The Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is unlikely to play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday as he battles with a right thumb injury. Still, one source claimed that the Rams are willing to wait to see if there is any change to his status before ruling him out completely.

Officially listed as questionable, Stafford was injured during his team’s 43-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. While one source mentioned earlier in the week that it “would have been unthinkable” for him to play on Sunday due to his ulnar collateral ligament sprain, he may end up being rested given that he will have two weeks to recover before the Rams’ next game due to a bye next week.

Should Stafford be rested, Brett Rypien would be expected to replace him with Dresser Winn as backup. Star rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is also listed as questionable, is expected to play.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner and the Los Angeles Rams have mutually agreed to part ways after one season. Wagner signed a five-year, $50 million deal with $20 million in guarantees in March 2022.

Following Wagner’s release, the Rams are set to free up $5 million in salary cap space; a crucial move since the team remains $13.7 million over the salary cap leading up to the new season. The team does, however, incur a $7.5 million dead money charge as a result of Wagner’s release.

Although the team could save $8 million by designating Wagner as a post-June 1 release, the savings won’t be credited to their cap until the summer.

Wagner joined the Rams after spending 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Last season, Wagner posted 140 tackles, a career-high 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 5 passes defended in 17 games, earning himself second-team All-Pro honors in the process. This is the ninth time in his 11 NFL season that the linebacker was named an All-Pro. Impressively, Wagner has posted over 100 tackles in each of his seasons.

The Rams narrowly missed out on the opportunity to sign Wagner in 2012 when he entered the NFL Draft. While the Rams intended to draft him, they shifted him down to five spots, with the Seahawks swooping in to take him.

The Los Angeles Rams have appointed Mike LaFleur as their new offensive coordinator, the team revealed on Friday night. This comes after LaFleur left his previous position as offensive coordinator of the New York Jets while Liam Coen vacated the same position on the Rams’ team in search of a job at the Kentucky Wildcats.

Los Angeles will be hoping that LaFleur can help to improve their ability to move the ball down the field. In 2022, the team made 280.5 yards per game, the lowest in the league. They also came 27th in the NFL for points per game with 18.1.

Having won Super Bowl LVI last February, the Rams were unable to hit their stride over the past season after getting hit hard by an array of injury setbacks. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, along with wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson were all ruled out of action with season-ending injuries.

Prior to joining the Jets, LaFleur was the passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers as well as wide receivers coach from 2017 until 2020.

The Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been ruled out of his team’s clash against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Friday. According to McVay, there is a strong possibility that the injury could see Donald remain on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.

Donald suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 12 during his team’s 10-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Soon after Donald’s injury, McVay announced that the team would monitor his progress on a weekly basis to determine when he could be considered fit enough to return to action.

McVay revealed on Friday that while Donald is making good progress in his recovery, he is unlikely to be cleared to play by the Rams’ medical staff before the conclusion of the season.

“Will he be fully cleared to be Aaron Donald?” McVay commented. “And if he is, then we talk to him and see. But if not, we’ll err on the side of being smarter. But obviously, he’s a guy that has certainly earned the right where you talk to him. But he’s not cleared yet and I don’t know that I see that changing in the next couple weeks.”

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been cleared to play in the game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday after being cleared of concussion protocol. Following his absence during the Rams’ 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, Stafford has been on the mend, becoming a full participant in the teams’ training all week.

Stafford entered concussion protocol on November 8 after the Rams’ Week 9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers after the team’s medical staff determined that this was the “appropriate” action following an examination of the player. After the game, coach Sean McVay revealed that he did not see any indication during the game that Stafford had been dealing with concussion symptoms.

Although Stafford is listed as being available for Sunday’s game, McVay has confirmed that quarterback Bryce Perkins may back up Stafford against the Saints should the need arise. Fellow quarterback John Wolford, who played in Stafford’s place against the Cardinals last week, has been listed on the team’s injury report after suffering a neck injury.

Prior to entering concussion protocol, Stafford had completed 68.4% of his passes for 1,928 yards this season along with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The Los Angeles Rams are Super Bowl champions once again. The Rams lifted the Vince Lombardi trophy after getting a narrow 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl LVI clash on Sunday night.

The Rams were overwhelming favorites entering the game thanks to their star-studded roster and the fact they were playing an inexperienced and young Cincinnati Bengals team. The LA team justified the prediction early in the game, racing to a 13-3 lead midway through the second quarter thanks to touchdown catches by Odell Beckham Jr. and Cooper Kupp.

The Bengals, however, found their footing before the end of the first half and cut the lead to 13-10. They continued the comeback in the third quarter, opening the period with a 75-yard touchdown connection between quarterback Joe Burrow and wideout Tee Higgins. Cincinnati’s defense then did their part, intercepting QB Matthew Stafford and setting up a field goal to make it 13-20.

The Rams made it 16-20 on the ensuing possession before the game turned into a defensive contest midway through the third quarter. Neither team managed to get their offense going resulting in seven consecutive punts.

It was the Rams who managed to put a coherent drive first, marching 79 yards down the field late in the fourth and scoring a touchdown to get ahead.

The Bengals received the ball once with just over a minute left on the clock, but the Rams defense forced a turnover on downs to effectively bring the game to an end and secure the Vince Lombardi trophy for their franchise.

“You got to be relentless,” said Rams’ Aaron Donald, who finished the game with two sacks. “You want something bad enough you’ve got to go get it. You know it was right in front of us … all offseason you work, you train, you got camp, you got a long season just for this one game. You know we the last team standing.”

