hit it directly at Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Chelsea goalkeeper who replaced Thibaut Courtois this offseason.

In the second half, City continued their possessive game, made occasional shots but their hopes for an equalizer were thwarted in the 78^th minute when defender David Luiz made it two for the Blues with a fantastic header.

Just one minute earlier, City had Kyle Walker’s free-kick saved by Kepa and Luiz goal completely demoralized them. With the win, Chelsea are third in the league, one spot behind Chelsea and two behind Liverpool who won their game against Bournemouth 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick by Salah.

Saturday was also a beautiful day for Manchester United who scored four past Fulham to renew their hopes for a top four spot this season. Another win came at the Emirates Stadium after a late goal by Lucas Torreira gave the hosts a 1-0 win against Huddersfield.
