The Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis will miss the in-season tournament quarterfinal against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Porzingis is still recovering from a left calf strain that he picked up during the Celtics’ 113-96 loss to the Orlando Magic on November 24. He has subsequently missed three games.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla confirmed that Porzingis will remain on the sidelines until his injury is reevaluated “after a week or so”. This is a frustrating disruption in what has otherwise been an impressive first season for Porzingis at the Celtics, with the Latvian averaging almost 19 points with 54.7% shooting from the field.

The Pacers are also set to be shorthanded for Monday’s quarterfinal, with star guard Tyrese Haliburton listed as questionable after he suffered a non-COVID illness and a bone bruise in his right knee that ruled him out of Saturday’s win over the Miami Heat. Forward Jalen Smith is out with left knee and heel injuries.

Since moving from the New York Knicks to the Dallas Mavericks in 2019, Kristaps Porzingis hasn’t played to his usual level. Porzingis has struggled to be impactful in a Mavs jersey, and the situation reportedly became so bad that he started looking for ways to leave Dallas and have a fresh start somewhere else.

During his recent appearance on Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast, ESPN NBA reporter Tim MacMahon revealed that Porzingis wanted to be traded at the end of the 2020-21 NBA season. However, the 26-year-old Latvian didn’t approach the Mavs front office with this official request, believing it would make him look bad—because he had also previously left the Knicks by asking for a trade in the same way.

In the meantime, Dallas revamped their organization and hired a new general manager and new head coach. According to MacMahon, this made Porzingis rethink his commitment to the organization and is now more optimistic about his future with the Mavericks.

Porzingis finished the 2020-21 season averaging respectable 20.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. However, the issue was that his defense significantly declined while he also struggled with injuries and only played 43 games. His effort was even worse in the playoffs while he just managed 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest in the first-round exit against the Los Angeles Clippers.

It remains to be seen whether Dallas’ new head coach Jason Kidd can get the most out of Porzingis moving forward or whether it will become just a matter of time before the talented big man suits up for another franchise.

Dallas Mavericks will be without their star center Kristaps Porzingis at the start of the new NBA season. According to the team, Porzingis won’t make the court in the opening games as he is still recovering from meniscus surgery he underwent back in October.

According to Dallas’ president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, the Latvian big man should be ready for action in early January. The 2020/21 NBA season is set to kick off on December 22nd, meaning that Porzingis could miss around five games.

Porzingis suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee during the Western Conference playoff series against LA Clippers.

“We’re going to make sure that that’s 100 percent before we put him out there, so that’s going to be into the season before we are able to have him join us,” said Nelson during his recent chat with 105.3 FM The Fan.

Kristaps Porzingis previously missed a year and a half after tearing his ACL halfway through the 2017/18 season while with New York Knicks. The injury cost Porzingis the remainder of the season, as well as the entire 2018/20 during which he was traded to Dallas.

Despite not seeing him play in their uniform, Mavs game Porzingis a max-contract five-year, $158 million extension ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Upon returning to court, Porzingis managed to play 57 regular-season games, averaging 20.4 points, career-high 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.

Dallas Mavericks announced on Friday that their star Kristaps Porzingis underwent knee surgery. The procedure will address the injury that the 25-year-old center suffered in the first-round series against Los Angeles Clippers.

There is currently no timeline for Porzingis’ return, but the Mavericks reportedly hope that the Latvian will recover in time for the 2020/21 training camp.

Porzingis initially got hurt in Game 1 of the Clippers’ series but continued playing through pain for the next two games. However, this caused even more issues, and he was eventually sidelined for the remainder of the duel.

Reportedly, Kristaps Porzingis considered several options when it came to addressing the injury in order to avoid the surgery. However, after consultations with doctors, he decided that the best thing for his baseball career was to get a procedure.

Porzingis enjoyed a solid 2019/20season with Dallas, playing in 57 regular-season games after previously missing year-and-a-half due to an ACL tear. He averaged 20.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.

It’s been more than a year since Dallas Mavericks’ All-Star center Kristaps Porzingis dressed up for a basketball game. Porzingis already recovered from an ACL injury he suffered in February 2018, but the Mavs’ and he are taking the cautious approach and decided he won’t play until the next season.

While he fully understands the reasons behind this, the 23-year-old Latvian is still having it “very, very tough” when it comes to sitting out games.

“Oh my god, that’s the hardest thing for me to wake up on game days, go through shootaround with the team and then have to pick a suit to wear for the game,” – Porzingis told ESPN about his rehab process. “I’m like, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore.’ It’s the toughest thing for me. I hate my suits. Not that I hate the suits, but I hate picking them for the game day.”

“It’s so weird that I’m not able to — I am able to, but I’m not playing yet,” – he added. “It’s the game day, and I feel like it’s the game day, but you just pick a suit, and you wear it, and you’re there. And I try to be in the moment when I’m there with the team and help as much as I can without being able to be on the floor, but it’s very, very, very tough. Tougher than I expected.”

Following the ACL tear, which he suffered while playing with the New York Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis decided to take extra time recovering in order to be able to have a longer and more injury-free career. After he was traded to Dallas, Mavericks gladly signed on to this plan in order to have him in the best shape for 2019/20 season in which they aim to get back to the playoffs.

While he won’t play in official games this season, Porzingis resumed all other basketball activities and full 5-on-5 practice.

In two and a half seasons he played in the NBA so far, Porzingis averaged 17.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.

