Lewis Hamilton agreed to a new deal with Mercedes that will keep him with the team through the 2025 F1 season. Mercedes confirmed the agreement on Thursday while also announcing that Hamilton’s teammate George Russell also signed a new two-year deal.

Hamilton was previously in the final year of his contract with Mercedes and his future with the team seemed unclear. The 38-year-old reportedly attracted interest from Ferrari while also considering retirement.

“We have never been hungrier to win. We have learned from every success but also every setback,” said Hamilton after the news was made official. “We continue to chase our dreams, we continue to fight no matter the challenge, and we will win again. I’m grateful to the team who have supported me both on and off the track. Our story isn’t finished; we are determined to achieve more together, and we won’t stop until we do.”

Lewis Hamilton has struggled in recent seasons following a dominant run that saw him win six F1 championships between 2014 and 2020. After finishing second to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in controversial fashion in 2021, Hamilton had a disastrous season in 2022 that saw him fail to get a single win for the first time in his career.

Hamilton slightly improved this season, making the podium four times and having one pole position. He is currently ranked fourth on the F1 Drivers standings.

The new Formula 1 season didn’t start well for the seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton. Despite expectations that he’ll get back in contention after a disappointing 2022 campaign, Hamilton finished fifth at Bahrain GP, trailing the winner Max Verstappen by more than 50 seconds.

However, it turns out that the outcome was somewhat expected by Hamilton as he didn’t have high hopes for the performance of his Mercedes car in 2023. Speaking on Chequered Flag podcast earlier this week, the 38-year-old said that he tried to give the team advice on how to improve the car, but Mercedes “didn’t listen.”

“I’ve driven so many cars in my life. I know what a car needs. I know what a car doesn’t need,” said Hamilton.

“It’s about owning up and saying, ‘Yeah, you know what? We didn’t listen to you. It’s not where it needs to be, and we’ve got to work,’” he continued.

Hamilton added that despite the issues, he believes Mercedes will turn things around and “get it right moving forwards.”

The 2022 F1 season was tough for Lewis Hamilton as Mercedes failed to provide him with a car that would challenge Red Bull. Hamilton ended up finishing 6th in the standings, his lowest since making his F1 debut, while Mercedes ended its streak of eight consecutive constructor titles.

Twenty-three-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams and seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton could soon own a piece of Premier League powerhouse Chelsea. According to ESPN, Williams and Hamilton joined a group of investors led by British businessman Martin Broughton.

The two world-class athletes have been in discussions to back Broughton’s bid for several weeks now. Reportedly, both Williams and Hamilton agreed to contribute £10 million each.

Broughton’s bid, one of three shortlisted by U.S. bank Raine Group, already has numerous high-profile investors. Broughton himself was once a chairman for another Premier League club Liverpool. In addition, he is backed by the Philadelphia 76ers’ majority owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer, World Athletics president Sebastian Coe, and “many other wealthy investors.”

Raine Group opened the bidding for Chelsea last month and considered many bids before shortlisting four that had the most potential earlier in April. Since then, the Ricketts family, who own the Chicago Cubs, decided to withdraw their bid after facing backlash from Chelsea fans.

The two remaining bids that will go against Broughton’s group are both led by American investors. One is fronted by the Los Angeles Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly while the other has Steve Pagliuca, the co-owner of the Boston Celtics, as its most prominent figure.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is the F1 World Champion for the 2021 season after winning the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday. Verstappen claimed the win by overtaking his direct rival, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, in the final lap of the race. The duo entered the event tied at the top of the F1 driver standings.

Verstappen started the race from the pole position but immediately lost it to Hamilton, who emerged in front thanks to an impressive start. The two drivers were side by side shortly after, with the battle causing Hamilton to get off the track. The seven-time F1 champion managed to return to the first position regardless and held onto it despite Red Bull’s protests that he gained an unfair advantage.

Hamilton was comfortably leading for the better part of the race with Verstappen failing to make up enough ground to challenge him. However, Nicholas Latifi’s crash caused a Safety Car to be deployed on Lap 52/58, and Verstappen used the opportunity to get a fresh set of tires while Hamilton remained out.

The race resumed on Lap 58/58, giving Verstappen one last chance to attack Hamilton. The 24-year-old Dutchman, driving on faster tires, made the most out of it and overtook his rival early in the final lap. He then hold onto the lead until passing the checkered flag before erupting in massive celebration alongside the rest of the Red Bull team.

