There appears to be no bad blood between former teammates Draymond Green and Kevin Durant over the way the latter left the Golden State Warriors. But despite that and the fact it has been three years since then, Green still believes Durant made a mistake.

During a recent appearance on The Colin Cowherd Podcast, Green reflected on his relationship with Durant and said that he still thinks of him as his “brother” and wants him to succeed.

“What I will say is, when he decided that he was going to leave, I thought it was a mistake,” Green continued. “And not for the reason that everyone else thinks it’s a mistake, by the way. I thought it was a mistake because I know Kevin.”

Green explained that he believes basketball is the most important thing for Durant and that he could be solely focused on it with Golden State compared to his current situation.

“I felt like when Kevin was here, what he was allowed to do was to simply just go play basketball, which is what Kevin loves to do,” he added.

You can check out Green’s full bit on Durant below.

Durant helped the Warriors reach three NBA Finals and win two championships before choosing to team up with Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn in 2019. However, he is yet to find success with the Nets, failing to get out of the second round while there.

Since Durant left, the Warriors missed the playoff twice before returning to the postseason this year. They secured a place in the NBA Finals and are favored against the young Boston Celtics to win another title.

Kevin Durant made a triumphant return on Tuesday night after missing the previous 18 months due to an ACL injury. In his Brooklyn Nets competitive debut, Durant scored 22 points in 25 minutes of play to lead the team to a blowout 125-99 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Despite the long break, Durant seemed comfortable on the court, draining jumpers, getting to the rim, and not being afraid of contact. He was also a pest on the defensive end of the ball, finishing the night with three steals, one block, and four defensive rebounds.

Durant had huge help from Kyrie Irving, who was also coming off an injury that prematurely ended his 2019-20 season. Irving drained 26 points while adding four assists.

Thanks to Durant and Irving’s play, Brooklyn was never in danger of losing control of the game. They had a 15-point lead after the first quarter and continued to build on that, which enabled them to rest most of the starters in the fourth quarter.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Durant didn’t want to focus on his return or the fact that he got the win against his former team. Instead, the 32-year-old superstar said he just enjoyed a positive start of the season and hopes the team will be able to build on it and have a successful run.

“I think we had a solid first start,” said Durant. “So we want to build on it. I was looking forward to coming out here and getting a ‘W,’ and I was glad we were able to come out and finish the job.”

It appears that Kevin Durant made his free agency decision earlier than he needed to. According to Durant, he knew he was leaving the Golden State Warriors midway through the past NBA season.

Durant, who is currently recovering from an Achilles injury, discussed his free agency decision during his recent appearance on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All the Smoke podcast.

“I knew just about the halfway point through the year,” Durant admitted. “I could feel, you know, the separation between the two. Everybody was just waiting on me to make a decision on free agency — coaches, to my teammates, to the media — it’s like January, and I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m just trying to hoop.”

Still, despite his decision, Durant didn’t change his approach and was hoping he could help Golden State win another championship.

“But I was really focused on the end goal, which was to win the third championship in a row,” he added.

Kevin Durant didn’t manage to reach this goal, as he suffered an Achilles tear in the playoffs, which sidelined him for this season. Despite this, Durant got a max-contract offer from the Brooklyn Nets, where he teamed up with Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

Durant won two consecutive NBA titles with the Warriors, while also being the NBA Finals MVP both times. He averaged 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game last season.

Draymond Green played a big part in convincing Kevin Durant to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016. And as it turns out, Green also played a role in Durant’s decision to leave the franchise three years later and join the Brooklyn Nets.

Durant, who won’t play this season due to an Achilles injury, made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, where he discussed several topics, including him leaving Golden State for Brooklyn. At one point, host Stephen A. Smith asked Durant whether the altercation he had with Green last season had something to do with his decision.

“A little bit, yeah for sure,” – Durant responded. “Yeah I mean, your teammate talks to you that way, you think about it a little bit. Definitely, for sure, I’m not going to lie about it.”

Kevin Durant and Draymond Green confronted after losing a game to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first part of the 2018/19 NBA season and were caught on camera yelling at each other. The argument continued in the locker room, and it ended up creating a negative atmosphere around the team. While Durant and Green ended up fixing their relationship, it looks like KD didn’t completely forget this incident.

Elsewhere in the interview, Durant further explained why he left the Warriors, saying he felt like he “needed a switch.”

“I felt like a lot of stuff in Golden State had reared its head,” – he added. “I felt like it was going to be the end no matter what, especially for that group.

Despite everything, Durant’s time with Warriors was highly successful. In three years with the franchise, he helped the team to reach three NBA Finals and win two titles, while also winning two Finals MVP awards.

In a surprising move, Kevin Durant decided to leave Golden State Warriors at the end of June and sign with Brooklyn Nets where he teamed up with All-Star guard Kyrie Irving. Now, in a rare interview with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Durant revealed the reasons for this somewhat unexpected decision.

“Because I wanted to,” – Durant told Haynes. “The basketball was appealing.”

Through the majority of the past season, Durant was linked with heading to New York Knicks, but as it turns out, they never were an option.

“If I was leaving the Warriors, it was always going to be for the Nets,” – he added. “They got the pieces and a creative front office. I just like what they were building.”

Kevin Durant spent three years with the Warriors, winning two NBA titles in three years. His departure from the franchise, however, ended on a bitter note as he suffered Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals series against Toronto Raptors which will cause him to miss the entire next season rehabbing.  Although many think that Durant was talked into playing in the series, despite spending previous two months rehabbing from an ankle sprain, the 30-year-old says that’s not the case.

