Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson announced on social media that he has returned to the Philadelphia Eagles after previously taking a two-week leave to focus on his mental health.

Johnson left the team ahead of the Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and hasn’t played or practiced with the Eagles since. Head coach Nick Sirianni previously said the 31-year-old is absent due to “personal reasons” and said he isn’t sure whether the veteran will play again in 2021.

However, Johnson reported to the team on Monday and is expected to be on the field for the Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. This will likely mean that Jordan Mailata, who was filling in for Johnson, will return to left tackle while Jack Driscoll will assume his backup role once again.

“I am excited to re-join my teammates and coaches,” Johnson said in a statement posted on Twitter. “I’m grateful for the entire Eagles community and look forward to continuing to play in front of the best fans in the world.”

Lane Johnson spent his entire professional career with the Philadelphia Eagles. After being drafted 4th in 2013, he went on to play 102 games for the franchise and helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LII. Johnson has three Pro Bowl nods and was selected in the First-Team All-Pro in 2017.

Philadelphia Eagles have handed yet another big contract in 2019. This time, the team extended right tackle Lane Johnson, signing him to a four-year deal which will keep him with the organization through 2025.

According to ESPN, Johnson’s new deal is valued at $72 million, which made the 29-year-old the highest-paid tackle in football. The extension also comes with $54 million guaranteed.

“I’m fortunate to be where I’m at,” Johnson said after inking the deal. “Jason playing left, probably being the best, or one of the best if not the best to ever play. I’ve had a lot of great influences over my career and throughout. I never thought I’d be a right tackle my whole career, but here I am and that’s really where I plan to stay.”

Eagles drafted Lane Johnson in 2013 with the fourth overall pick. Since then, Johnson played 90 games in NFL and established himself as arguably the best tackle in football. He made two Pro Bowl appearances in the past two years, while also being named to First-Team All-Pro in 2017.

Besides Johnson, Eagles also signed quarterback Carson Wentz, right guard Brandon Brooks, kicker Jake Elliott, and long-snapper Rick Lovato to new deals in previous months. Reportedly, the next in line is tight end Zach Ertz.
