U.S. Basketball is reportedly finalizing the 12-man roster for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA is expected to be headlined by superstars LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors), and Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns).

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, James, Curry, and Durant will be joined by Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Devin Booker (Suns), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jrue Holiday (Celtics), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) and Anthony Davis (Lakers). Wojnarowski adds that Team USA could opt to keep one spot open for the time being.

Team USA is looking for redemption after a disappointing run at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, which saw them missing out on a medal with a third-place game loss to Canada. Out of players who were on the World Cup team, only Haliburton and Edwards will return for the Paris Olympics.

Curry will play at his first-ever Olympic games. He was close to playing at the 2016 Games in Rio but ended up withdrawing due to injuries. On the other hand, James returns to the Olympics for the first time since 2012, when he led Team USA to the gold medal.

Durant is the most accomplished Olympian on the team, having played in the last three Olympics and won gold each time.

Although the Los Angeles Lakers’ star LeBron James continues to play at a high level in his 21st season in the NBA, he knows that his time in the league is coming to an end sooner rather than later.

James delivered an impressive performance in a 116-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night, scoring 40 points and making a career-high nine three-pointers. When asked how much longer he intends to play after the game, James admitted that he doesn’t have too much time left.

“Not very long,” James said. “I’m on the other side, obviously, of the hill. So I’m not going to play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know what or when that door will close as far as when I retire, but I don’t have much time left.”

The Nets’ game saw James becoming only the second player to have multiple 40-point games at the age of 39. Michael Jordan had three 40-point games at the same age.

James is currently averaging 25.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game while shooting a career-high 41.6% from behind the arc. The Lakers are currently sitting at No. 9 in the Western Conference standings with a 42-33 record and seven wins from their last 10 games.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James says there is no reason for concern even though he was forced to exit a 130-120 loss to the Sacramento Kings early and did so while limping.

James had 31 points, five rebounds, and 13 assists against the Kings before heading to the locker room with 3:56 left on the clock. At that point, the Lakers were looking at a 14-point deficit despite leading by 19 after the first quarter.

Speaking with reporters after the game, James said that he was bothered by his ankle, a recurring issue he has been dealing with for quite some time.

“I’ll be all right,” James said. “It’s just my ankle. It’s just what I’ve been dealing with before the [All-Star] break, after the break. I’m just managing it the best way I can.”

Sources close to the Lakers later told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that James’ ankle issues are simply a result of “wear and tear” from his long career. He is currently in his 21st season in the NBA and has played 1,477 regular-season games and 282 playoff games.

James has managed to stay relatively healthy this season and is currently in place to play the most games since 2019-20. He is currently averaging 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James added another massive achievement to his resume. In a 124-114 loss to the Denver Nuggets over the weekend, James became the first player in NBA history to reach 40,000 career points.

James, who became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer last season, reached the 40K mark early in the second quarter by driving to the basket and converting a layup. He finished the game with 26 points and a career tally of 40,017 points.

Speaking with reporters after the game, James said that his achievement feels special but that he isn’t happy it came in a losing effort.

“Being the first player to do something, it’s pretty cool in this league, just knowing the history, the greats that’s come through the league and then you see some of the greats on the floor tonight, it was great to compete,” James said after the game. “But for me, the main thing, as always, is to win, and I hated that it had to happen in a defeat.”

Despite being in his 21st season as a pro, LeBron James continues to be one of the best players in the game. He is averaging 25.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game while shooting a career-high 40.8% from behind the three-point line.

However, not even James’ performances are able to lift the underperforming Lakers. The LA team is currently 10th in the Western Conference standings with a 33-29 record.

The NBA unveiled the East and West starters for the upcoming 2024 All-Star Game. The selection is highlighted by Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James, who received his 20th All-Star nod.

James now stands alone as the player with the most All-Star selections in the history of the league. He was previously tied at 19 with Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul Jabbar. James will be joined by Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder) in the West starting lineup.

“Very blessed to be able to do what I love to do and just try to give back, give back to the game that’s given me over two decades,” said James of his achievement. “So, to be able to know this is the first time ever in NBA history to have this many All-Star starts or whatever the case might be, it’s very cool.”

The East starters are Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid, Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, and Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton.

The list of All-Star reserves, voted by the head coaches of NBA teams, will be unveiled on February 1. The 2024 All-Star Game is scheduled to take place on February 18 in Indianapolis at the Pacers’ home arena, Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This year, the NBA reverted to the traditional Eastern Conference versus Western Conference format.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is returning to the Olympics. The USA Basketball announced the player pool for the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday, with the list of 41 names being headlined by James, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, and Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant.

