Although the Los Angeles Lakers’ star LeBron James continues to play at a high level in his 21st season in the NBA, he knows that his time in the league is coming to an end sooner rather than later.

James delivered an impressive performance in a 116-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night, scoring 40 points and making a career-high nine three-pointers. When asked how much longer he intends to play after the game, James admitted that he doesn’t have too much time left.

“Not very long,” James said. “I’m on the other side, obviously, of the hill. So I’m not going to play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know what or when that door will close as far as when I retire, but I don’t have much time left.”

The Nets’ game saw James becoming only the second player to have multiple 40-point games at the age of 39. Michael Jordan had three 40-point games at the same age.

James is currently averaging 25.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game while shooting a career-high 41.6% from behind the arc. The Lakers are currently sitting at No. 9 in the Western Conference standings with a 42-33 record and seven wins from their last 10 games.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James added another massive achievement to his resume. In a 124-114 loss to the Denver Nuggets over the weekend, James became the first player in NBA history to reach 40,000 career points.

James, who became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer last season, reached the 40K mark early in the second quarter by driving to the basket and converting a layup. He finished the game with 26 points and a career tally of 40,017 points.

Speaking with reporters after the game, James said that his achievement feels special but that he isn’t happy it came in a losing effort.

“Being the first player to do something, it’s pretty cool in this league, just knowing the history, the greats that’s come through the league and then you see some of the greats on the floor tonight, it was great to compete,” James said after the game. “But for me, the main thing, as always, is to win, and I hated that it had to happen in a defeat.”

Despite being in his 21st season as a pro, LeBron James continues to be one of the best players in the game. He is averaging 25.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game while shooting a career-high 40.8% from behind the three-point line.

However, not even James’ performances are able to lift the underperforming Lakers. The LA team is currently 10th in the Western Conference standings with a 33-29 record.

LeBron James isn’t retiring just yet. During his acceptance speech for the Best Record-Breaking Performance award at the 2023 ESPYS, James confirmed that he would be back for the 2023-24 NBA season.

After the Los Angeles Lakers got eliminated in the 2023 Western Conference Finals by the Denver Nuggets, James told reporters that he isn’t sure whether he’ll continue playing professional basketball. But as it turns out, this was said in the heat of the moment.

Speaking at the ESPYS, James said that he isn’t too bothered about how many points he scores or things he does on the court.

“The real question for me is: Can I play without cheating this game?” said James. “The day I can’t give everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done.”

And James believes he still hasn’t reached the “cheating” phase.

“Lucky for you guys, that day is not today,” he added.

LeBron James’ return next season means that he’ll become only the sixth player in NBA history to have 21 or more seasons under his belt. He’ll join Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Robert Parish, Kevin Willis, and Vince Carter on the list.

Despite struggling with injuries in 2022-23, James still managed to put together an impressive campaign. He averaged 28.9 points per game while adding 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

The Los Angeles Lakers delivered a statement 125-85 win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night to advance to the second round of NBA Playoffs. The Lakers became just the sixth No.7 seed in NBA history to beat the No. 2 seed.

The LA team is now waiting for the conclusion of the Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings series to find out their opponent in the Western Conference semifinals.

After a sluggish performance in a Game 5 loss, the Lakers superstar LeBron James vowed he’d play better. And James delivered on the promise, putting up an efficient performance that saw him score 16 points by halftime. He finished the night with 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists in 31 minutes on the floor.

According to James, the Lakers didn’t want to extend the series any longer and wanted to take care of the business in front of their own fans.

“It was definitely a Game 7 mentality for us,” James told reporters. “We understood that we had an opportunity to play in front of our fans, and we wanted to try to end it tonight.”

Making it to the second round, especially against a talented team like the Grizzlies, is a big success for the Lakers. They endured a tough regular season that saw them start 2-10 and remain under .500 for the better part of the campaign. But after easily handling the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Play-In tournament and now sending Memphis packing, the Lakers now look like a legitimate contender who could go all the way.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James received some uplifting news on Saturday when he appeared to make progress in his recovery from injury. The Lakers announced that he will be listed as “doubtful” rather than “out” of the team’s home game against the Chicago Bulls at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night.