The rich get richer. This might be the most fitting description for the Los Angeles Rams defense that now has eight-time Pro Bowler Von Miller on their side.

The Rams traded for Miller on Monday, sending two draft picks to the Denver Broncos in exchange. According to the team’s official announcement, the Broncos will get a second-rounder and a third-round selection in 2022 as part of the deal.

Denver will also pay $9 million of Miller’s remaining $9.7 million salary in order to help the Rams fit the veteran under their almost maxed-out salary cap.

After missing the entire 2020 campaign due to an ankle injury, Miller bounced back this year with a solid outing in the first seven weeks of the season. He made 4.5 sacks while adding 19 tackles and nine QB hits.

The Rams already have one of the most feared defenses in the league that stars three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. With Miller, the LA team adds another dimension to their pass rush while also taking some pressure off Donald, who was frequently double-teamed this season.

“He brings an element, obviously an incredibly unique football player that not only is a great pass-rusher, but he’s a complete football player that can really affect and influence an offense in a negative way on all three downs,” said Rams head coach Sean McVay via ESPN. “You can utilize him in a variety of different ways.”

Von Miller has established himself as one of the best linebackers of his generation since entering the league as the Broncos’ second overall pick in 2011. On top of his eight Pro Bowl nods, Miller earned seven All-Pro honors while also helping Denver win Super Bowl 50 and earning Super Bowl MVP award in the process.

Throughout his career, Miller racked up 110.5 sacks in Broncos’ uniform while adding 509 tackles, 225 QB hits, 26 forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown.

The Los Angeles Rams will enter the 2021 NFL season with a new starting quarterback. According to multiple reports, the Rams made a deal with the Detroit Lions to acquire Pro Bowl signal-caller Matthew Stafford.

The trade will see the Rams getting Stafford while sending quarterback Jared Goff and draft picks to Detroit. Reportedly, the Lions will get first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 alongside a third-rounder in 2021.

The teams worked out the trade details over the weekend, but the agreement can’t be made official until March 17th, when the new league year starts.

Stafford and the Lions previously agreed to go their separate ways after another disappointing season in 2020. The team made changes in the front office and at the head coaching position recently and is expected to go down a complete rebuild in the recent future. The 32-year-old QB, on the other hand, wanted to go someplace where he can play meaningful football and challenge for a Super Bowl.

Sources close to the Lions organization say that there were “seven or eight teams” interested in Matthew Stafford, but the player wanted to go to Los Angeles. This came to be when the Rams decided Stafford could be the missing piece and decided to increase their offer.

The trade immediately makes the Rams one of the favorites in the NFC. While he never managed to win a playoff game with the Lions, Stafford is considered one of the most talented QBs in the NFL in recent decades.

During his time in Detroit, he broke almost every Lions passing record while posting eight seasons with 4,000+ yards. In total, he started 165 games and threw for 45,109 and 282 passing touchdowns.

The Rams seemed set on Jared Goff as the quarterback of their future, especially after giving him a four-year, $134 million extension in 2019. But Goff’s inconsistency and turnover problems in the past two years started bothering head coach Sean McVay.

Having arguably the best defense in the league at this moment, the Rams knew they needed to do something to get more consistency and production on the offensive end. If Stafford manages to bring this, they may be back in the Super Bowl in no time.

LA Rams had a chance to clinch a playoff spot on Sunday night, but then lost 20-9 to the Seattle Seahawks, putting them in a tough position for the final game of the season. Not only do the Rams now need to win against Arizona Cardinals to get to the postseason, but they might also have to do it without their starting quarterback Jared Goff.

Goff broke his thumb late in the third quarter of the Seattle game, hitting the helmet of the Seahawks’ Benson Mayowa during a pass. The 26-year-old quarterback managed to finish the game, but his status for Week 18 remains questionable.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Goff said that he is “uncertain” whether he will take the field against the Cardinals. Rams head coach Sean McVay also didn’t want to get into specifics.

“I’m not sure right now. I don’t want to speculate on that,” said McVay.

Goff will reportedly need surgery to fix the issue but is determined to postpone it until the offseason and wants to play through the injury.

If Jared Goff can’t make it to the field, the Rams will be forced to turn to backup John Wolford. Walford, who was undrafted in 2018, hasn’t played a single snap in a regular-season NFL game throughout his career.

Rams are second in the NFC West with a 9-6 record. In case they don’t beat the Cardinals on Sunday, they can still make the playoffs but will also need the Green Bay Packers to beat the Chicago Bears.

LA Rams’ defense, one of the biggest reasons for the team’s recent good performances that saw them claim the top of NFC West, just suffered a tough blow. According to head coach Sean McVay, Rams’ leading tackler Micah Kiser is dealing with a knee injury and was placed on the Injured Reserve list.

Kiser, who has 77 tackles in 2020 to go with three pass deflections and one forced fumble, got hurt during Monday’s big win over Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Luckily for LA, Kiser should return in time to help his team in the playoffs. McVay said that the 25-year-old player doesn’t need surgery and will most likely be added to the team after spending three weeks in IR.

This is the second time Micah Kiser lands on IR since the Rams took him with the fifth-round pick in 2018 out of Virginia. He previously spent the entire 2019 season dealing with a chest injury that required surgery.

In Kiser’s absence, the Rams are expected to turn to 2019’s undrafted linebacker Troy Reeder. In 10 games (one start) he played this season, Reeder accumulated 3.0 sacks, 21 tackles, and three QB hits.