Kristaps Prozingis isn’t likely to play for the Dallas Mavericks for the remaining part of this season as he recovers from an ACL injury he suffered in February 2018.

Prozingis, 23, signed for the Mavericks on Tuesday after informing the Knicks he didn’t want to be part of their rebuilding team in New York. He was traded to Dallas in a monster deal that saw Dennis Smith Jr., Deandre Jordan, Wesley Matthew and two future first-round picks leave Dallas.

While Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban admitted the Latvian player won’t be playing in the next few months, Dallas is committed to signing him to a long-term deal. Porzingis allegedly adores Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki is his idol, two players Cuban hope will motivate the 23-year-old to commit his future to the team.

Doncic is averaging 20.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists despite being only 19 years of age. He’s also one of the best players in Dallas. Before his injury, Porzingis was also a rising star who averaged 22 points and made it to the All-Star game in just his third NBA season.

“We obviously think Porzingis is a great young talent, similar in many ways to Dirk,” Coach Rick Carlisle said of the Latvian upon his arrival in Dallas.

According to ESPN, Porzingis hasn’t yet decided whether he wants to commit his future to Dallas. If that’s the case, he’s allowed to sign a two year deal that will see him become a free agent in 2020.

While everyone has been occupied with the news of Anthony Davis and his trade request, a huge deal was being orchestrated in the shadows. New York Knicks decided to trade their franchise star Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for a package that centred on second-year point guard Dennis Smith Jr. and two future first rounders.

Besides Porzingis, the Knicks also sent some salary dumps in Trey Burke, Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. while receiving Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan’s expiring contracts from the Mavs.

The trade was confirmed on Thursday by Knicks’ general manager Scott Perry.

“As is standard for this time of year, we were exploring various options on potential trades,” – said Perry in a statement. “Considering the uncertainty regarding Kristaps’ free agent status and his request today to be traded, we made a trade that we are confident improves the franchise. We thank Kristaps, Tim, Courtney and Trey for their contributions and wish them all the best.”

This trade came after Kristaps Porzingis had a meeting with Knicks’ front office and expressed his dissatisfaction with some of the decision making and the fact that the team is once again one among the league’s worse. Given the fact that Porzingis will be a restricted free agent this summer, New York though this was the best time to act and get something in return for the 23-year-old All-Star. They also wanted to clear cap space so they can pursue free-agent stars in the offseason.

Dallas, on the other hand, is hoping to sell Porzingis on the possibility of playing with another highly touted European star in Luka Doncic, who is the leading candidate for the Rookie of the Year award, and convince him to extend his contract.

Kristaps Porzingis has been sidelined for almost a year now, having torn his ACL in February 2018. Before going down with the injury, he received his first All-Star selection.

It looks like the New York Knicks’ fans don’t have to worry about losing their superstar Kristaps Porzingis after all. Porzingis’ relationship with the Knicks took a hit in 2017 due to 22-year-old’s growing frustration with the team’s front office. But, that’s all in the past now according to Knicks’ team president Steve Mills.

Mills made an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show on Thursday and said that he and general manager Scott Perry “worked really hard” in order to repair the broken relationship between two sides and that he now isn’t afraid that Porzingis might want to leave New York.

We’ve worked really hard in rebuilding the relationship with KP,” – Mills told Stephen A. Smith. “For Scott and me, it’s been with his brother [Janis Porzingis]. We had to make Janis, who is his agent and his brother, make him feel like he was part of our group and let him understand what we’re doing as a team, where we’re taking this thing. We communicate with KP all the time. And we know he feels good about directionally where we’re going. I think you can see that through some of his tweets and social media stuff, and our conversations with him. He’s back on board with where we’re going and we feel really good about his future with us.

After several turbulent years, New York Knicks decided to start clean in 2017 and make Kristaps Porzingis a cornerstone of their franchise. It turned out to be a good move since Knicks played great basketball and Porzingis proved to be an exceptional leader. He averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.4 blocks per game. Unfortunately, he tore his left ACL in February 2018 and had to undergo a season-ending surgery. He will probably be sidelined until early 2019.

After suffering a torn left ACL in February and undergoing a surgery, New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis is working on his return to the basketball court. Porzingis spoke with the media for the first time since the injury on Tuesday, saying he will come back “better and stronger” and that he keeps a “positive mindset” during the rehabilitation.

I believe that I’m going to come back better and stronger,” – said Porzingis. “[I’ve] been having a positive mindset this whole time and just going day by day, doing whatever I need to. Every day is a little progress, a little something, and just moving forward and getting better every day with my knee.

The 22-year-old didn’t want to specify the timetable for his return, saying he is still in the early rehab process. According to ESPN, Porzingis should remain off the court for at least 10 months since the date of the surgery. Porzingis will use the time off not only to heal his injury but also to strengthen his body more.

Not only just getting bigger and stronger but just my movement, my body, the way my body moves and all those things,” – he said. “That’s going to be big for me also because of how long I am. So I think I don’t know how many months I have, [but] I’m going to use it as efficiently as I can to come back as a better player and also work on my mind … and come back sharp.

The injury of Kristaps Porzingis was a major blow for the New York Knicks, who hoped that he could lead the team to playoffs even without Carmelo Anthony, who was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Porzingis was very close to making that happening, playing great basketball, and averaging 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and a league-high 2.4 blocks per game. Unfortunately, his injury left the Knicks stranded, and they opted to give their younger players more room to develop and abandoned their playoff hopes.
