After taking the Los Angeles Dodgers to its second consecutive World Series appearance, the team’s manager Dave Roberts earned himself a four-year extension which will keep him with the team through 2022. Although the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, it is believed that Roberts, who earned $1 million in 2018, also received a healthy pay rise.

The news was confirmed by the Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman in a statement released on Monday.

“Keeping Doc as our leader on the field was a top priority this offseason and now that we’ve accomplished that we are excited to collectively shift all of our focus to doing all we can to bring a World Championship to our passionate fans,” – said Friedman.

The Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 to extend their lead to 2-0 in the ongoing World Series on Thursday night.

The Dodgers appeared to be in control of the game up until J.D. Martinez snatched a comeback with two outs in the fifth inning. David Price added another outing while the bullpen helped secure the final point in Thursday’s Game 2 matchup.

“We knew we were going to have a good team, good lineup, good chemistry, and good energy—but not that good,” Boston’s Eduardo Nunez said. “We can beat you with homers; defense, pitching, base hits, stolen bases. I think we have it all.”

Nunez isn’t wrong. After they won 108 games in the regular season, Boston has won nine of 11 games in the playoffs. The third game of the World Series will be played in LA but the Red Sox team couldn’t be more confident.

The Dodgers fell to the Houston Astros at a time like this year. If they lose to Boston in LA, they will become the first team to lose consecutive World Series games since the Giants in 1936 and 1937, both times to the Yankees.

Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they have acquired pitcher Dylan Floro alongside minor league prospect Zach Neal from Cincinnati Reds. In exchange, the Reds received minor league pitchers James Marinan and Anerurys Zabala alongside international signing bonus pool space.

Dylan Floro appeared in 25 games as a relief pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds in this season and has a 3-2 record with 2.72 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Floro, who previously also played for the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs, has an MLB career record of 3–3 with 3.79 ERA.

In other roster moves, Cincinnati Reds have optioned utility man Brandon Dixon to Triple-A Louisville and recalled Tanner Rainey and Cody Reed. Dixon has a batting average of .238 and one home run in his MLB career.

Dodgers’ general manager Farhan Zaidi made an appearance on ESPNLA’s Mornings with Keyshawn, Jorge & LZ Show on Thursday and said that front office has “all the confidence” in Roberts.

“We, again, have all the confidence in him in the world,” – said Zaidi. “We said that during spring training when people asked about it. [We] haven’t seen anything in this first quarter of the season that has done anything to our confidence level with him.“

Los Angeles Dodgers are currently sitting in the last place in the National League West, and their current record is earliest they have been 10 games under .500 since 1929 season according to ESPN. This is also the first time since 2013 that they have been 10 games under .500 at either point of the season. According to Dave Roberts himself, the team currently finds itself in a slump but hopes that things will turn around for Dodgers.

“It’s a team-wide slump essentially,” – said Roberts. “I can’t recall anything like this, where we just haven’t had any semblance of consistency from any facet.“

“So for me, the coaches, try to encourage these guys to stay the course whether it’s out of the ‘pen, starters or timely hitting,” – he added. “There’s still a lot of good things as far as the way the guys are playing. Hopefully results will turn.“
