Baltimore Ravens’ second-year wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown isn’t happy with his role in the team’s offense so far in 2020. Brown has been especially frustrated with the lack of targets he has been receiving and recently even went on social media to express his displeasure after getting only two looks in Sunday’s 28-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now, Ravens’ star quarterback Lamar Jackson decided to weigh in on the situation by taking the blame for the way Brown is feeling.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Jackson said that he “has to do a better job” in getting the ball to Brown.

“That’s one of our key players to our offense,” said Jackson. “I want to get him the ball, the easiest way and fastest way we can. I have to do a better job of getting it to him.”

Brown leads Baltimore with 27 receptions for 379 yards this season but has only been targeted 44 times in the past eight games. This ranks him 45th in the NFL, which is painfully low for a player that is considered his team’s No.1 option on the position.

It remains to be seen whether Marquise Brown’s public plea will help him get more looks as the season advances. Ravens have been more oriented towards rushing due to Jackson’s unique set of abilities, and it also doesn’t help that Brown is more of a deep threat rather than a wideout for short gains.

Brown was expected to have a big season in 2020, especially considering his encouraging production last year. He finished his rookie campaign with 46 catches for 584 yards and seven touchdowns.

Baltimore Ravens’ practice on Wednesday looked a bit different than usual. Instead of their star signal-caller Lamar Jackson taking reps with the first team, it was back up Robert Griffin III serving under center.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jackson missed the practice as he is currently dealing with a knee injury. He adds that the injury “isn’t considered serious” and that the 23-year-old was held out for “precautionary reasons.”

It is unclear whether this injury will prevent Jackson from playing in Week 5 game against Cincinnati Bengals.

Jackson never missed an NFL game due to injury since making his first start with the Ravens in November 2018. He did, however, sat out the Week 17 contest in 2019 in order to rest for the playoffs.

After winning the NFL MVP award last season, Lamar Jackson is enjoying a solid start of 2020 in which he led Baltimore to a 3-1 record in the first four weeks. Jackson is currently completing a career-high 68.4 percent of his passes while throwing for 769 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception.

Jackson is also averaging 6.0 rushing yards per carry, having rushed for a total of 235 yards and 1 TD this year.

Baltimore Ravens finished the 2019 NFL season with the best record in the league and entered the playoffs as the biggest favorites to win it all. However, their road to the Super Bowl ended in the Divisional Round, where they suffered a 12-28 defeat to the Tennessee Titans.

Now, the Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson decided to offer an explanation for his team’s shocking elimination during a recent appearance on the Load Management podcast. According to Jackson, Baltimore underestimated the Titans, and it came back to bite them.

“That’s what happened in the playoffs, and we end up losing to the team people had us favored over,” said Jackson. “It’s any given Sunday. You can’t underestimate no team, no opponent, and that’s what we did.”

Jackson, who won the NFL MVP award in 2019, also admitted that he made a significant contribution to the loss. The 23-year-old signal-caller threw two interceptions and had a forced fumble that sealed Ravens’ fate in that game.

“I had a lot of mistakes on my behalf,” said Jackson. “Three turnovers—that shouldn’t happen. But [Tennessee] came out to play.”

The Baltimore Ravens are among the Super Bowl favorites this season as well, and there is no doubt that their players will be motivated to avenge the loss against Tennessee. Lamar Jackson especially.
