Tottenham Hotspurs needed a draw at Camp Nou to advance to the Champions League knock out stages on Tuesday while Liverpool had to win to get the spot. At the end of the night, both premier league clubs achieved what looked like unlikely achievements.

Lucas Moura’s 85th-minute equalizer booked a round-of-16 spot for Spurs in a night Barcelona had rested key players like Luis Suarez, Ter Stegen and Gerald Pique. Lionel Messi also started on the bench but played in the second half.

Ousmane Dembele opened the score sheet for Barcelona early in the game and then concentrated on their defense. Spurs, on the other hand, made a series of attacks but failed to score in 16 shots at the goal. Moura entered the game as a substitute, fired in a header but was ruled off as offside. With 5 minutes left, he shot another, this time scoring.

Liverpool came into Tuesday’s game needing a clear 1-0 goal or with a margin of two goals or more. At the end of the night, Mohammed Salah was the difference as his shot went past goalkeeper David Ospina to seal the deal in the 34th minute.

The Reds had chances to extend the margin but Ospina either saved or the players wasted clear chances. Toward the end of the game, Napoli almost equalized but keeper Alisson came to the team’s rescue.
