The Phoenix Suns’ fans finally got a chance to watch superstar Kevin Durant play for their team in Footprint Center. Durant made his long-awaited home debut for the Suns on Wednesday night, helping the team to a 107-100 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Durant, who joined the Suns in a blockbuster trade from the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the NBA trade deadline, was originally supposed to make his home debut in early March against the Oklahoma City Thunder. But the 34-year-old player injured his ankle in the pregame warmups and ended up being ruled out for three weeks.

The missed time evidently left a mark on Durant as he entered the Timberwolves’ game rusty. He missed his first six field goal attempts before finally connecting on a fade-away jumper midway through the second period.

From there, Durant slowly grew more comfortable and finished the night with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. He was five of 18 from the floor and two of four on 3-pointers while playing 29 minutes.

With Durant still searching for his groove, other Suns’ playmakers stepped up to carry the load. All-Star Devin Booker scored team-high 29 points, while veteran guard Chris Paul added 19 points and six assists.

The Suns are currently the fourth seed in the West with a 41-35 record. They are five games behind the Sacramento Kings at No. 3 and 0.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers at No. 6.

A year ago, the Brooklyn Nets had the most-talented BIG 3 in the NBA in James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant, and it seemed like they would be a championship contender for years to come. As of Thursday morning, the Nets have neither of these players and couldn’t be further from contending for a title.

According to multiple reports, the Phoenix Suns made a deal with the Nets to acquire Durant. The Suns will send Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks, and a pick swap to Brooklyn while also getting TJ Warren as part of the trade.

The deal comes just days after the Nets traded away disgruntled All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and picks. It likely signals the start of another rebuild for the troubled franchise unless they can use the acquired assets to replenish the lost star power.

Durant asked to be traded in the summer in an apparent power struggle with then-head coach Steve Nash. The Nets had talks with other teams but eventually decided there was no deal to be made and managed to fix their relationship with the player while letting go of Nash.

Even after trading away Irving, Brooklyn had full intention to continue with Durant and tried to explore trades that could help them improve the roster around him. But the 34-year-old player wanted out, and this time the Nets opted to take the best deal they had on the table and run with it.

Durant leaves an underwhelming legacy in New York that included regular playoff trips but only one postseason series win. His time with the Nets will always be viewed because of what it could be opposite to what it actually was.

For the Suns, this deal is all about getting the final piece of the puzzle that could move them across the finishing line and toward the NBA title. With Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul, Phoenix has all the reasons to believe they are the best team in the Western Conference and possibly in the league. It also serves as a statement of intent by the new owner Mat Ishbia and signals better days for the Suns.

Superstar forward Kevin Durant reportedly doesn’t want to be part of the Brooklyn Nets anymore. The two-time NBA Finals MVP made a formal trade request on Thursday, and the Nets are expected to honor it. It is believed that Durant expressed his desire to leave to Nets’ owner Joe Tsai directly.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Brooklyn’s general manager Sean Marks is working together with the player and his business manager Rich Kleiman to find the best deal for both sides. Durant put the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat as his preferred destinations, but there is no guarantee he will end there.

Since Durant doesn’t have a no-trade clause, the Nets can send him to the team that will give them the best trade value. Reportedly, Marks is taking that approach and expects a monster haul of players and draft assets in order to part with the 12-time All-Star. And since Durant is one of the best players in basketball, not to mention under contract for four more years, he will most likely get it.

Kevin Durant joined the Nets in 2019 in a sign-and-trade deal from the Golden State Warriors. He missed the entire 2019-20 campaign recovering from an Achilles tendon injury before returning to his All-Star form in the following two seasons.

While Durant continued to impress on an individual level, averaging 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and career-high 6.4 assists this past season, the Nets failed to make significant noise in the playoffs. Brooklyn lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Conference Semifinals in 2020-21 and was eliminated in the first round in 2021-22.

The NBA’s all-time scoring list saw a major shakeup on Wednesday night. Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant officially entered in the top 25 scorers in league history, passing Allen Iverson and causing the Philadelphia 76ers legend to slide to No. 26.

Durant moved on the list with his first basket in a 123-104 win over the Boston Celtics. The 33-year-old made a pull-up jumper to give the Nets a 5-3 lead and get his total to 24,369. Iverson scored 24,368 points throughout his NBA career.

Speaking about the achievement after the game, Durant said Iverson is “one of those guys” he emulates when he’s on the basketball court.

“To pass him on the list, to end up there with some of the greats on that list is incredible,” Durant added. “I’ve just got to keep going.”

Durant is currently enjoying a stellar season that has made him one of the early favorites for the MVP award. He is averaging 28.1 points per game while also adding 7.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists on average. His performances are currently keeping the Nets at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 14-5 record.

If he continues to score at this pace, Durant could move up several more spots on the list before 2021-22 wraps up. His next goal is to pass 24,505 points scored by Hall of Famer Ray Allen.

Not even a sore shoulder could stop Kevin Durant against his former team the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night. He managed to put up 33 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a convincing 120-96 win.

Durant revealed he has shoulder issues while chatting with reporters after the game but downplayed the severity of the situation.

“It’s solid,” Durant said via ESPN when asked about the injury. “A little sore here and there, but I played, didn’t get in the way too much. Keep getting treatment and take it a day at a time.”

The Nets’ head coach Steve Nash described Durant’s injury as “a little tweak” and said that the team doesn’t expect it to be an issue moving forward.

“I don’t think it’s the type of thing that we expect to get worse so he’s kind of playing through it, so it’s not terrible,” Nash added.

Kevin Durant has put together an MVP-worthy season in 2021-22 and currently averages 29.6 points per game. He is also contributing with career-high 8.4 boards while shooting an impressive 58.6 percent from the field and 42.4 from deep.

