Star wide receiver Davante Adams has been the subject of trade rumors for the better part of the offseason, but it appears that he isn’t thinking about playing somewhere else than the Las Vegas Raiders.

During a chat with reporters over the weekend, Adams reiterated his commitment to the Raiders when asked about his future with the franchise.

“If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now,” Adams said via The Athletic. “This is where I want to be.”

Davante Adams landed with the Raiders ahead of the 2022 NFL season in a blockbuster trade from the Green Bay Packers. Adams wanted the change of scenery while also being attracted to the prospects of playing for the Raiders, the team he grew up supporting and the opportunity to team up with his former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr.

Adams had a great first year in Las Vegas, catching 100 passes for 1,516 yards while leading the league with 14 touchdowns. However, the Raiders missed the playoffs and released Carr in the offseason, causing Adams to air out his frustration.

In 2023, Adams once again delivered from an individual standpoint, finishing the campaign with 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight TDs, while the Raiders struggled and eventually made coaching and front-office changes.

While many expected that Adams would look for a way out after two disappointing seasons with the Raiders, the six-time Pro Bowler seems encouraged with the direction in which the franchise is headed, especially after interim head coach Antonio Pierce got the job on a full-time basis.

“It’s already helped the morale of the team. It’s what we were all looking for: To be able to continue with the same mindset that we had. That’s our guy,” Adams added.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback room will look a lot different next season. The franchise just announced that they are releasing veteran signal-callers Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer, among other players.

Besides Garoppolo and Hoyer, the Raiders are also moving on from wideout Hunter Renfrow and defensive tackle Jerry Tillery.

Garoppolo signed with the Raiders last offseason on a three-year, $72.75 million deal, reuniting with head coach Josh McDaniels, who previously served as his offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots. However, the move didn’t quite pan out.

Garoppolo largely struggled in his six starts in 2023, throwing for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions while also dealing with injuries. He ended up being benched in favor of rookie Aidan O’Connell in Week 9, shortly after McDaniels was fired as the Raiders’ head coach.

Hoyer, who also had familiarity with McDaniels, made one start in 2023 as an injury replacement for Garoppolo. He threw for 231 yards and two interceptions in a Week 7 loss to the Chicago Bears.

The decision to move on from Garoppolo and Hoyer wasn’t unexpected, considering that the Raiders already signed free-agent quarterback Gardner Minshew earlier this week. They are also expected to look into drafting one of the QB prospects in the upcoming draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo received a two-game suspension from the NFL. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Garoppolo was suspended for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The suspension will see Garoppolo missing the first two games of the 2024 NFL season. However, once he returns to action, it won’t be in the Raiders’ jersey.

Sources close to the Raiders organization told Schefter that the team intends to release Garoppolo in the coming weeks. The move is expected to come before the 32-year-old player becomes eligible to collect his $11.25 million roster bonus in mid-March.

Jimmy Garoppolo signed with the Raiders on a three-year, $73 million contract that came with $33.75 million guaranteed money ahead of the 2023 season. The move reunited him with head coach Josh McDaniels, who served as his offensive coordinator during Garoppolo’s time with the New England Patriots.

Garoppolo played poorly at the start of his stint with the Raiders, being benched in Week 9 in favor of rookie Aidan O’Connell. He went 3-3 as a starter, throwing for 1,205 yards and seven touchdowns while leading the league with nine interceptions at that point.

After they release Garoppolo, the Raiders will only have O’Connel and veteran Brian Hoyer in their QB room. Neither is viewed as a viable option for the future, so expect the Las Vegas team to upgrade the position through draft or free agency.

Garoppolo, on the other hand, will likely land a job as a high-end backup or bridge quarterback.

After hiring Antonio Pierce as their new head coach, the Las Vegas Raiders reportedly filled their general manager vacancy. According to multiple reports, the Raiders are looking to hire former Los Angeles Chargers GM Tom Telesco to take over the team’s front office.

Telesco served 11 seasons as the general manager of the Chargers, who play in the AFC West just like the Chargers, before being fired at the end of the 2023 regular season alongside head coach Brandon Staley.

The Raiders had a GM vacancy since making an organizational sweep in October by moving on from head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. Owner Mark Davis initially targeted up-and-coming candidates around the league in recent weeks, but his opinion changed after hiring Pierce, who succeeded McDaniels on an interim basis, as the full-time head coach.

Davis reportedly didn’t want to pair up a first-year head coach with a first-year general manager. He put more focus on experienced candidates, and Telesco, who worked in the NFL for more than three decades, stood out as a perfect pairing with Pierce.

Tom Telesco started out as an intern with the Buffalo Bills in 1991 before moving on to serve in different roles, including area scout, with the Carolina Panthers and the Indianapolis Colts. Telesco was elevated to director of player personnel with the Colts in 2006 and held the job until 2012, when he was promoted to Vice president of football operations.

In 2013, Telesco was hired to serve as the general manager of the Chargers. During his time in the front office, the Chargers went 79-83 in the regular season and were 2-3 in three playoff appearances.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ players will get their wish. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the franchise is finalizing an agreement with interim head coach Antonio Pierce that will see him take the job on a full-time basis.

Pierce started the season as Raiders’ linebackers coach but was unexpectedly promoted to interim head coach following the dismissal of Josh McDaniels in October. Pierce did a good job, leading the Las Vegas team to a 5-4 record in the remaining nine games while proving to be quite popular among the players.

After the Raiders wrapped up their 2023 season, a number of players publicly campaigned for Pierce to get the job on a full-time basis. Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby even reportedly threatened to ask for a trade if Pierce isn’t coaching the team in 2024.