James has been sidelined with a tendon injury in his right foot since February 26, rendering him unable to take to the court in any of the 13 games that followed. The player tweeted earlier this week that he has been working out three times a day in an effort to prepare himself for a comeback.

The Lakers star’s return to action will be warmly received by the team which has only recently managed to find its feet during James’ absence. Without James in the lineup, the Lakers have gone 8-5, consequently climbing to eighth place in the Western Conference rankings and giving themselves a chance at qualifying for the NBA Playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff hopes have just suffered a major hit. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Lakers’ superstar LeBron James is dealing with a right foot injury and is expected to miss an “extended period of time.”

James is currently undergoing further tests on his right foot in order to find out the full extent of the injury. However, the Lakers are not optimistic about results and are reportedly bracing to be without their best player for several weeks.

James was injured in the third quarter of the Lakers’ 108-111 comeback win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. He remained on the floor for the final period, finishing the game with 26 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. The 38-year-old is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists for the season.

His injury comes at the worst possible time for the Lakers. The team is out of the playoff picture at the moment, but a recent three-win streak has put them in a position to make a push for a postseason spot. With a 29-32 record, the LA team is currently at No. 12 in the West with 21 games left to play. They are 0.5 games behind the No. 10, last Play-In spot, and only 2.5 games removed from the Mavericks, who are the sixth seed.

The Lakers will now hope that their revamped roster can do enough to weather through James’ absence. The franchise previously made a blockbuster trade ahead of the deadline that saw them move All-Star guard Russell Westbrook while acquiring guards D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley and forward Jarred Vanderbilt.

The Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James made history on Tuesday night, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 career points to claim the top spot for the most career points in NBA history.

James achieved this feat in the third quarter of his team’s narrow 133-130 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night when he made a 14-foot jump to surpass Abdul Jabbar’s record which has stood for nearly 40 years.

The game was brought to a halt after James’ record-breaking shot, with the crowd chanting “MVP, MVP” in James’ favor as he embraced his wife, mother, and three children as they came onto the court. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Abdul-Jabbar then joined James for a 10-minute ceremony, where Abdul-Jabbar held the game ball aloft before handing it to James.

“I just want to say, thank you to the Laker faithful. You guys are one of a kind,” an emotional James exclaimed to the Lakers’ supporters. “To be able to be in the presence of such a legend as great as Kareem, it’s very humbling. Please give a standing ovation to the Captain, please.”

Needing just 36 points to overtake Abdul-Jabbar’s record before the game, James ended the game with 38 points on 13-of-20 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3.

LeBron James is set to return from injury when the Los Angeles Lakers take on the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. This will mark James’ first appearance at Madison Square Garden after three years.

Last year, James missed the Knicks game on the road due to a suspension after an altercation with the Detroit Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart. Two years ago, James missed the same fixture due to a high ankle sprain.

James missed the Lakers’ 121-104 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night after complaining of “significant soreness” in his left foot, Lakers coach Darvin Ham revealed. Fellow Lakers star Anthony Davis also missed the Nets game due to the same right foot injury that has resulted in him missing 20 games from mid-December to late January.

Like James, Davis is listed as probable for the Knicks game. Starting point guard Patrick Beverley, on the other hand, remains unavailable as he continued to experience left knee soreness.

For James, Madison Square Garden remains a favorite arena to play in. The four-time MVP once mentioned that playing at MSG is his favorite part about visiting New York City.

LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been named as the captains of the teams set to take part in the NBA All-Star game in Salt Lake City next month.

This is the sixth time that James will be an All-Star captain, having taken on the role every year since the NBA adopted the format whereby the two All-Star captains draft their individual teams. James has appeared in 19 NBA All-Star games in total.

Antetokounmpo will be an All-Star captain for a third outing, having previously served in this role in 2019 and 2020. The Milwaukee Bucks star will also be participating in the seventh-consecutive All-Star game of his career.

Starting alongside James in the Western Conference team will be Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

The Eastern Conference lineup will be comprised of Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant and teammate Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Players were selected through a weighted voting process, whereby 50% of the weighting was given to fans, 25% to players, and another 25% to the media panel.