According to Durant, Golden State did nothing to influence his decision to return to court, and that he wanted to play in that game.

“Nobody was responsible for it. It was just the game.” – Durant explained.

The Golden State Warriors claimed a crucial 106-105 victory over the Toronto Raptors in a do-or-die Game 5. But that doesn’t mean that all news was good news for Steve Kerr and the two-time champions.

Kevin Durant, who had been out since the Warriors’ Western Conference semi-final series against the Houston Rockets in early May, collapsed in the second quarter, clutching the same right Achilles that he had injured last month.

While no official word has been given about the exact diagnosis of his injury, sources have suggested that Golden State fears that Durant has ruptured the tendon.

Durant went down with 9:46 to go in the second quarter after having looked sharp. He had already scored 11 points on 3-5 shooting when he suffered the injury.

Durant left the arena with crutches and a walking boot on the injured leg. While his team will travel home to Oakland for Thursday night’s Game 6, Durant will head to New York for further testing and evaluation of his injury.

It remains to be seen how Durant’s injury will affect his upcoming free agency or if the Warriors rushed the forward back too soon.

In any case, despite keeping their NBA title hopes alive, it was hard for the Warriors to celebrate after Monday night’s bad news.

Golden State Warriors will have to wait a bit more before their All-Star Kevin Durant is ready to return to action. Durant, who missed Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against Portland Trail Blazers with the calf strain, has also been ruled out for Game 2 of the series according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.

Durant suffered the injury in Game 5 of the West Semi-Finals against the Houston Rockets. After Golden State advanced, he was immediately ruled out for Game 1 against the Trail Blazers and considered doubtful for Game 2. The 30-year-old is expected to be reevaluated on Thursday before the game, but the Warriors will keep him off the basketball court as a precautionary measure.

Although Kevin Durant is considered to be Golden State Warriors’ best player, the team still managed to have a strong showing without him. They first defeated the Rockets in Game 6 to close out the series and then easily dealt with the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 1 coming out with a 116-94 win. According to certain reports, if Warriors win Game 2 against Portland in a similar fashion, Durant might sit out for an additional game or two in order to be fully prepared for the NBA Finals.

Durant averaged 34.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game during these playoffs.

Golden State Warriors didn’t just suffer an embarrassing 115-111 loss against Phoenix Suns on Sunday but also had their All-Star forward Kevin Durant getting hurt. Durant went down in the fourth quarter after rolling his ankle and didn’t return.

With less than seven minutes left in the game, Durant jumped to make a pass and ended up landing on Deandre Ayton’s foot. He stayed on the floor a bit and then walked away to the locker room.

While Warriors were a concern that Kevin Durant’s injury might be a more serious one at first, the team’s coach Steve Kerr said after the game that the 30-year-old only has an “ankle contusion.”

“I think he’s going to be all right,” –said Kerr after the game. “He had an ankle contusion, but I don’t think it’s bad. I talked to him briefly, he didn’t seem to think it was too bad.”

Before leaving the game against Phoenix, Durant had 25 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. He is currently averaging 27.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 65 games he played in 2018/19.

Most NBA fans would like to see Golden State Warriors’ dynasty come to an end and it seems like Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady shares their opinion. During his recent appearance on ESPN’s The Jump, McGrady discussed the possibility of Kevin Durant leaving the Warriors in the offseason, and said that this scenario would be “great” for the league.

“[That would be] great for the league,” – said McGrady, who currently works as an NBA analyst at ESPN. “Although I love seeing these guys play on the big stage every year, I think we just need some more parity … Kevin Durant just completely changed everything when he went there and made it not fair for the league.”

According to McGrady, Durant leaving wouldn’t just bring more parity to the league, but would also help another team to become relevant.

“I would love for KD to spread the love around … so a team like the New York Knicks can come back in the fold and be competitive in the Eastern Conference,” – he added. “Like, how awesome would that be? KD joins another player or two and make New York exciting again.”

Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors in 2016, and since then, they became an unstoppable team that doesn’t have a real opponent in the NBA. Still, that could change in the summer, since both Durant and Klay Thompson are up for contract extension. And while Thompson is expected to stay, most analysts predict that Durant will decide to go somewhere else especially if Golden State manages to get a three-peat this year.

Durant played 48 games this season, and currently averages 27.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.

The Golden State Warriors scored 51 points in Tuesday’s 142-111 blow out win over the Denver Nuggets to set a new NBA record. On top of that, they made 10 three-pointers in the first quarter, a franchise record for any quarter.

The Warriors started the game in the best way possible, compiling 19-for-25 from the field and 10-of-14 from beyond the arc to end the first quarter with 51 points. Kevin Durant was the most dominant player in that quarter with 17 points. Klay Thompson had 13 points while Steph Curry had 12 points.

The last time the Warriors scored that many points in a single quarter was in 1989 when they scored 57 in the third quarter against the Sacramento Kings.

“It’s beautiful, beautiful basketball,” Coach Steve Kerr said. “I don’t remember a better first quarter. That was a fireworks show.”

Curry hinted the Warriors were onto something—making a statement to playoff teams in the west.

“We’ve been paying attention,” he said. “We know who’s been playing well—and to be honest, we haven’t played as well against the playoff teams in the West. We wanna kinda correct that going into the last half of the season.”

Durant had a closely similar message saying, “I think they know who we are.”