James, who has two gold medals with Team USA, hasn’t played at the Olympics since the London Games in 2012. Curry is looking to play at his first Olympics, while Durant is looking for his fourth consecutive gold medal. Reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid, who previously snubbed France and committed to playing for Team USA, is also on the list.

The rest of the player pool is a mix of established veterans and young superstars. The veterans include Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat), Kyrie Irving (Dallas Mavericks), and Paul George (Los Angeles Clipper), while young talent is represented by Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers) and Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder).

With a star-studded list, Team USA is looking to send a statement to the rest of the world after an underwhelming performance at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Team USA sent a team without many big names at the World Cup but returned empty-handed, finishing seventh.

It is important to note that the player pool is just a provisional list that will be subject to changes as the Paris Olympics approaches. However, all the players that are currently on it have expressed the desire to represent the United States in the summer.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in free fall. They suffered a 110-96 to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night to drop below .500 and slide to No. 10 on the Western Conference standings with a 17-18 record.

This was the Lakers’ third straight defeat, and they have now suffered nine losses in their past 12 games.

The Lakers haven’t been very competitive against the Heat, turning the ball over 20 times and making only four of their 30 three-point tries. Two of their starters for the night, Taurean Prince and Cam Reddish, finished scoreless while superstar LeBron James only had 12 points, his lowest since the 2023-24 season started.

Anthony Davis, who was the Lakers’ best player on the court with 29 points and 17 rebounds, said after the game that the Lakers need to “figure” stuff out in order to change their fortunes.

“It’s a little bit of everything right now and if we keep on this trend, it’s not going to be good for us,” Davis said. “It’s kind of obvious that we’ve got to figure it out sooner than later.”

The LA Lakers will be hoping that the return of Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell, who are out with injuries, can provide them a spark and help right the ship. They are also expected to be active on the trade market, with names like Chicago Bulls’ All-Star Zach LaVine and Atlanta Hawks’ guard Dejounte Murray being linked with the franchise in trade rumors.

“I’m just happy I’m still able to go get it at this point in my career. I mean, he trusted me to go get it, so I wanted to go up there,” the Lakers star remarked after the win. Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell was impressed with James’ performance, explaining, “I mean, he took over.”

James has proven to be an impactful player during the later stages of games throughout this season, scoring 51 points in the fourth quarter and overtime this season. The victory takes the Lakers 3-2.

The USA Basketball Men’s National Team could see a return of its biggest and brightest stars for the 2024 Summer Olympics. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James wants to play for Team USA at the Olympics tournament and intends to recruit several other high-profile NBA names.

Charania reports that James sees the 2024 Paris Olympics as a perfect chance to end his stint with Team USA on a high note. The 38-year-old last played for the U.S. in 2012, when he helped his country win a gold medal.

James has already been in contact with a number of NBA stars he wants to join him in 2024. Reportedly, Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant and Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry also see the Paris Olympics as their last chance to play meaningful games with Team USA. Curry would be especially motivated as he never played at the Olympics before.

It is believed that James also spoke with his Lakers’ teammate Anthony Davis, Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, and Golden State’s Draymond Green about teaming up on Team USA. Suns’ Devin Booker, Dallas Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving, and Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard previously also expressed a level of interest in playing in Paris.

Team USA general director Grant Hill and head coach Steve Kerr will definitely be thrilled with the news, especially after a disappointing 2023 FIBA World Cup campaign. The Americans missed out on a medal, suffering a 127-118 overtime loss to Canada in a third-place match.

LeBron James isn’t retiring just yet. During his acceptance speech for the Best Record-Breaking Performance award at the 2023 ESPYS, James confirmed that he would be back for the 2023-24 NBA season.

After the Los Angeles Lakers got eliminated in the 2023 Western Conference Finals by the Denver Nuggets, James told reporters that he isn’t sure whether he’ll continue playing professional basketball. But as it turns out, this was said in the heat of the moment.

Speaking at the ESPYS, James said that he isn’t too bothered about how many points he scores or things he does on the court.

“The real question for me is: Can I play without cheating this game?” said James. “The day I can’t give everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done.”

And James believes he still hasn’t reached the “cheating” phase.

“Lucky for you guys, that day is not today,” he added.

LeBron James’ return next season means that he’ll become only the sixth player in NBA history to have 21 or more seasons under his belt. He’ll join Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Robert Parish, Kevin Willis, and Vince Carter on the list.

Despite struggling with injuries in 2022-23, James still managed to put together an impressive campaign. He averaged 28.9 points per game while adding 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

LeBron James proved to be the Los Angeles Lakers’ difference-maker during his 42 minutes on the court during their 130-125 win over the LA Clippers on Wednesday. The veteran contributed 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists on the night.