Despite getting the first through the finishing line, Max Verstappen couldn’t fully enjoy his first F1 title. Mercedes made several protests about the way the last lap unfolded. However, the Formula 1 governing body rejected the protests several hours later, allowing Verstappen to be officially crowned as the new champion.

Lewis Hamilton’s quest to stay ahead of Max Verstappen at the top of Formula 1 standings has just gotten a lot tougher. According to F1’s official announcement on social media, Hamilton will enter the upcoming Turkish Grand Prix with a 10-place grid penalty. This means that even if the Mercedes driver is best at the qualifiers, he will still start the race in 11th place.

Hamilton received the penalty after putting a new internal combustion engine in his car. By doing this, he exceeded the limit of three engine parts that each driver can change during one season.

Formula 1 also confirmed that Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz has also been hit with a penalty and will start the Turkish GP from the back of the grid. Sainz received a harsher penalty after he got a completely new engine, while Hamilton only got one power-unit component.

Lewis Hamilton is currently leading the F1 standings with 246.5 points after winning the Russian Grand Prix two weeks ago. Verstappen is breathing down his neck with 244.5 points while Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas rounds up the top three but has no real chance of entering the conversation for the title.

British racing driver Lewis Hamilton isn’t getting tired of dominating in Formula 1. Hamilton, who won the last four championships, wants to stay in F1 for “at least another three years.”

Hamilton is the favorite to win the F1 title this year as well, which would tie him with the greatest of all time Michael Schumacher. However, the 35-year-old racer doesn’t mean to stop there.

“I think you still have to earn the right to be here in terms of how you perform and continue to deliver,” Hamilton told reporters on Thursday. “So my goal is to continue to deliver as long as I can. I do see myself going for at least another three years.”

Hamilton is only under contract with Mercedes-AMG Petronas for 2020, but sources close to the team said that the two sides are expected to reach an agreement in the coming months. His last extension came in 2018 when he inked a two-year deal that made him the best paid F1 driver in history with around $53 million-per-year salary.

Lewis Hamilton opened the 2020 season missing the podium on the Austrian Grand Prix but then bounced back with wins on Styrian and Hungarian GP. He now has 86 career wins, being five short from Schumacher’s record of 91.

In a thrilling race on Sunday at Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton managed to come out victorious and further extend his lead on F1 standings.

By finishing first, Hamilton also claimed a record sixth career win at the circuit which put him ahead of Briton Jim Clark and France’s Alain Prost who are tied at second with five.

Things didn’t look all that great for Hamilton, who had 141,000 home fans cheering for him. Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas had the pole position ahead of him and managed to hold onto the lead early in the race.

However, after Bottas decided to make a pit stop in order to get new tires, Lewis Hamilton claimed the lead which he would presumably lose after his own pit stop. However, after a safety car got onto the stage following a crash involving Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi, Hamilton made a pit stop and managed to stay on the first spot.

“Silverstone, I love you!” – said Hamilton after the race. “I can’t tell you how proud I am to be here today. I’m forever grateful to all the fans who came. I couldn’t have done it without my team … I’m super proud to be a part of this.”

“To have six and be up there with the greats, I remember growing up watching this sport, watching the greats, meeting the greats and even working with the greats. To now be up there with them is one of the cooler things,” – he added.

With British Grand Prix win and a bonus point for the fastest lap, Hamilton now has 223 points compared to Bottas with 184 on the second place and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen on the third with 136.

In the constructor rankings, Mercedes is comfortably first with 407 points ahead of second-placed Ferrari with 243 and third-placed Red Bull with 191.

Current Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton will drive for Mercedes in the next two seasons as well. Hamilton inked a new two-year deal that will earn him around $40 million a year. He could also earn more than $10 million on top of that on bonuses.

I have been part of the Mercedes racing family for 20 years and I have never been happier inside a team than I am right now,” – said Hamilton after the deal was announced. “We are on the same wavelength both on and off track – and I am looking forward to winning more in the future and shining even more light on the three-pointed star. I’m very confident that Mercedes is the right place to be over the coming years.”

The 33-year-old also said that signing a new deal was just a “formality,” since he and Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff already had most of the things agreed on last winter when they started the discussions.

It’s good to put pen to paper, announce it and then get on with business as usual,” – added Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most successful drivers in Formula One history, having won four championships and holding several records including the one for the all-time most career points (2,773). Hamilton joined Mercedes in 2013 from McLaren and consecutive titles in his two first seasons. His teammate Nico Rosberg then won the title in 2016, with Hamilton regaining the trophy last season.

In the 2018 season, Lewis Hamilton is currently ranked second, sitting eight points behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