The Raiders were linked with a number of big-time coaching names in recent weeks, including Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick. However, owner Mark Davis decided against making a flashy hire like in some previous cases and instead made what many analysts consider to be the “right” hire.

Antonio Pierce played nine years in the NFL as a linebacker with Washington and the New York Giants. He retired following the 2009 season and went on to work as a head coach in high school, followed by a stint with Arizona State as a defensive assistant. Getting hired by the Raiders in 2022 as a linebackers coach was Pierce’s first coaching job in the NFL.

The Las Vegas Raiders have played great football since Antonio Pierce stepped in as the team’s interim head coach. And if you ask Raiders’ wideout Davante Adams, Pierce should get to keep the job on a permanent basis.

Speaking with reporters earlier this week, Adams endorsed Pierce as the Raiders’ full-time head coach while adding that the rest of the team’s locker room feels the same way.

“It’s obviously who I wanted,” Adams said. “That’s my vote, and I’ve been vocal about that, and that’s basically how the whole locker room feels, with good reason. He’s come in and done a great job and it’s continued to win us over. It’s not just the comfortable thing, I think having AP here would be good for this organization.”

The Raiders endured a disappointing start to the 2023 campaign, going 3-5 before firing second-year head coach Josh McDaniels and replacing him with Pierce. Since then, the Raiders went 4-4 and looked a lot better on the field, playing inspired football that included a 63-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

While Pierce might have the support of the players, there are several things working against him. He only started coaching in the NFL in 2022, landing a linebacker’s coach job with the Raiders, while also having four years of experience coaching at the college level prior to that. Also, there are rumors that Raiders’ owner Mark Davis wants a big name hire, with Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh being mentioned as one of the candidates.

All-Pro corner Marcus Peters’ time with the Las Vegas Raiders has come to an end. According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, Peters was informed by the Raiders on Monday that he is being released.

Peters will now be placed on waivers while the Raiders save $1.5 million that the veteran was on pace to make.

After spending a better part of the offseason on the free agent market, Peters agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Raiders in late July. He immediately became a starter and was expected to boost the team’s struggling secondary.

While Peters played the part to a point, including having an interception returned for a touchdown earlier in the season, his overall effort on defense was considered questionable. He was particularly sloppy in tackling assignments, causing the Raiders’ interim head coach, Antonio Pierce, to bench him in Sunday’s 17-31 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaking with reporters on Monday morning, Pierce confirmed that Peters won’t be part of the team moving forward.

“We decided to move forward,” said Pierce when asked about Peters. “Had a great conversation with (Peters) this morning. I will leave it at that.”

Reportedly, Peters’ lack of effort has put him in danger of being released even earlier in the offseason. Besides saving some money and moving from a player they believe wasn’t committed enough, the move gives the Las Vegas team the ability to give more playing time to veteran Jack Jones and rookie Jakorian Bennett and evaluate them for the next season.

“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave,” Raiders owner Mark Davis confirmed. “I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”

Las Vegas has named linebackers coach Antonio Pierce as their interim head coach. Current assistant general manager Champ Kelly will serve as interim GM, with the organization pledging to begin their search for a new permanent general manager once the current season is complete. A decision on who will take on offensive playcalling duties is yet to be made.

Sources close to the matter have claimed that the Las Vegas Raiders have informed other NFL teams that they have no intention of trading Davante Adams before the October 31 trade deadline. The Raiders are refusing to allow him to depart even if the player himself is open to a trade.

Adams expressed his frustration with the Raiders’ offense, giving rise to speculation surrounding the player’s potential departure from Las Vegas. “If it don’t look like it’s supposed to look, then I’m going to be frustrated if I’m not a part of that plan,” Adams stated. “I have the opportunity to go and change that and make it look like a much better picture out there, and if that doesn’t happen, then I’m going to be frustrated. If Jakobi [Meyers] goes out and has a monster game or if the offense is scoring every five plays, like our first drive on the Bills, then it is what it is.”

This frustration comes after Adams signed a five-year deal with the Raiders in 2022. Since Adams’ arrival, Raiders coach Josh McDaniel had planned for him to become the centerpiece of the team’s offensive gameplan.

The Las Vegas Raiders and the Chicago Bears matchup in Week 7 promises to be quite an intriguing game. According to reports, neither of the two teams will have their starting quarterbacks on the field and could instead have rookie signal-callers under center for the clash.

The Raiders’ starter, Jimmy Garoppolo, is dealing with a back injury that has caused him to miss the Week 6 win over the New England Patriots. The Las Vegas team played veteran Brian Hoyer against the Pats, but head coach Josh McDaniels could reportedly turn to rookie Aidan O’Connell against the Bears.

O’Connell, a fourth-round pick out of Purdue, has been electric in the preseason but struggled in Week 4 starts against the Las Vegas Raiders. He finished the Chargers game with 238 passing yards but threw one interception and fumbled the ball three times.

The Bears, on the other hand, ruled out starter Justin Fields due to a thumb injury on Friday. Instead of Fields, Chicago announced that they would start first-year quarterback Tyson Bagent. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Shepherd, Bagent saw some action in last week’s 13-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Entering the game instead of injured Fields, Bagent completed 71.4 percent of his passes while throwing for 83 yards and one interception.

The Raiders are currently riding a two-game win streak and are second in the AFC West with a 3-3 record. The Bears dead last in the NFC North with a 1-5 record.

The Las Vegas Raiders have parted ways with head coach Josh McDaniels as well as general manager Dave Ziegler, the team announced on Tuesday night.
