Lee Stempniak is calling it quits. The journeyman winger, who played for 10 NHL teams during his career, announced on Tuesday that he is retiring after 14 years in the league.

Stempniak spent the previous season with Boston Bruins organization but played the better part of the 2018/19 with their AHL affiliate Providence Bruins. He made only two NHL appearances.

Announcing his retirement decision, Stempniak said he is honored and privileged to have played in the NHL and that he is “extremely grateful” that he had the opportunity to live his dream.

“I would like to thank each and every organization, all of my coaches and the staff members for your help over the years. A special thank you to all of my teammates. I will miss our friendships, laughter, and camaraderie.” – said Stempniak in a statement published by NHL Player Association.

Lee Stempniak started his NHL career with St. Louis Blues, where he remained for four years. He then went on to play with Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, and Carolina Hurricanes among other teams, but never managed to stay more than three years with the same organization.

Over the course of his career, Stempniak played 911 games in NHL and contributed with 203 and 266 assists.
