Sunday’s regular season finale game against the Miami Dolphins will be defensive tackle Kyle William’s final appearance for the Bills, a team he’s played for in his entire 13-year career.

Drafted in 2006, Williams has grown to be a fan favorite and a team leader over the years. He has played 182 games for the Bulls, 177 of which he started. On Friday, the 35-year-old penned an emotional letter to his fans and club to announce his retirement.

“This isn’t easy. It was never going to be,” the defensive tackle said. “There’s no perfect time to retire from a game, a franchise and a city that means so much to me and my family. But it’s time to hang up my cleats.”

Williams was quick to recognize his fans and the city of Buffalo for its unwavering support in the course of his career.

“I’ve been at this a really long time, but it doesn’t feel like it, and that’s a testament to your unwavering support” William’s letter read. “It didn’t take me long to identify with this city, with tis people, with their attitude and loyalty. This place celebrates girt as much as it does talent, and there is something to be said for that. It’s not just like everywhere else and it will always be a part of me.”