Durant’s performances helped Brooklyn to turn around their ugly start of the season and have the team on a three-game winning streak. The Nets are second in the East with a 10-4 record at the moment.

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant won’t return to action anytime soon. Durant, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, has been ruled out indefinitely, according to his head coach Steve Nash.

While talking to reporters on Wednesday, Nash said that Durant needs to undergo further tests on his hamstring and is potentially looking at a lengthy break.

“We were expecting the potential for this to be a month or whatever it may be,” Nash told the media. “So who knows? Who knows what the scan says? Who knows where this takes us and how soon he’s back?”

Nash added that the Nets would be “very cautious” with Durant moving forward and won’t rush him back until he’s fully ready.

Durant initially missed three games in early February before returning in a 134-117 win over the Golden State Warriors with a 20-point, five-rebound, and six-assist performance.

However, the 31-year-old superstar was shut down again after the game and hasn’t played since. He missed the 2021 All-Star game as well despite being the captain of his team.

After missing the last season with an Achilles tear, Kevin Durant made a triumphant return in 2020-21. He was the Nets’ best player when on the court, averaging 29.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. The issue, however, is that he only managed to play 19 games so far.

Brooklyn can afford to give Durant more time to recover, especially since they have All-Stars Kyrie Irving and James Harden playing at a high level. They are currently second in Eastern Conference with a 24-13 record and one game behind the leading Philadelphia 76ers.

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant won’t be able to participate in this year’s All-Star Game. Durant, who was set to captain the East team, is dealing with a strained hamstring, according to the official announcement, and is set to be out around two weeks.

Durant will be replaced on the Eastern Conference pool of All-Stars by Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis.

The All-Star invite for Sabonis, which is his second in a row, isn’t a surprise considering he has been averaging a career-high 21.4 points and 5.9 assists to go with 11.4 rebounds so far this season.

The NBA also announced that the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum was named a starter in this year’s All-Star game. Tatum was initially supposed to be a reserve, but will now take Durant’s place in the starting five.

Despite his absence off the court, Kevin Durant will keep his captain duties. He will get to draft his team that will be facing off against LeBron James from the All-Star pool, although it remains to be seen whether the 32-year-old star will actually make the trip to Atlanta and be present at State Farm Arena.

Durant strained his hamstring in early February and has since missed nine games. He is currently averaging 29 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game for the No. 2-seeded Brooklyn Nets.

Kevin Durant made a triumphant return on Tuesday night after missing the previous 18 months due to an ACL injury. In his Brooklyn Nets competitive debut, Durant scored 22 points in 25 minutes of play to lead the team to a blowout 125-99 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Despite the long break, Durant seemed comfortable on the court, draining jumpers, getting to the rim, and not being afraid of contact. He was also a pest on the defensive end of the ball, finishing the night with three steals, one block, and four defensive rebounds.

Durant had huge help from Kyrie Irving, who was also coming off an injury that prematurely ended his 2019-20 season. Irving drained 26 points while adding four assists.

Thanks to Durant and Irving’s play, Brooklyn was never in danger of losing control of the game. They had a 15-point lead after the first quarter and continued to build on that, which enabled them to rest most of the starters in the fourth quarter.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Durant didn’t want to focus on his return or the fact that he got the win against his former team. Instead, the 32-year-old superstar said he just enjoyed a positive start of the season and hopes the team will be able to build on it and have a successful run.

“I think we had a solid first start,” said Durant. “So we want to build on it. I was looking forward to coming out here and getting a ‘W,’ and I was glad we were able to come out and finish the job.”

It appears that Kevin Durant made his free agency decision earlier than he needed to. According to Durant, he knew he was leaving the Golden State Warriors midway through the past NBA season.

Durant, who is currently recovering from an Achilles injury, discussed his free agency decision during his recent appearance on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All the Smoke podcast.

“I knew just about the halfway point through the year,” Durant admitted. “I could feel, you know, the separation between the two. Everybody was just waiting on me to make a decision on free agency — coaches, to my teammates, to the media — it’s like January, and I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m just trying to hoop.”

Still, despite his decision, Durant didn’t change his approach and was hoping he could help Golden State win another championship.

“But I was really focused on the end goal, which was to win the third championship in a row,” he added.

Kevin Durant didn’t manage to reach this goal, as he suffered an Achilles tear in the playoffs, which sidelined him for this season. Despite this, Durant got a max-contract offer from the Brooklyn Nets, where he teamed up with Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

Durant won two consecutive NBA titles with the Warriors, while also being the NBA Finals MVP both times. He averaged 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game last season.

In a surprising move, Kevin Durant decided to leave Golden State Warriors at the end of June and sign with Brooklyn Nets where he teamed up with All-Star guard Kyrie Irving. Now, in a rare interview with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Durant revealed the reasons for this somewhat unexpected decision.

“Because I wanted to,” – Durant told Haynes. “The basketball was appealing.”

Through the majority of the past season, Durant was linked with heading to New York Knicks, but as it turns out, they never were an option.

“If I was leaving the Warriors, it was always going to be for the Nets,” – he added. “They got the pieces and a creative front office. I just like what they were building.”

Kevin Durant spent three years with the Warriors, winning two NBA titles in three years. His departure from the franchise, however, ended on a bitter note as he suffered Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals series against Toronto Raptors which will cause him to miss the entire next season rehabbing.  Although many think that Durant was talked into playing in the series, despite spending previous two months rehabbing from an ankle sprain, the 30-year-old says that’s not the case.

According to Durant, Golden State did nothing to influence his decision to return to court, and that he wanted to play in that game.

“Nobody was responsible for it. It was just the game.” – Durant explained.
